A 15-year old girl got pregnant

1. Abort the fetus

Consequences: (the effect of an action)
a. It may lead to bad health especially bodies complication such as
cramping, pelvic pain, uterine damage, injury to the bowel, bladder, or
cervix, heavy bleeding, or more serious complications. Blood loss,
damage to the uterus, and infection are the most common side effects.

b. Maternal outcomes, pregnancy in the teenage years carries an

increased risk of some medical and obstetric complications but a
decreased risk of others. Recent studies suggest that the most
commonly cited adverse outcomes of preterm birth and low birthweight
may relate mainly to issues of sociodemographic disadvantage and
substance use in pregnancy. Therefore, support from a
multidisciplinary team ideally including the GP, midwife, obstetrician
and social work team throughout pregnancy is vital.
c. The guilt you hold forever, the Emotional side effects are not
uncommon after an abortion, or pregnancy termination, whether it was
planned or not. In some cases, depression can occur. However, the
link between pregnancy termination and depression remains unclear.
Guilt will slowly eat you every day, let’s just say that it’s the best
decision you will made if you abort the fetus in your womb, but the guilt
inside you will always remain, maybe you could get rid the baby inside
your womb easily but not all you guilt.

2. Carry, deliver, and raise the baby

Consequences:
a. Physical Problem, becoming a mother in some teens has been
associated with several health problems. These problems could be
related to pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum and breastfeeding. Some
adolescent mothers had experienced hyperemesis gravid arum, eating
disorders, anemia, bleeding, and preeclampsia during pregnancy. Most
had endured a difficult birth, dystocia, disruption of the normal process
of childbirth, non-elective cesarean birth, and physical consequences of
hard labor. Also, small breast, breast fissures, and mastitis were
expressed by the majority of teenage mothers. Most teenage mothers
needed to receive support because they were faced with new roles,
increased responsibilities, health problems, rising costs, and
knowledge deficit. Without adequate support they experienced serious
challenges in adapting to motherhood.

b. Emotional and mental distress - Teenage mothers stated that accepting

the role of motherhood is associated with emotional and mental
distress such as fear and worry, regret and frustration, guilt and shame,
depression, and disruption in relationship of couples. Fear and worry
were mainly derived from incompetence to accept the responsibilities of
motherhood. Teenage mothers also worried about difficult situations in
pregnancy and childbirth which were caused by insufficient physical
maturity. The regret was associated with unwanted pregnancy,
problems related to pregnancy and motherhood, and loss of previous
desired position. Incompetence in performing the maternal role
developed a sense of guilt and self-blame. Some teenage mothers
experienced depression, particularly in the postpartum period.
Emotional and physical changes of teenage mothers led to tension and
disruption of relationship with partner and family.

c. Role Conflict - Early motherhood causes numerous conflicts in

adolescent mothers such as conflict of maternal and student role, and
conflict of maternal and adolescent role. Pregnancy and child care
results in the inability of teenage mothers to studying and are
eventually deprived of education. Early motherhood was in conflict with
the special features of adolescence. Although teenage mothers tended
to be independent but they had to receive help from others to perform
motherhood roles. This causes conflict between independence and
dependence in adolescents. Most of teenage mothers were willing to
continue their relationship with their friends, but after becoming a
mother lost the opportunity of being with friends. Childcare had
deprived them of fun with friends and peers. Despite becoming a
mother, adolescents were still willing to take risks. They do not
understand the need for caution in pregnancy, childbirth and child care.
They also do not show interest towards safety and health advice. Some
teen mothers struggled between personal need and child care, this
resulted in a neglect of them or their child, and the presence of the
child disallowed self-centered behaviors.
3. Force the father of the baby to marry her and raise the baby
a. The loss of education. Many teens really want to continue their
education, however, with parenthood it’s not possible. So, this
actually means that they spent years for educating, but all of a
sudden, they have to give it up. Actually, this happens mostly
because of being afraid of being bullied.

b. Another consequence for teenage father is definitely the problem

of lower income. Many teenagers spend their money on the
children, because they are parents and they have to take care of
the baby first. So as parents they sacrifice the income for the
baby. Sometimes, if the financial situation is really bad, then
both parents have to work. This is even worse, because it is too
difficult to work and to keep the child at the same time.

c. Forced living together or force marriage will not work out to anyone
especially if they are together but out of love and just because of the
baby. Anyone forced into living together faces an increased risk such
as physical and sexual abused as they may not wish to consent and
lack of communication to each other and their conflicts over things they
can’t both understand.
