Offer Conditions
Academic Conditions of Entry - Conditional offer
Obtain Bachelor’s Degree (Honours), Professional Bachelor’s Degree
or Bachelor’s Degree in Technology (BTech) with a ‘2nd Class Division
2’ or 60%
You must also obtain IELTS (Academic) 7.0 overall, with minimum 6.5
in each of the sub tests, or equivalent. Alternatively you can choose
from another English language test we accept. Please refer to our
website for further information.

Non-Academic Conditions of Entry


All visa applicants are required to pay a £5000 deposit towards your
CAS. This deposit is non-refundable and is deducted from your
course fees at enrolment. You should only pay your deposit once you
have been made an unconditional offer. Once the deposit has been
received, we will complete the remaining checks necessary for the

Provide evidence of an accepted English language test that meets the
minimum English requirements. Requirements vary; please check your

Provide a copy of your undergraduate final degree transcript &
graduation certificate which clearly shows your name, the title and
date of the award, and the awarding institution. A certified translation
must be provided if the document is not in English

cancel your contract to study with the College. Birkbeck will accept

International Applicants
If your main purpose for being in the UK is to study at Birkbeck, you will
need to obtain a Student visa using a Confirmation of Acceptance for

If you are an international student who will require a Student visa to study in
the UK, you will be required to pay a Student visa deposit of £5000 to
confirm your place.

Registration
Student visa
If you require a Student visa you will be sent registration instructions after
all offer conditions have been met and your CAS has been issued. CAS and
registration instructions are normally sent out from the end of June.
Registration will require you to upload your visa and supporting immigration
documents and attend an online session. Digital copies of ID documents
are accepted, but Birkbeck reserves the right to ask students to present
their original documents at any point.
Non-Student visa
If you are an international applicant who does not require a Student visa
and holds another type of UK visa or EU Pre-Settled or Settled Status then
you should provide a copy of your passport and visa as soon as possible.
For applicants who have obtained Pre-Settled or Settled Status from the EU
Settlement Scheme please generate a share code via the green ‘Start now’

immigration-status and email the code to us. Digital copies of ID
documents are accepted, but Birkbeck reserves the right to ask students to
present their original documents at any point.

General Conditions of Entry
In addition to any specific conditions stipulated, your offer of admission to
Birkbeck, University of London is also subject to the following general
conditions:
Meeting the Conditions
If you are holding a Conditional offer then you must meet all the conditions
stated in your offer, both academic and non-academic prior to being invited
to enrol. The deadline to meet these conditions will vary depending on
whether you applied directly to us and also whether you require a Student
Visa or not. Please contact the admissions team if you require confirmation
of the deadline to meet your conditions. In general it is advisable that
conditions are met at least six weeks prior to the start date of your course.
If you do not meet the conditions by this date your offer of admission may
be withdrawn or your application deferred to the next start date.
Qualifications
If your offer has been made based on qualification you already hold, you
must provide evidence (translated into English if applicable) of these
qualifications to confirm that you are entitled to be registered on the
programme of study to which you have been offered admission. Copies of
relevant documentation may be uploaded at application or via your My
Birkbeck Profile prior to enrolment. Birkbeck reserves the right to request
that you present the originals of these documents.
Identification
You must provide an accepted form of photographic identification, normally

Fee Status Assessment and Paying your Fees
Your acceptance of this offer confirms your agreement to pay the tuition
fees at the fee status rate stated on this offer letter, ie. Home or Overseas.
If your status has not yet been determined you must complete an online fee
assessment questionnaire so that we may fully assess your tuition fee
status. In most circumstances your tuition fee status is set for the duration
of your programme of study. If you disagree with the fee assessment you
may request for the decision to be re-assessed by contacting the
Admissions Team at [email protected] within 10 working days of
receiving the outcome.

Before your programme starts you will be invited to complete the online
enrolment process, as part of the process you will confirm your intended
method of payment. Payment can be made via government loans,
sponsorship, credit card, BACS transfer or with direct debit instalment
plans. Please note that you will not receive any invitation to enrol if your
tuition fee status has not been determined.

Fees are charged annually and students should allow for tuition fees to
increase annually in line with inflation. The fee will be confirmed annually at

Deferred Entry
If you accept the offer you may request to defer entry for up to a maximum
of one year, thereafter you must reapply. You must still meet any offer
conditions by the date specified above. All deferral requests must be
submitted and approved before the end of the first academic term in which
your programme starts.
Accommodation
There are a number of accommodation options available to students,
depending on status. A very limited number of places are also available in
University of London Intercollegiate Halls of residence and priority for these
is given to new international students. Options for part-time students are
generally limited to the private rented sector, flat share or homestay. For

Enrolment
Invitations to enrol will be sent to applicants who have met all academic and
non-academic conditions stipulated and by the dates specified. If any
conditions, academic or non-academic, remain outstanding you will not be

Please note that in some exceptional situations it may be necessary to


cancel programmes or modules. When this occurs you will be contacted at
the earliest opportunity with this information. Where there is a substantial
change you will be given the option to cancel your application to the
programme with no financial penalty.
Criminal convictions
Disclosing a criminal conviction is not a requirement of an application to
study at the University and applicants will only ever be assessed on their
academic suitability.

The exception to this are students who require a visa to study in the UK
who are required to disclose this information as part of the visa application
process, or courses which involve working directly with children or
vulnerable adults where a criminal record check is required.

license, or subject to any of the following sections 35; 36; 37; 38; 37/41; 47
or 48 of the Mental Health Act, or on a Court Order for any other treatment.
