The Genist Heroes Monument in Bucharest was erected on the initiative of

Schools and Training Center, launched both the operations to collect the
necessary funds and the organization of the contest to determine the artist.[1 The
name of the monumental ensemble also gave the name of the square near it,
Piața Leu, as well as the name of the student campus in the area, Campus
Studențesc Leu, which is located in the building where, until the Revolution of
December 1989, the Ștefan Gheorghiu Academy operated.
The Arch of Triumph

The Arch of Triumph first built after Romania gained its independence in 1878 so that
the victorious troops could march under it.
Another arch with concrete skeleton and plaster exterior of elaborate sculptures and
decoration designed by Petre Antonescu was built on the same site after World War I in
1922.
The exterior of the arch that was greatly damaged by time was
replaced in 1935 by the current Neoclassical design to make it
look as the one in Paris.
It was inaugurated on the 1st of December 1936.
It is 27 meters tall and its foundation is a 25 x 11.50 meters rectangle
Monument to the Heroes of the Air

development of aviation, is located in the center

of Aviatorilor Square and was created between 1928-1935 by Lidia Kotzebue and Iosif
Fekete . The construction, with a total height of 20 m, is composed of bronze sculptures,
placed on a reinforced concrete plinth clad with Banpotoc stone, consisting of an obelisk,
located in turn on a structure made of four trapezoidal prisms glued together by circular
arches. This entire complex is fixed on a circular stone base. Above the obelisk is placed
the 5 m high statue, weighing 5 tons, depicting the flying man with outstretched wings

in 1923, a committee was formed for the construction of the Aviators' Monument, which
included: Prince Carol II , Prof. Dr. Ion Cantacuzino , General Vasile Rudeanu, aviator
medical colonel Victor Atanasiu, aviator Cornel Olănescu, aviator Mihai Oromolu. The
committee initially asked the sculptors Ion Jalea , Alexandru Severin , Cornel Medrea and
Ion C. Dimitriu-Bârlad to present, for a fee, one project each. However, considering that the
projects did not represent the spirit of the aviators' sacrifice, the committee launched a
public competition with total prizes worth 40,000 lei for the construction of the monument
and invited many artists, painters, sculptors to participate
