TV

Connecting the aerial


This product is compatible with an aerial connection only.
Use the aerial connection that comes in to your house from the main antenna. If you do not have one,
you can try indoor aerial. (Satellite connection are not compatible.)
The cable from the aerial will plug in to the RF IN port at the back of your box.
This recorder also supports loop-through functionality. If you would like to receive a direct aerial signal
back in to your compatible TV, connect an aerial cable to the back of your TV and the other end in to the
RF OUT port at the back of your box.

Connecting to the TV
Using a HDMI cable
Use a HDMI to connect to the TV. This will provide up to 2160p UHD picture quality.
Plug one end in to your TV’s HDMI port and the other in to the HDMI port at the back of your box.

Connecting to the Internet
Ethernet Wired Connection (LAN)
Connect an Ethernet cable to your broadband router and plug the other end in to the ETHERNET port at
the back of your box.
The Internet should connect automatically, but if you have trouble connecting you can find the on-
screen settings later by navigating to:
SETTINGS > Network & Internet.

Wi-Fi Wireless Connection (WLAN)


Your product has a built-in wireless receiver.
You can configure these settings at any time by navigating to:
SETTINGS > Network & Internet.

Connecting the Power


Use the AC adaptor provided and plug in to a power socket.
Plug the other end in to the POWER port at the back of your box.
HDMI CEC
HDMI CEC (Consumer Electronics Control) lets you to control the TV and HDMI CEC supported devices
through the HDMI input. If your TV supports this feature, it will turn on/off automatically when the
recorder is powered on/off.
You can configure this option from:
SETTINGS > Freeview Play Preference > System Settings.
Tips:
• Make sure all the cables are secure before you power on.
• Connecting your TV directly to the audio/video output of the product will assure a more vivid
picture and enhance your viewing enjoyment.
• We recommend the network connection over a direct LAN.

Tips: Long pressing the Standby button enters the deep standby mode. In this mode the power
consumption of your box will be less than 0.5W but it may take several minutes to restart the
system. Note that the box works for the scheduled recording but not the automatic update.

Universal Remote Control
Your remote control is compatible with many popular TV’s. If you have a HDMI CEC enabled TV, you can
control the volume of your TV universally at the same time.

Set the universal remote control with search mode.


1. Press the TV STANDBY and OK buttons at the same time for 3 seconds. The red LED will light on.
2. Direct the remote control to your TV and press the CH ^/v button to search the brand code of the TV.
3. Your TV will turn off when matched with the code. Once your TV turns off press and hold the OK
button for 3 seconds to lock the code.
4. The red LED will blink three times if the universal remote control setting is successful.
Note: If the code setting process is not completed, the previously set code remains as default.

Set the universal remote control with 3 digit code.


1. Press the TV STANDBY and OK buttons at the same time for 3 seconds. The red LED will light on.
2. Direct the remote control to your TV and enter the 3-digit code. The button will blink when each
digit is entered and it will blink twice after the last digit is entered.
3. Your TV will turn off when the entered code matches. Once this happens, press and hold the OK
button for 3 seconds to lock the code.
4. The red LED will blink three times if the universal remote control setting is successful.
Note:
• When no code is entered for 20 seconds, the universal setting mode will switch to normal mode.
• For the TV brand code, see Remote Control Code List.

Bluetooth Pairing
To get started with Google Assistant or voice search, pair your remote control with the box via
Bluetooth.
1. Direct the remote control to your box.
2. Press the OK and i buttons at the same time for 5 seconds. The red LED on your remote will
remain on and a pairing message will display on screen.
3. The red LED on your remote will blink twice if the Bluetooth pairing is successful. After successful
pairing, the LED on your remote will blink green each time you press a key.
If pairing is unsuccessful, the remote will remain in infrared mode and the LED will blink red 5
times after a key is pressed.
Tips: To unpair the remote control, go to Settings > Remotes & Accessories and unpair it. Alternatively,
long press the OK and BLUE buttons at the same time for 5 seconds.

Inserting Batteries
Insert the batteries matching the plus(+) and minus(-) at each end.

Tips: If the remote control’s batteries are running low, the red LED will blink twice
every time you press the FreeviewPlay button.

Initial Setup
The installation wizard operates automatically when you power on the product for the first time or do
factory reset in Settings > General Settings > Device Preferences > Reset.
To ensure you have the best experience, here’s a step-by-step guide for you to follow:

Android TV Setup
You can enjoy various services Android TV provides by completing the Android TV setup wizard.

1. Remote Control Pairing


Pair your remote control with the box via Bluetooth. Your remote control works with the box even
without Bluetooth pairing. Please note Bluetooth connection is required to activate Google assistant.

2. Language Selection
Select your language. Android TV provides TV menus and messages in the selected language.

3. Network Connection
Network connection is required to get the most out of Android TV. We recommend using an Ethernet
cable for the most reliable connection between your box and home network. For a wireless setup, select
your home Wi-Fi from the list of available wireless networks and enter the password.

4. Google Account > 5. Terms of Service


You’ll need a Google account to get the most out of Android TV’s features. Sign in with your Google
account and agree to the terms of service to use Google’s services.

6. Google Location > 7. Help Improve Android Performance


You can allow Google to use your device’s location and receive diagnostic information. Google will use
this data to improve your experience and Android performance.

8. Google Assistant
Do more on your TV with your voice. Press the Google Assistant button on your remote to search live TV,
open an app, control smart home device and more.

9. Get Personal Results


You can choose to have personalized results. If turned on, your box will show personal information such
as email, calendar, payment information associated with the Google account used to login.

10. Additional Apps


Various Android TV apps are already installed on your box, but you can install additional apps in this
step.

11. Tutorials
We’ve put together a small tutorial video to help you get started with your set top box. You can find
these later in the settings menu.

Freeview TV Setup

1. Preferred Language
Select your preferred language to display subtitle and audio description from your TV.

2. Channel Search
This is where your aerial will automatically pick up any available channels. Note that you cannot skip or
stop the channel search process at the initial installation.

Please read through the privacy policy and terms & conditions to use HUMAX services.
Don’t forget, we will always treat all your personal information as private and confidential. Agreeing will
help us improve our products, software and services in the future.

Once you finish the setup process, let’s dive in to Android TV Home.

Android TV TM
All the content that you love, exactly how you want it.

Use the button on your remote to access Android TV home.


From the Android TV home screen, you can access Android apps and games, Freeview apps and
players, Google Assistant and more.
Tips:
• To get the most out of Android TV, connect your box to the Internet.
• To use all the services Google Assistant provides, link your box and smart home devices to the
Google Home app first.
• To activate voice recognition, pair your remote control with box via Bluetooth.
• To manage compatible devices, connect all the devices to the same Wi-Fi network.
• You need a Google account to access Google’s services.

Arranging apps
You can rearrange or remove apps according
to your preference.
1. Select an app using / on your
remote control.
2. Press and then OK.

down to set the position. To delete app,

note: Not all apps are editable.

Customizing apps
You can add or remove apps from the Android
TV home.
1. Long press until the cursor is placed
on Customise channels.
2. Press OK to bring the page from the
right.
3. Select a channel to add or remove it from
the home. Using OK, you can toggle it.

Getting more apps and games


You can install various TV apps and games
to your TV.
1. Select or press the APPS button on
your remote control. This quickly pulls up
your installed apps and games.
2. Download apps on Google Play
Store in the same manner as on your
smartphone.
3. You’ll need a Google account to sign in.

Direct access to favourite apps
You can bring your favourite apps to the top
row.
1. Select and then long press until
the cursor is placed on Add app to
favourites.
2. Press OK to go to app list.
3. Select an app and press OK. Your chosen
apps will always pin to the top row,
giving you quicker access.

Editing favourite apps


You can rearrange or remove favourite apps
from the first row.
1. Select an app.
2. Long press OK, then a popup will show
up.
3. Select Open, Move or Remove to edit the
favourite app.

Google Assistant
With Google Assistant, quickly access entertainment, control smart devices, get answers on screen,
and more using your voice.
Google Assistant is activated only when your remote control is Bluetooth paired with your box. If Google
Assistant is not working, go to the settings menu for Bluetooth pairing between your remote control and
box.

A faster way to the entertainment you love


Easily find and watch your favourite movies, shows, and music including videos from YouTube. Or enjoy
your vacation photos on the big screen all with your voice.
Select at the top left of your screen or press the Assistant button on your remote to talk to Google
Assistant.

A little help on your big screen


Ask Google Assistant questions and see answers from Google on the big screen. Dim the lights and
control smart home devices. Or even manage tasks by using your voice.

Chromecast built-in
With Chromecast built-in stream the entertainment you love from your phone, tablet or laptop to your TV.

Cast video and audio from your mobile device to a big TV screen.
1. Make sure both your mobile device and your box are on the same Wi-Fi network.
2. Open a Google Cast supported app on the mobile device.
3. Play content and tap the cast icon to send it to the TV.

Android TV Settings
In settings menu, you can set up or change various setting options to customise your
experience. However, this section describes the options for utilizing Android TV. For others,
see the settings section of Freeview TV.

Smart Suggestions
If some options have not been configured yet, you are prompted to set it up. To make the most of your
TV experience, we recommend you follow the on-screen instructions.

General Settings
Network & Internet
Configure wired Internet connection or wireless LAN.
You can turn on/off network scan on the Scanning always available menu. If turned on, all the apps
including Google’s location service will scan for networks regardless of Wi-Fi connection.

Account & Sign In


Check which Google account is currently signed-in.
You will be able to add new accounts from here. Sign in with a Google account to access Google’s
services. You can use multiple accounts to keep separate personal information.

Apps
An overview of all the apps installed on your box
Manage app permissions and data usage from here.

Device Preferences
You can see the information on your system and set the options on your preference.
• About: See all the information on your box. You can change the box name, update or restart the
system and check the network status, legal information, system version.
• Date & Time: Set the date and time.
• Language: Set the language. Android TV menu and messages will be provided in the selected one.
• Keyboard: Manage the keyboard.
• Sound: Turn on or off system sounds and set the audio format.
• Storage: Manage the internal storage. You can format the HDD.
• Home screen: Find all your apps, games and entertainment on your Android TV Home screen.
• Google Assistant: Set the voice search options.
• Chromecast built-in: See the Chromecast version.
• Screen saver: Set the screen saver options.
• Location: Turn the location tracking on or off.
• Usage & Diagnostics: Set the diagnostics on or off.
• Accessibility: Turn the screen reader on or off and customise its options.
• Reset: Delete all apps and data from internal storage.

Remote & Accessories


Use your voice remote with Google Assistant to quickly access entertainment, control smart
devices, get answers on screen, and more.
In addition, you can pair your remote control and box via Bluetooth, and check the battery capacity for
the remote.

Watching Live TV
You can enjoy plenty of live TV channels in real time.

Changing channel
Use the CH ^/v buttons to flick through
individual channels. To quickly scan
channels, long press the buttons.
Alternatively, input channel numbers with
the numerical pad to have direct access to a
channel. Each time you enter the number, the
matching channels are listed.

Bringing up channel list, programme


information
Press the up or down button to bring up the
channel list.
With the up or down button you can navigate
channels.
Select a channel and press the OK button to
tune to the channel.

Press the OK button to bring up the mini


guide.
With the left or right button you can browse
catch-up, on-now or next programmes, and
with the up or down button you can browse
programmes in other channels.

Press the i button to display details of the


current programme.

Changing options
Press the button to set subtitle and
audio description options. You can toggle
closed captions and audio description on or
off. Regardless of the subtitle display or hard
of hearing option in the main Settings, you
can turn it on or off for the current channel.

Live Restart
You can restart a live programme straight
away, before it becomes available on
demand.
If live restart is available, the GREEN button
popup will appear on live TV. Then, press
the green button to watch the current
programme from the start.
Note that this feature is available only for
BBC channels.

Pause, Rewind and Record live TV

Time Shifted Recording (TSR)


Your Freeview Play Recorder supports time shifted recording (TSR) that allows you to pause a
live programme and return to it later where you left off. The TSR function temporarily records the
programme you are watching on the hard drive for up to 2 hours.
With the pause, play, fast rewind and forward buttons, you’ll never miss a moment.

Instantly recording live TV


Whilst watching, press the button to record from when pressed until the end of the programme.
Press the button once again to extend the end of the recording duration by 10 minutes. This can
be done in increments of 10 minutes each time the button is pressed.
Press if you want to manually end the recording.
Tips:
• You can rewind live TV by up to x64 normal speed.
• Your recorder will automatically start to temporarily store live TV footage 10 seconds after
switching to that channel.
• TSR function will reset each time you change channels.

Browse up to 7 days in advance using the on-screen TV Guide.

Use the GUIDE button on your remote to access this screen.

Making a Selection
Select a programme and press the OK button to start watching it live or to bring up additional options.
Alternatively, you can enter the channel numbers to jump to that channel.

Changing channel group


1. Press the RED button to filter channels.
2. Select a group and press OK. You can change channel group by TV, audio described, signed,
HDTV, radio and favourites.

Sorting channels
1. Press the GREEN button to order channels.
2. Select a sorting manner and press OK. You can sort channels in numerical or alphabetical order.

Viewing what’s on next


1. Press the YELLOW button to jump to a future day.
2. Select a day and press OK. You can see the next days’ programmes up to 7 days in advance.

Searching programme by genre


1. Press the BLUE button to see programmes for each genre.
2. Select a specific genre and press OK. The programmes classified in the genre will be highlighted.

Watching previous shows
1. Press the left button to go back to see past programmes available in Catch up.
2. Select a programme and press OK. If the programme has been recorded or is available on Catch
up, you can play it back.
You can switch guide view mode between grid type and list type using the BLUE button.
Note: Catch up programmes are accessible only when connected to the Internet and that programme is
available on catch up from the broadcaster.

Setting favourite channels


1. Select a channel logo and press OK. A popup window will
appear displaying favourites.
2. Select a favourite group and press OK. The check box
toggles each time you press OK.
3. Save your selections. Your favourite channels are
categorised according to your preferences.

Setting quick reminder or recording


1. Select a future programme and press OK. Programme detail will display.
2. Select Remind or Record. The button is also available.
Note:
• If the programme conflicts with another programme, adjust the scheduling appropriately.
• If the channel is locked, you will be prompted to enter your password. The default password is 0000.

Reminder, Recording
Schedule reminders or recordings in several ways

Time-based Schedules
You can schedule recordings or reminders manually by setting time and channel.
1. Press button on your remote control. Alternatively, go to Freeview Play home and navigate
to Recordings.
2. Select Schedule menu and press OK.
3. Select Recordings and then +Add Recording to schedule recordings for future programmes. If you
want to set a reminder, select Reminder and then +Add Reminder.
4. Set the options and then press OK. New schedule will be added to the recording list.
Note: You can change the scheduling options with the GREEN button, but it is not possible to
reschedule series programmes and event-based programmes.

Event-based Schedules
You can schedule recordings or reminders for each programme.
For event-based recording, just simply press the RECORD button on a current or future programme.

Scheduling via TV guide


1. Go to TV Guide.
2. Select a programme and then press the RECORD button. With a single button press you can easily
set a recording.
If you want to set a reminder for future programme, press OK to have access to the programme
detail.
3. From the programme detail, select Record or Reminder to set a schedule.

Scheduling via channel list


1. Press the up or down button while viewing live TV to bring up the channel list.
2. Search a programme using the up or down button.
3. Press the RECORD button to start instant recording for current programme.

Scheduling via mini guide
1. Press OK while viewing live TV to bring up the mini guide.
2. Search a programme using the up, down, left or right button.
3. Press the RECORD button to record current or future programme.

Scheduling via programme details


1. You can press the information button at any time to access programme details.
2. Select Record or Reminder to set a schedule.

Stop recording
You can stop current recording or cancel a scheduled recording using the STOP button.
1. Select a scheduled programme from the channel list, simple guide or TV Guide.
2. Press the STOP button. Then, the scheduled recording will be cancelled.
Note: If you press the STOP button while watching live TV, the current recording list will appear. You can
select one from the list to stop current recording.

Recording List
Access all of your recordings and schedules from one place

Use the Recordings button on your remote to access this screen. You can also press the Freeview Play
button and navigate to Recordings.
Recordings are categorised for each channel and day, and you can see all the recordings in Programme
menu.
You can see To be deleted menu enabled when the HDD is almost full. The oldest recordings are
categorised in this section, and they will be deleted automatically until the HDD has 10% free space if
Auto Delete is set to on.
If you want to keep your favourites, lock the files. Locked files are excluded from the list of automatic
deletion.
You can switch recording view mode between grid type and list type. Select the icons at the top
right of the screen to change the mode according to your preference.

Playing Recorded Programmes


From here you can watch the recordings stored on your built-in hard disk drive.
Select a programme and press OK to play it back.

Editing Recordings
You can edit recordings with interactive colour keys. The keys are activated only in Programme menu.

Delete a recorded programme.

Lock or unlock a file. A password is required to unlock.

Sort recording list in recently recorded or alphabetical order.

Convert a file into mobile format. You can watch it on your mobile even without Wi-Fi.

Select or deselect a file

Time Shifted Recording (TSR)

Your Freeview Play Recorder supports time shifted recording (TSR) that allows you to pause a
live programme and return to it later where you left off. The TSR function temporarily records the
programme you are watching on the hard drive for up to 2 hours.
You can rewind live TV to watch missed scenes or forward live TV to skip scenes.
Press the PAUSE button to pause live TV.
Press the PLAY button to continue watching from where you paused live TV. Pressing the PAUSE
button starts a time gap between live TV and the point you pressed pause.
Press the REWIND button to start rewinding back to where you paused live TV. Press the Play
button at the point you want to start watching.
Press the FORWARD button when there is a time gap between the current watching point and the
live broadcast point.
Press the up button to bring up the thumbnails. By selecting one, you can jump to that point.

Watch unmissable TV suggestions via Live TV, On Demand, Catch up and Recordings. Here you can find

Use the Top Picks button on your remote to access this screen. Alternatively, go to Freeview Play home

Use the button on your remote to access this screen. Alternatively, go to Freeview Play home and
navigate to the search icon.

Searching by Keyword
You can search for your favourite shows from Live TV, Catch up, Recordings and On Demand.
Start entering a keyword using the numerical pad or select characters on-screen. Suggested searches
will appear on the screen each time you enter a character.
Your recorder will categorise content by On Demand, Now&Next, Recordings, Scheduled and Channels.
If your remote control is Bluetooth paired, it will recognise your voice.
Select the mic icon and speak keyword.

Freeview Settings
Access the settings of Freeview TV and Android TV as well. You can see the same settings menu
wherever you access, from Freeview TV Home or Android TV Home.
Select the settings icon at the top right and then press OK.
There are three chapters: Freeview Live TV Settings, Quick Settings and General Settings. In this
chapter, we will describe how to set Freeview TV from Freeview Live TV Settings menu.

Channel & Broadcasting

Channel
• Favourite Channels: Set your favourite channel groups in this menu. Select a group and press the
RED button to bring up the channel list. The channels you choose will be added to the favourite
group.
• Edit Channel List: You can lock or unlock channels in this menu. Select channels and press the
RED button. You need to enter the password to have access to this menu and unlock channels.
• Signal Test: You can check the signal strength and quality of channels found.
• Automatic Channel Search: You can search channels automatically without entering any other
information as long as your aerial is connected. When the channel search is complete, select SAVE
and press the OK button to save the results. Select STOP and press the OK button to stop the
channel search. Channels found will be saved.
• Manual Channel Search: You can search channels manually by fine-tuning parameters.
- Channel: Select the channel.
- Frequency: Enter the frequency. The corresponding frequency value will be automatically displayed.
- Transmission: Select DVB-T or DVB-T2.
- Bandwidth: Select the bandwidth.

Parental Control
• Guidance Policy: You can set parental guidance on recordings or Internet content during the
watershed period between 21:00-05:30 for adult content.
• Change Password: Enter a new password.
• Block Channel Settings: Press OK to switch on or off. If you want to block access to the Channel
Settings you have previously made, turn it on.
Note:
• Enter the password to view blocked programmes.
• The default password is 0000. If you have forgotten your password, please contact support.

Language
You can set the preferred language for audio and subtitles. (If applicable)

Video
• Display Format: You can set the display format to automatically fit the screen or to take up the full
width.
• Picture-in-Picture: Set to On to watch videos in a floating window always on top while using
another application.
• Resolution: Select the screen resolution depending on the resolutions your TV supports.
• AVI InfoFrame: AVI InfoFrame supports HDMI input synchronization. If your TV flickers with
channel change, turn off this option.

• Audio Description: Set to On to narrate the on-screen visuals which are available for visually
impaired viewers.
• Digital Audio: Set the sound option Stereo or Surround.
• Lip-sync Delay: You can adjust the delay between audio and video.

On-screen Display
• Info Display Timeout: You can set the duration the channel list and mini guide are displayed
whenever you change channels.
• Subtitle Display: You can set to display subtitles by default.
• Hard of Hearing: You can set to show closed captions.

Record & Share

Recording Options
• Start Padding Time / End Padding Time: You can set the recording padding time to add extra
recording time to the start and end of all your scheduled recordings.
Note: The start and end times set will override the broadcast for accurate recording.
• Auto Delete: Set to On to automatically delete older recordings when hard drive space is low.

Playback Options
• Series Play: Set to On to play back all episodes of a programme successively.
• Instant Replay and Skip Forward Time: Select the time to replay or skip the scene.

Remote Recording
• Remote Recording: Set to On to use the remote recording feature.
• Update Interval: Set the update interval to update remote recording information. Your recording
will wake up each time interval.

Registration Code
You can set up recordings on your product from your PC or mobile devices. To use this feature, you need
to register your product online.

2. You’ll need a registration code for certification. Select Get Registration Code and press the OK
button.
3. Enter the registration code online on the website.

technical data and related information to your device, system and application software.
• Open Source Software Licenses: Humax products use certain open source operating system
software. You can check the software source codes used in this product.

Location
• Regional Services: You can set the region where you are. Services may vary depending on the
region within or outside the United Kingdom.

System Settings
• Cookie Cleaner: You can delete your browsing activity on Freeview apps.
• Allow third-party Cookies: You can delete or keep the third party cookies.
• LED Brightness: Your box has a colour indicator at the front bottom of your box. You can adjust
the LED brightness.
• HDMI CEC: If your recorder is connected to the HDMI CEC supported TV, you can set the TV to turn
on or off automatically alongside the recorder. If CEC Switch is set to On, the TV turns on or off
automatically together with turning on or off the recorder. If One Key Power Off is set to On, the
recorder turns off with TV off.
• System Information: You can view the system information.
• Freeview Reset: You can restore your recorder to its initial settings with this option. Once you
enter the password, the system will clear Freeview setting options and then start the channel
search. Note that you will lose all the information on TV Apps, channel list, and Freeview settings.

Watch live TV and recordings around your home or on the go with the Humax Aura app.
You can watch live TV and your recordings on your smartphone just as you would as if you
were watching TV at home.
To use the Humax Aura app, you need a mobile device that supports Android 4 or later or

Downloading app
1. Open the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.
2. Search by keyword Humax.
3. Select Aura.
4. Tap INSTALL to download the app on your mobile phone.

Signing in
1. Open Aura.
2. Tap Get started to start registration.
3. Sign in with your account.
If you do not have an account, you can create your own account. You
may need a valid e-mail, username and password.

Note: You can have access to myhumax.net with the same account.

Register to box
1. If your mobile and Humax box are connected to the same
network, you can see the list of boxes on your mobile.
2. Select your Freeview box on your mobile.
3. Go to Settings > Record & Share > Registration Code from the
Freeview box.
4. Enter the registration code to your mobile. Once both are
successfully connected, you can start exploring the Aura app.
Note:
• You can install and log in to the Aura app on multiple devices, but
you may stream only two live channels at the same time.
• To get the registration code, you need to agree with the privacy
policy & terms and conditions. Go to Settings > Freeview Play
Preference and select Privacy Policy & Terms and Conditions.

Setting reminders or recordings


You can set a reminder or recording remotely.

series if the programme is part of a series.
Note:
• Setting a reminder or recording should be made 30 minutes before
the live TV programme starts.
• It may take several minutes to synchronise schedules between

CVBS (Composite Video Baseband Signal)
A technology for transmitting video signals via a cable. Mixes luminance (brightness) and the
chrominance (colour) signals together.

Dolby Digital
An encoding system that digitally compresses up to 5.1 discrete channels of audio (left front, centre,
right front, left surround, right surround) into a single Bit-stream. A low frequency effect (LFE) channel
is included providing the sound needed for special effects.

DVB (Digital Video Broadcasting)


A set of standards that define digital broadcasts using satellite, cable or terrestrial systems.

EPG (Electronic Program Guide)


An electronic equivalent to a printed television listings magazine. It is an application used with
digital set-top boxes and digital television sets to list current and scheduled programs that are or
will be available on each channel, including a short summary or commentary for each Program. The

Frequency

Take a look at solutions to commonly known problems.
Before contacting the customer service centre, make sure to read the tips below carefully. If the
problem persists after you complete the following procedure, please contact customer service on:

No light at the bottom of • Check the main power cable and make sure it is plugged into a

Nothing shows on TV • Make sure the box is powered on and in operation mode.
• Make sure the HDMI cable is firmly connected to the TV.
• Check if the channel is currently on air.
• Check your TV is on the correct input source for the HDMI
connection. (Refer to your TV manual for more details on how to
change the input source.)
• Check the brightness of TV.

No channels • Make sure the aerial cable is properly connected to the box.
• Search channels again. Go to Settings > Freeview Live TV Settings >
Channel & Broadcast > Automatic Channel Search.
• Check if the channel is currently on air.

Poor picture or sound • Make sure there is no electronic devices near the box.
quality • Keep the power and aerial cables apart from each other.
• Adjust the antenna direction to get a better picture.
Note: If the antenna is covered with snow, the RF is weakened
by heavy rain, or the aerial position is changed by strong wind,
then the condition of the sound and picture may temporarily be
poor. However, the poor sound and picture quality due to weather
conditions cannot be accepted as a malfunction of box.

No sound • Make sure the HDMI cable is firmly connected to the TV.
• Check the volume level of your TV and box.
• Check if your TV or box is on mute.
• Check audio type or soundtrack option.

No volume control on HD • Check the HDMI audio setting. Go to Settings > Freeview Live TV
channels Settings > Channel & Broadcast > Audio and then change the Digital
Audio to Stereo.

No response to remote control • Check the batteries in the remote control.

No password information • The default password is always 0000.

Channel search does not work • Make sure the aerial cable is properly connected to the box.
• [Terrestrial] Use the appropriate aerial capable of receiving VHF or
UHF channels for your area.

Cannot update new • Make sure the network is configured properly. Go to Settings >
software General Settings > Network & Internet.
Note: If your box stays connected to the network, every time you turn
off the box it will search for any updates available on air.

Cannot schedule • Check if there is a previous schedule conflicting with a new

Cannot record • The hard disk is full. Delete unnecessary programmes and make
programmes space for new recording.
• Check if recording conflicts with another channel. Stop the current
recording or wait until the recording is finished.
• Make sure the product is switched on when recording starts.

Cannot change • This box has 3 tuners. This allows you to record up to 4 different
channels while channels and watch a 5th live channel. There may be limitations
recording on the 4th channel you can record or the live TV channel you try to
watch depending on the channels you are recording.

First or end bits of • Set the padding times enough. Go to Settings > Freeview Live TV
programme are missing Settings > Record & Share > Recording Options and set the padding

Cannot connect to the • Make sure the network is configured properly. Go to Settings >

• Turn off the product and the router and then on to refresh the network.
• If you use an Ethernet cable, change the Ethernet cable for another.
• If you connect the box to the router wirelessly, move the box closer
to the wireless router or remove any obstacles from between them.
• If wireless network is not available in your home, use an Ethernet
cable to connect the box to the router.
Note: The home network environment may cause the internet
speed slow down.

Incorrect date and time • Synchronization with time server may be failed. Go to Settings >
Device Preferences > Date & Time and turn off the automatic date
& time for 10 seconds. If not, turn off and unplug the box, wait
30 seconds, then plug back in. Make sure you are connected to
the Internet, as your box gets the date and time from your Internet
connection.

Does not recognize voice • Make sure the remote control is Bluetooth paired with the box.

Warranty
The warranty does not cover parts which may become defective due to misuse of the information
contained in this manual.
1. The HUMAX Warranty is valid for a period of one year from the date of first purchase.
2. In the event that this product fails to function properly during the warranty period, the retailer or
distributor will make this product capable of operating for the purpose of which it was designed,
without charging for labour and parts.
3. This warranty will be honoured only if the Warranty Certificate has been duly completed by the
purchaser and is presented to the retailer with the original invoice or receipt.
4. This warranty does not cover shipping or transportation charges from you to us.
5. The obligations of HUMAX are limited to the repair of defect parts. Costs and risks of transport
to the retailer as well as removal and installation of the product, and any other costs directly or
indirectly related to its repair, are not covered by the warranty.
6. All warranty repairs performed by non-authorized repair shops will not be reimbursed and if such
repairs damage this product such damage will not be covered by this warranty.
7. This warranty is not applicable in cases other than defects in materials or workmanship and, in
particular, does not cover:
a. Periodic check-ups, adjustments, maintenance or conversions as well as replacement of parts
due to normal wear and tear;
b. Damage caused by accidents, negligence, modifications, use of non-HUMAX parts, improper
use, installation or package;
c. Damage caused by lightning, water, fire, acts of war, public disturbances, incorrect mains
voltages, incorrect ventilation or any other cause beyond the control of HUMAX.
d. Products where the label bearing the serial number has been removed, defaced or is illegible.
8. This warranty is offered to any person who has legally obtained possession of this product within
the warranty period.
9. HUMAX’s maximum liability shall not exceed the actual purchase price paid by you for the product.
In no event shall HUMAX be liable for special, incidental, consequential or indirect damages.

1. POWER SUPPLY
• Operate this product only from the type of power supply shown on the marking label. If you do not
know the type of power supplied to your home, contact your local power company.
• Disconnect the power supply before you start any maintenance or installation procedures.
2. OVERLOADING
• Make sure that the wall outlet, extension cord and adapter have a sufficient power rating for the
appliance. If not, this can cause an electric fire shock.
3. LIQUID
• Do not expose this product to liquids. Do not put objects filled with liquid on the product.
4. CLEANING
• Disconnect the product from the wall outlet before you clean it.
• Use a moist cloth to clean the product. Do not use solvents. Wipe the surface gently with a soft
cloth as it may get scratched.
5. VENTILATION
• Make sure that the slots on top of the product are not blocked. It is necessary to have a sufficient
airflow into the unit.
• Do not put electronic equipment on the product.
• Do not put objects on the product. This will block the ventilation or cause damage to the surface.
6. ATTACHMENTS
• Do not use any unsupported attachments as these may be hazardous or cause damage to the product.
7. LIGHTNING, STORM OR NOT IN USE
• Unplug the power cable from the wall outlet and disconnect the antenna during a thunderstorm
or when left unattended and unused for long periods of time. This will prevent damage to the unit
due to lightning and power-surges.
8. EXTRANEOUS OBJECTS
• Do not insert anything through the openings in the unit, where they can touch dangerous voltage
points or damage parts.
9. REPLACEMENT OF PARTS
• When replacement of parts is required, be sure the service technician uses replacement parts
specified by the manufacturer or those that have the same characteristics as the original part.
Unauthorised substitution may result in additional damage to the unit.
10.CONNECTION TO THE SATELLITE DISH LNB/CABLE TV SIGNAL/AERIAL
• Disconnect the power supply before you connect or disconnect the cable from the satellite dish/
cable TV signal/aerial. If not, this can cause damage to the LNB/cable TV line/aerial.
11.CONNECTION TO THE TV
• Disconnect the power supply before you connect or disconnect the cable from the TV. If not, this
can cause damage to the TV.
12.ENVIRONMENT
• Attention should be drawn to the environmental aspects of battery disposal.
• Care is required for the use of this apparatus in tropical and/or moderate climates.
13.LOCATION
• Place the product indoors to avoid exposure to lightning, rain or sun. Do not place it near a
radiator or heat register.
• Keep at least 10 cm clearance from any other appliances susceptible to electromagnetic
influences such as a TV or a VCR.
• If you place the product on a rack or a bookcase, make sure that there is adequate ventilation and
that you have followed the manufacturer’s instructions for mounting.
• Do not place the product on an unstable surface where it can fall. A falling product can cause
serious injury to a personnel and serious damage to the appliance.

1. TO AVOID DAMAGE OF POWER CORD OR PLUG
• Do not modify or process the power cord or plug arbitrarily.
• Do not bend or twist the power cord.
• Make sure to disconnect the power cord while you hold the plug.
• Keep heating appliances as far as possible from the power cord to prevent the cover vinyl from
melting.
• The mains plug, as a disconnection device, shall remain readily accessible by the user.

2. TO AVOID ELECTRICAL SHOCK
• Do not open the main body.
• Do not insert metal or inflammable objects inside the product.
• Do not touch the power plug with wet hands.
• Disconnect the power cord in case of lightning.
• Unplug the power cable before you install the aerial cable.
3. TO AVOID DAMAGE OF PRODUCT
• Do not use the product when it is out of order. If you continue to use the product when defective,
this may cause serious damage. Make sure to contact the customer service centre if the product
is out of order.
• Do not insert metal or alien substance into the slots for the modules. It may cause damage to the
product and reduce its life span.
• Do not overly pile objects on the product. It may cause cracks, deformation and discolouration.
• Do not expose the product to electromagnetic fields. Electromagnetic interferences (EMI) from
other electronic devices or cables may cause malfunction to the HUMAX product.
4. TO AVOID DAMAGE OF HDD
• Do not move the product or turn the power off suddenly while the hard disk drive is running.
• The company shall not be liable for any corruption of data on the hard disk drive caused by
carelessness or misuse of the user.
