GENERIC NAME Prazosin Hydrochloride
BRAND NAME Prazosin 2mg Tablet
SPECIFIC INDICATION Specific : Hypertension (High blood pressure)
Other indications : Left ventricular heart failure, Raynaud’s
Phenomenon/ Syndrome, Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia
STRENGTH Prazosin belongs to the group of medicines called alpha-
blockers.
It works by reducing peripheral vascular resistance and
blood pressure as a result of its vasodilating effects.
DOSE 2mg twice daily
INSTRUCTION Take Prazosin at the same time every day. Starting dose is
best taken at night, before going to sleep.
May be taken with or without food. Swallow the tablet with a
glass of water.
If forget to use it, take the missed dose as soon as
remember. If it is almost time for the next dose, wait until
then to take the medicine and skip the missed dose. Do not
take a double dose to make up for the missed dose.
If use too much/ overdose, immediately go to nearest
hospital emergency department even if there are no signs of
discomfort or poisoning. Take the carton or any remaining
tablets.

MEDICINE STORAGE Store below 30°c.
Store in original package to protect from heat, moisture and
light.
Do not store in the bathroom, near a sink or leave it at the
window sill or in the car.
Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
CONTRAINDICATIONS Have allergic reaction to prazosin hydrochloride, the active
ingredient, any related medicine or to any other inactive
ingredients in the tablets (Lactose, corn starch, povidone k-
90, sodium starch glycolate, talcum, magnesium stearate
and polysorbate 80).
Have ever had a reaction which included swelling of the
hands, lips, face or tongue with unknown causes.
ADVERSE REACTIONS Common reactions :
Dizziness, fatigue, palpitations, headache and nausea.
Rare reactions, but have also been reported :
Vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal discomfort,
edema (swelling due to fluid retention), dyspnea (breathing
difficulty), syncope (fainting), tachycardia (fast heart beat),
orthostatic hypotension, chest pain, nervousness,
paresthesia, skin rashes, urinary frequency, impotence,
blurred vision, reddened sclera, tinnitus, dry mouth and

nasal congestion.
USE IN PREGNANCY Pregnancy :
AND LACTATION
FDA Pregnancy Risk Category: Category C
The safety use of prazosin during pregnancy has not been
established.
Prazosin tablet should only be used only when clearly
needed and when the potential benefits outweigh the
unknown potential hazards to the fetus.
Lactation :
Prazosin is distributed into milk in small amount and should
be used with caution in nursing mothers.
SHAPE Round biconvex tablet with a break-line and figure ‘2’ on one side
and the letters ‘TOC’ on the other.
