TSM Oce TDS320 - SDS
Check if the date/time are equal between the laptop and the Power Logic Controller.
The time is visible in the (remote) settings editor and printed on a "print settings".
The setting can be changed logged in as Key Operator in the KO settings, in the System section.
After the setting is changed, the controller has to be rebooted.
Notes SDS session: General: sds
Purpose
The SDS session starts and controls the NotesSDS (on the Service laptop).
Through this interface, you start the diagnostic link to the Océ TDS300 system.
If the NotesSDS is active, a small icon (SDS) is visible in the system tray of Microsoft Windows.
Below you find a short explanation of the fields in the SDS session window.
Host
IP address of the PLC, or [oceservice].
Password
This is the standard service password: 675756.
Start / Stop
Start / Stop button to start / stop the SDS session.
Do not forget to stop the session before you close the TSM!
Message
Actual status message of the SDS session.
System Information
These fields give information about the Océ TDS300 system.
You can see the active error with the highest priority (1 (PE) to 9 (WAR)).
System status
This field gives information about the state of the Océ TDS300 system.
NURS (Normal User Mode): while printing / plotting the technician is able to read out machine
information e.g. counters, sensors.
It is not possible to change the parameters or to activate the output tests.
SDS mode: the technician has full access to the system.

Tips and (connection) problems laptop LN SDS : General: sds
Problem:
The SDS on your laptop is not or wrong registered.
Solution:
1. Make a Direct Cable Connection with the controller.
2. Start the Windows Explorer and open the c:\oce\apps\sds map.
3. Activate REG.BAT by double clicking it.
4. Make sure that the file OceSds.ini is in your windows directory ( C:\windows ).
If it is not copy it from c:\oce\apps\sds to c:\windows.
5. Activate SDSserver.exe by double clicking it.
6. Now run Lotus Notes and activate the SDS session. This should now work properly.
7. If you stop Lotus Notes the SDS server can still be active (this time only) and you must stop it
manually.
You can do this by double clicking the icon in the taskbar and then you select shutdown server in
the pop-up window.
8. When this is done once, the next connection will work properly
In cases the connection between the Controller and the Service Laptop fails the following items can
be checked successively to check for the cause.
Check within the Network Properties of your Laptop that in the Client for Microsoft Networks no
connection is made to a Windows NT Domain and no name is filled in within this field.
The date on the laptop and on the controller must be the same.
Open a HyperTerminal session with the same settings as defined in the previous chapter correct
settings.
Connect a loop back plug to the COM1 port of the laptop. The plug is available as tool. (7991.531)
Characters you type should appear on the screen.
If not; your problem is the within the hardware of your Laptop.
Connect the cable between the Controller and the Laptop and open the HyperTerminal session on

both sides.
Characters you type on the Laptop should appear on the Controller screen and visa versa.

01-29 Function tests overview: General: sds 01-29 Function
Definition
[ Counters ]
A counter test displays all the possible faults / warnings that are applicable for a CAS-group and the number of times
a fault / warning has been occurring since the last service visit.
[ Parameters ]
A parameter test assigns a new value to a system parameter. The value of this parameter must be accurate to
assure optimal functioning of the Océ TDS300 system. The value of this parameter can be determined by using a
system test.
[ Inputs ]
An input test is used to read the status of a digital input(s) of one of the CPU boards of the PRINTER or SCANNER.
After selecting an input test, the status of the input is periodically displayed on the SDS-U/I screen. The status of the
input will be displayed even if the system is busy scanning, printing or copying.
The SDS user can choose to look at an input in default "STATIC MODE" or in "LIVE MODE" i.e. during normal
system usage.
The displaying of the status is stopped after de-activating the input test.
There is no control-loop and no errors can and will be handled or detected.
[ Outputs ]
An output test activates one actuator of the system. This actuator is driven by a simple digital output of the CPU
boards.
There is no control-loop and no errors can and will be handled or detected.
[ Specials ]
Special tests are implemented to check the correctly functioning of a function or a part of a function. A special test
can activate several combined outputs to activate a function and also related inputs can be read simultaneously.
Special tests do not deliver quantitative information that can be applied to determine the value of a parameter.
A special test can activate a control-loop. During the time the test is active, an error may be detected and handled.
[ Adjustments ]
Adjustment tests are used to generate values to adjust a function.
In contradiction to a parameter test, no system test is used. An adjustment test is self-supporting.
During the time the test is active, an error can be detected and handled.
[ Consumables ]
A consumable test displays the actual lifetime of consumables.
No (sub) functions or outputs are activated. No errors can occur.
09/12/2009 7
01-29 Function tests overview: General: sds 01-29 Function
[ Information ]
Information tests displays the value of a (calculated) non-standard input(s) or output(s), e.g. all temperatures
measured in the fuser. Further, e.g. the presents of an optional PBA or the state, enable / disable of functionality is
displayed here.
After selecting an information test, the current value is periodically displayed on the SDS screen.
This is even done while the system is busy scanning, printing or copying.
The SDS user can choose to look at an input in default "STATIC MODE" or in "LIVE MODE" i.e. during normal
system use.
The displaying of the status is stopped after de-activating the test.

09/12/2009 37
[ 71/72 Backup / Restore ] of the system software: When to do it?: General: sds 70-79 Installation
The parameters of all the client settings (key operator and system administrator) are stored in the
xxx.kos & xxx.sas files in the controller. E.g. connectivity, passwords and the settings by the [
Remote Logic ].
Changes made by the SDS or the operator panel (e.g. installation menu) are stored in the
EEPROM of the printer and then copied to the SDS application in the controller.
When the system is switched ON, the data in the EEPROM of the printer is always copied to the
SDS application in the controller.
A complete backup on a diskette contains all the system and the client settings.
09/12/2009 38
[ 71/72 Backup / Restore ] of the system software: When to do it?: General: sds 70-79 Installation
At power on, the CPU of the printer detects the setting of the flag: new printhead I/O pba.
Then all the printhead settings in the printer EEPROM are stored in the EEPROM of the printhead I/O
pba.
The flag in the printhead I/O pba is toggled.
No restore action by service!
After replacement of only the printhead or only the printhead I/O pba from another system.
The flag setting of the EEPROM of the printhead I/O pba indicates no new hardware. So, It is not
possible to store new information in the EEPROM of the printhead I/O pba!
This means that the production adjustments of the printhead quality differs from the existing printhead.
Only SDS settings, as e.g. light intensity, horizontal and vertical position can be changed.
So: NO copy / print quality guarantee.

If the SDS version on the laptop is lower then the version on the controller, then the SDS client is
copied to the laptop.
Follow the instructions on the screen, the new SDS client is installed automatically.
10. Start the SDS test 73
(The window ['installed software'] can be empty.)
11. Select: <[Select an already on the machine available download file]>.
12. Select the pre-installed firmware Vx.x.x of the printer and start the download
Note 1: if you must download the boot and the application software, then do it one by one. Never
together!
Note 2: if the download of the boot software fails, you have to replace the EPROM / CPU pba..
13. Stop the [Lotus Notes] SDS session.
