Q1. Discuss the events taking place in

the photos below, their context, and any
possible ramifications.
Photo 1:

Perhaps this newspaper is published in 1945, towards the ending of World War Two.
Japan is a power from
the axis forces. Their expansionist ideas cause them to take over many colonies and
countries in the pacific. The United States is then impacted by their policies, deciding
to set policies for Japan. This leads to the bombing of Pearl Harbor, and the nuclear
bombing in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. After such hard war, Japan surrenders and
decides to quit war. This even finalizes World War Two.

Photo 2:

A photo of the Nazi army, a huge force in World War Two led by Adolf Hitler. The Nazi
party is a nationalist party that hoped to create a country that unites all German-
speaking people. The Nazis had allied with Italy and Japan in hopes of conquering
most parts of the world. Hitler’s Blitzkrieg technique in war allowed him to attack
suddenly and vastly, where he started taking over many places. In addition, Hitler
created one on the most important military plans: Barbarossa, done against the USSR
with a siege that lasted long. Although Nazis are powerful in military terms, they also
hold extremism, leading to massacres of Jewish people and any person who did not
meet their standards of human. At the end of World War Two, Germany is defeated,
and Adolf Hitler commits suicide, marking an event that causes the end of World War
Two.

Photo 3:
A photo of Trench warfare in World War One, a present method of soldiers hiding in
tunnels that are dug by the army in spreading around large areas of land. This method
is usually done with both opponents building trenches, and soldiers shooting at one
another will hiding in their own space. Opponent trenches are separated with a no-
man’s zone, where opponents do not reach to the opponent’s side of trenches.
Trench warfare is exceedingly difficult and harmful for soldiers, leading them to
become injured or die due to the moisture of trenches, little resources, and the
poisonous gas that the enemy can attack with.

Q.2 Identify the ideology associated with each one of the two images below. Discuss
how the belief in each ideology helped shape history.
Photo 1:

The ideology of Nationalism, tis ideology focuses on the concept of being extremely
loyal to one’s nation and wanting to create a nation-state for the people of this nation.
This ideology is a very integral and long-lasting ideology through history. Beginning
with the young nationalist Serb (Gabriello) that assassinated Archduke of Austria-
Hungary, with Gabriello being a nationalist person, and with that opposing the
imperialism of Austria-Hungary. Another extremely important example is Adolf Hitler’s
ideas where he hopes to create a nation state for German-speaking people, resulting
in World War two.

Photo 2:

Liberalism, an ideology that beliefs in giving all humans their right to live with many
freedoms, including political and economic freedoms. They believe in achieving this
through giving democratic freedom, and economic freedom through free trade.
President Wilson followed this ideology and believed that joining the league of
nations is integral to Liberalism as it gives rights to countries who join. The League of
Nations is created with the purpose of preventing any wars that occurred similarly to
World War One. However, the United States Senate are isolationist, which means that
this ideology goes against what they believe in, with them not creating foreign
interactions with other countries. This led to the United States not joining the League
of Nations.
