I.OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson the learners must be able to:

2. Value the importance of different types of marking, pinning and sewing tools:
3. Arrange the different types of marking, pinning and sewing tools according to its usage.

Greetings: Good morning class!
Good morning ma’am!
Classroom Management
Before you sit, pick up those small pieces of
paper under you chair and sit properly.
Attendance:
Checking of attendance, one by one.
Review/Recall
Before we proceed to our topic let us review
our previous lesson.
What is our previous topic? cutting tools ma’am
Very good!
Can you give at least 4 cutting tools we Sewing gauge, pinking scissors and
discussed? embroidery scissors ma’am
Very good!
Why we need to use different cutting tools? Ma’am we need to use different cutting tools
because not all the scissors are applicable for
all cutting works.
Motivation
The student will play “pass the message”
Mechanics:
The students will be group into 4 and they
will pass the message until the message
reach the last member and the last member
will spell it out in front.
B. LESSON PROPER
PRESENTATION
Do you have any idea what is our topic for
today? Ma’am about marking and pinning tools.
Marking Tools- are required for
transferring pattern markings to garment
fabric pieces and making alterations on
garments.
Chalk pencils/ Dressmaker pencil –This is
available in white or pastel shades. This
chalk pencil is used to make fine lines on
fabric it has an erasing brush at one end.
Liquid Marking Pen – has two types the
one that washes out (should not be used on
fabric that show water marks.) and one that
fades after 48 hours (that should be
removed before pressing the fabric.)
Tailor’s Chalk- this is essential as a marker
for use on materials, it is available in a range
of colors and is removed by brushing.
Wax Chalk- This is available in black or
white and is used for woolen fabrics. Wax
can be remove by pressing.
Tracing Wheel –There are two types of
tracing wheel, those with serrated edge and
those with smooth edge.
Dressmaker’s carbon paper- also called
dressmaker’s tracing paper is especially
waxed carbon paper that transfer’s the
tracing wheel’s marking to fabrics.
PINNING AND SEWING TOOLS
Pincushion- holds the straight pins and
needles while working to prevent accidents.
Hand Needle- used in making temporary
stitches and buttonholes size of 7-10 are for
general hand sewing.
Sewing Needle Threader- it aids in putting
the thread to the needle.
Thimble- a small hard pitted cup worn for
protection on the finger that pushes the
needle in sewing.
MATERIALS
Fabric- is the cloth used in making
garments.
Thread- is used in assembling or
constructing the parts of the garment.
Application
The will identify the different marking tools
and give the uses of pinning and sewing
tools

1. Why do we need to study those Ma’am because sometimes we need to fix our
marking, pinning and sewing tools? own clothes that is why we need to study the
marking, pinning and sewing tools for us to
know what we will use.
