End-Plate Connection Design Analysis

The document analyzes an end-plate moment connection through both computational and analytical methods. It presents figures showing the connection details and computational results. It then describes a 5-step analytical design process to determine the bolt diameter, end plate thickness, and moment resistance. The analytical design is verified against the computational model results, finding good agreement between the two methods.

The end-plate connection is subjected to bending moment of 600 kip-in (6778,8

kN.cm) and is composed by two rows of tension bolts (ASTM F3125 Gr. A325). The
steel plate is composed by ASTM A572 Gr.50.
