Smart Talking and Interviewing

The ability to talk effectively is one of the most empowering skills that everyone can have.
Senior High School students will be assessed with their talking skills through this competition.

Mechanics:
1. The participant is a bona fide Senior High School student of Laureta National High School
under the Humanities and Social Sciences Track.
2. There will be (1) one Smart Talker and (1) one Interviewer per team.
3. The participants will undergo three categories: Easy round, Average round, and Difficult
round.
4. Topics will be given per category:
5. Categories:
5.1 1st Round – TOPICS: biographical questions, trivial questions, Yes/No questions
 On the first round, the interviewers per team will be tasked to throw
questions to the Smart Talkers per team. Each interviewer will be given 1
minute to ask per Smart Talker.
o Interviewer 1 vs. ST 2, ST3, ST4
o Interviewer 2 vs. ST 1, ST3, ST4
o Interviewer 3 vs. ST 1, ST2, ST4
o Interviewer 4 vs. ST 1, ST2, ST3
 After this round, the adjudicators will choose Top 3 interviewers and Top
3 Smart Talkers to proceed to the next round.

5.2 2nd Round – TOPICS: philosophical views, questions within the scope of HUMSS
 On the second round, the interviewers will be tasked to interview the
assigned Smart Talker to them. Each interviewer will be given 1 minute to
ask per Smart Talker.
o Interviewer 1 vs. ST 2, ST 3
o Interviewer 2 vs. ST 1, ST 3
o Interviewer 3 vs. ST 1, ST 2
 After this round, the adjudicators will choose 2 interviewers and 2 smart
talkers. They will immediately will proceed to the final round.

5.3 3rd Round – TOPICS: social issues (local and international)


 On the final round, the order of the competition will be as follows:
o Interviewer 1 vs. Smart Talker 1, Smart Talker 2
o Interviewer 2 vs. Smart Talker 1, Smart Talker 2
 Each interviewer will be given 2 minutes to ask the Smart Talkers.
6. A green flag signals that the interviewer may start throwing questions, a yellow flag
means last 15 seconds, and a red flag means that the time has ended for the
interviewers and smart talkers.
7. The adjudicators will only choose (1) one best Interviewer and (1) one best Smart Talker.
Criteria for Judging:
Wit and Intelligence - 35%
Organization/ relevance of ideas/ Topic shared - 35%
Articulation and diction - 20%
Stage presence - 10%
Total 100%
