Accomplishment Report - Buwan NG Pagbasa 2023
PROGRAM TITLE:
Introduction:
Curriculum and Implementation Division (CID) Chief Evelyn F. Importante and Ded.Ed.’s Zamboanga
Sibugay Division Program Supervisor (EPS) Estrelita A. Peña, Sulo National High School joins the
nationwide Pambansang Buwan at Araw ng Pagbasa vis-à-vis Reading Month Celebration with the
General Objectives:
The main goal of the event is to cater the love for reading of the students in and outside the
school. Moreover to capacitate that reading is as important as education that plays very well in
every learner’s life and to those individuals – the youth whose world is behind the four corners of the
classroom. Teachers at the same time must have a heart that listens to those whose reading is very
low
and to those whose level reach independently. Apparently, families and everyone at home serves as
the first teachers whether or not they are professionals nor a bystanders – we are at least know how
to

NARRATIVE REPORT
It was last November 13, 2023 at exactly 7:30 in the morning when the bell rang for the Flag
Raising Ceremony of Sulo National High School. Students gathered in the field wearing excitements and
gladness for they were eagerly present to join the Kick – Off activities of the Pambansang Buwan at
Araw ng Pagbasa 2023. The day was a fine day and yet very entertaining when Mrs. Vanessa H. Cabahug
the English Department Coordinator reads the Program of Activities. Every learner listens – smiles,
laughter’s and chit chat were heard above the stage but some were confused and had a frown faces
but as Mam Vanessa keeps on talking students understood what this Pambansang Buwan at Araw ng
Pagbasa was all about. It was then followed by the installation of the Reading Pantry at the SPED Room
headed by Mrs. Marites B. Tumacas with the language teachers as well as the English and Filipino Club
Officers. In the Reading Pantry students were encouraged to donate books, stories, newspapers or
magazines to be arranged in the pantry. Every student is welcome to read during their free time. A week
on that day was the conduct of the Read- A – Thon activities – this was done every English and Filipino
class. Along with this Read – A – Thon were the Story Retelling and Oral Reading and Interpretation
Every class must have at least two to three readers in a day. The intention is for students to practice
enunciating, blending of sounds, correct pronunciation and articulation of words. After a week, every
class were noisy every after last period in the afternoon for it was a practice time. Advisers were very
alive letting their students do best during the practice. No one wasted the time. Every learner was a
little excited.
The judgment day came, when the Culmination day of the Pambansang Buwan at Araw ng
Pagbasa was announced. Students were very busy doing everything – they were told to gather
themselves in the covered court. Students were dressed differently and had worn colorful dresses,
some brought flashcards, helmets, flowers and the like as their props. Advisers were at the same time
busy going there and here to check every one of the participants. This day was on November 28, 2023 at
exactly 7:30 in the fine morning. The activities were the Book Talk – where the Grades 7 and Grades 8
were the first on the list to compete followed by the Grades 9 and Grades 10 then the Grades 11 and
Grades 12. Next was the slogan contest to be contested every curriculum and held at the Grade 8 – Rizal
classroom. After that was the scrabble contest – still to be contested every curriculum. On the stage,
was the Dugtungan sa Pagbasa and the Reading Challenge. The atmosphere was very quiet for every one
listens patiently at the readers. Hence, in the afternoon was the continuation of the scrabble contest
held at the Grade 11 – Genesis classroom. Apparently, the Spelling Bee Contest and Speech Choir was
of winners was delivered by Mr. Rhannie D. Corbita Teacher II of the Senior High Department. Everybody
applauded the winners some accepted defeat for as long as the contest was a fair play. The program
was
closed by a Words of Gratitude given by Mrs. Marites B. Tumacas, Teacher III of the English
Department.

Reading Pantry – is a one place in school where students can relax and grab a book to read. It is a
place where bookworms love for reading be catered.
B. Read – A – Thon
a. Story Retelling
Story Retelling – is when the teacher can read a story and after a while will retell the same story to
someone who believes in fantasies. Students are given enough time to read the story and determine the
same thought as the stories
Oral Reading Interpretation – is also called “interpretive reading”’ The oral or the printed
materials often used as a measure of a student’s overall reading performance to check comprehension that
cannot be observed directly in silent reading.
D. Book Talk
Book Talk – is a thirty second two minute speech designed to encourage students to read a book,
giving an idea of plot, characters or themes of the book. It is to motivate listeners in order to foster good
reading, writing and speaking skills by encouraging self-directed learning through reading.
F. Scrabble Contest
Scrabble – a word game in which players use lettered tiles to create words in a crossword fashion.
This is a mind game that excites students to create a word whether it ia four lettered or more than the
longest word.
G. Dugtungan sa Pagbasa
Dugtungan sa Pagbasa – is a reading strategy wherein group of students will read a chosen story and
continue reading until the end part. Voice quality, diction and pronunciation are continuously spoken
form the start to the end part.
H. Reading Challenge
Reading Challenge – is a game in reading whose goal is to make students read a certain number of
books in a given time. It is a good practice where frustration readers can ask the teacher how to read such
a word.
Spelling Bee – these are series of words arranged in an alphabetical order or a selected words to
be spelled out in front or in class. Students who are good readers are the ones who top in the spelling bee
contest.
J. Speech Choir
Speech choir – allows students to recite a verse, a story or a rhyme in unison with elements of a
choreography. Student’s experience how to deliver a text in a lively atmosphere as they perform in group.
