The C A P T A I N' S C O D E

As Captain's, we are modern day pirates. What does this mean? We are
fighting to restore balance and #MakeThrivingStandard through
steering The Wheel of Lifestyle Optimization. We are rebelling
against the made up laws of society, standing up to the status quo,
and rejecting mediocrity. We have rewritten the rules to live a
happy, healthy, and productive life as a Man using The CAPTAIN’S
CODE. With the help of The Crew, we are redistributing power and
retelling the story of what it means to THRIVE as Men.

The CAPTAIN’S CODE are the fundamental articles you must


practice to properly steer The Wheel of Lifestyle Optimization and
#LiveTheCaptainsLifestyle. They must be implemented and adhered
to daily. Anything less is steering you off course and is considered
mutiny against yourself and other Crew Members. We must hold each
other accountable to The CODE so together, we will
#MakeThrivingStandard.

Cold Exposure
“We have become alienated from nature, but the cold is capable of bringing us back
to what we once have lost” - Wim Hoff

DESCRIPTION:
Cold exposure triggers a biological protective mechanism called ‘hormesis,’ which makes you more
resilient to future stressors. Just like training a muscle and becoming stronger over time, cold exposure
will make you mentally & physically stronger and harder to kill.

It is most powerful when incorporated first thing in the morning, when you least want to do it, because
of the mental fortitude it builds as well as helping you wake up by supercharging your nervous system
and raising your core body temperature which supports your circadian rhythm (your body's sleep/wake
system). This way, you can upgrade your mind and body while eliminating reliance on liquid cortisol:
coffee. You are training your willpower and becoming a Man who doesn't run away from challenge, but
instead, charges towards it with ferocity.

a prisoner of our own mind. You experience the life you are living today, because of the person you
decided to become.

Your brain is a computer that has been programmed by your surroundings since you were born. Your

Play with Life

DESCRIPTION:
Do you remember when you were a kid? How easily could you lose track of time on the playground? The
times you could find joy anywhere you went and with any random object? Your creativity was at its peak.

But at some point we all transitioned from exploring the world through play to facing the burdens of
adulthood with bitterness. We went from being a kid to being a “grown up.”

For some reason (past programming), most adults view play as a waste of time, but how can something that
brings you joy, lowers stress and makes you more creative be a waste?

We all have challenges to face in our adult lives, in these times nothing can be more beneficial than
distancing ourselves once in a while, letting go of all the stress and just playing. When you come back
you may view the “problem” from a completely different angle or, even better, you may not even view it
as a problem at all anymore.

Break out of the matrix that is holding you hostage and start viewing life as a game, where you are free
to roam and overcome challenges to level up and explore what life has to offer.

Examples for play can be:


Painting or coloring.
Grappling with friends.
Climbing trees.
Dance.
Building a business.

DESCRIPTION:
Captains consistently train their body and their mind so they may dominate their environment.

By constantly pushing yourself to become better, mentally and physically, you will be rewarded with a
fulfilled, joyful life of confidence and vitality so you may fulfill your purpose as a Man.

We are supposed to be outside, moving, jumping, climbing, learning, discovering and exploring. We are
supposed to challenge our bodies and our brains. Nothing can make you less attractive and age faster than
a sedentary and comfortable lifestyle of mediocrity. Exit your comfort zone.

The benefits of movement and training your brain go beyond being healthy and attractive. They allow you
to get in touch with yourself, with your body and mind, constantly conquering and overcoming your
limitations to become a better, more capable Man.

Mental and physical toughness will give you a huge advantage in a world full of weak men. It prepares you
to overcome hard times. It makes you more resilient and harder to kill.

This doesn't mean you have to spend hours in the gym every day. It's about living an active lifestyle,
implementing movement and brain activities as often as you can. Your default state should be movement.

Accept the Uncontrollable
“To complain is always nonacceptance of what is. When you complain, you make yourself into a victim. If

DESCRIPTION:
The only things you have true control over are your thoughts, feelings, and actions in this very
moment. Instead of blaming external circumstances or other people for all of our “problems,” Captains
take ownership of their own lives.

The stoics taught that “if we recognize that all events have been foreseen by the logos (God, source,
the universe, etc.) and form part of its plan, and that the plan in question is unfailingly good (as it must
be), then it follows that we must accept whatever fate has in store for us, however unpleasant it may
appear, trusting that, in Alexander Pope’s phrase ‘whatever is, is right.’” - Gregory Hays

Captains accept the cards we have been dealt then improvise, adapt, and overcome.

Most people make themselves unhappy simply by finding it hard to accept life as it is presenting itself
right now, in this moment. They’d rather relive the “glory days” of the past or fantasize about “how
much better things could be” in the future. Neither of which are happening NOW.

If you worry too much about what might be or could happen (anxiety), and reminisce too long about what
should have been (depression), you will ignore and completely miss what is, the beauty of the present
moment. Depression and anxiety cannot exist in the NOW. The secret to getting ahead is to focus all of
your energy (attention) not on fighting the old, but on creating something new, and that can only
happen in the NOW.

Nasal Breathing
“The fix is easy: breathe less. But that’s harder than it sounds. We’ve become conditioned to breathe too
much, just as we’ve been conditioned to eat too much. With some effort and training, however,
breathing less can become an unconscious habit.” — James Nestor

DESCRIPTION:
Understanding how to properly nasal breath for different situations is one of my all time favorite
overall life hacks. It’s one of the most important things you will ever learn. And it’s FREE!

Our bodies are designed to breathe nasally. When we breathe through the nose, we are filtering the
oxygen before it enters the lungs. We purify, heat, moisten, and pressurize the air we breathe through
our nose. This increases the amount of oxygen we absorb, as well as our levels of nitric oxide, which
improves circulation.

Mouth breathing on the other hand comes with unwanted side effects such as bad breath, tooth decay,
snoring, poor sleep and looking like an imbecile. It reduces the absorption of oxygen leading to a
downward spiral affecting sleep, stamina, and energy levels. It also leads to poor posture from the
tongue placement in the lower jaw, causing head-forward position as well as the inhalation of a larger
than needed volume of dry, unfiltered air.

Sun Exposure
“The sun, the bright sun, that brings back, not light alone, but new life, and hope, and freshness to man”

DESCRIPTION:
Captains make sure the sun rises in the morning to mark a new day of adventure. The sun is the celestial
power which gives life to everything on earth. Humans have always naturally been drawn to the sun, and
have attributed health and healing properties to its rays for millennia.

Sunlight allows our bodies to make vitamin D. Particularly, the UVB rays in sunlight that kickstart
vitamin D synthesis. UVA rays increase nitric oxide which increases vascularity, lowers blood pressure,
and improves heart health. Sunscreen and wearing too much clothing blocks this. Because of its integral
role in health, low levels of vitamin D have been associated with a majority of health issues, including
depression, osteoporosis, cancer, low testosterone, diabetes, cardiac disease, stroke, and more. Low nitric
oxide contributes to erectile dysfunction, low energy, Alzheimers, and more.

Our bodies work on 24-hour circadian rhythms, which affect our sleep-wake cycle and other functions,
including hormone regulation and appetite. By watching the sun rise in the morning, your body shuts off
melatonin production (the sleep-inducing hormone) to wake you up and resets it for 14-16 hours later
when it’s time to sleep, unless you continue exposing yourself to blue light from your
phone/computer/TV/house lights etc.

Sunlight also raises serotonin and dopamine which makes us feel confident, energized, and focused during
the day. Our bodies thrive when they are well nourished with sunlight.

DESCRIPTION:
Captains appreciate and connect with Mother Nature through grounding. AKA walking outside
barefoot and making contact with the Earth, ideally near natural bodies of water.

In today’s busy world, forming a true connection with the Earth can seem difficult. We live in big cities,
most jobs are indoors, and many social activities are confined to a screen. We are constantly taking on
harmful electromagnetic fields (EMFs) from the electronic devices in our surroundings that cause
oxidative stress and inflammation; frequencies that conflict with our natural resonance.

Our bodies are electric and designed to function in almost constant contact with the Earth's electric
signal, not all these non-native electromagnetig fields.

The frequency of Mother Earth (438 Hz) is incredibly healing. Connecting with the Earth literally

DESCRIPTION:
Modern life hasn’t just disconnected us from Earth, it’s also disconnected us from each other. Since
the dawn of time, humans have gathered together as a tribe. We evolved being surrounded by a group who:
supported each other through tough times, offered protection, supported each other's growth, and
collaborated to form a self-sustainable community. Today, a lot of men feel lost, stuck, out of place
and with fake “friends,” or settling for mediocre relationships.

Over the past few years, more people suffer from a disease called loneliness. This raises your risk of early
death, increases inflammation, damages your heart, and increases your risk for depression. From an
evolutionary perspective, this all makes sense. To feel alone meant you’d been abandoned by your tribe.
Humans don’t survive long on their own, and your subconscious mind treats these feelings like a death
sentence.

One of the greatest regrets of people on their deathbed is that they hadn’t cultivated deeper, more
meaningful relationships with their friends and family. Having a community is one of the strongest
shared traits of the “Blue Zones” people. The Blue Zones are 5 regions where people tend to live
disproportionately longer and happier lives than the rest of us.

DESCRIPTION:
Words are magic. Really. Abracadabra is translated from ancient Aramaic to: “with my words, I create.”
The definition of a spell is “a word or combination of words of great influence.” So when you talk, you
are quite literally casting spells. It’s up to you, based on the type of language you use, whether you’re
creating good magic or dark magic.

Words have tremendous power. Their meaning crystallizes perceptions that shape our beliefs, drive our
behavior, and ultimately, create our world. Their power arises from our emotional responses when we
read, speak, or hear them. The cool thing is, we get to choose our response.

If we stay conscious of the words we speak and the thoughts we think, we can control the emotions we
feel. Once we control our thoughts & emotions, we can make deliberate choices that alter our
perceptions of life and create the realities we desire.

Words are tools that we can use to uplift our personal energy and improve our lives. Just spend a few
minutes with a chronic complainer who uses all sorts of negative victim mentality language, and you’ll
feel your energy being sucked from your soul. Words have great power, so choose them (and your crew)
wisely!

Captains don't use negative language that makes them a victim to the stories they tell to themselves.
Captains take ownership in everything that happens to them. They take responsibility and don't let
outer circumstances dictate their life.

Delegation is the act of asking for help and actually allowing others to help (not micromanaging or
thinking you’re always right).

Delegating work gives you more time to focus on high-impact tasks, it also helps prevent burnout and
overwhelm. It isn’t your job to do all of the work. Instead, as the Captain of your ship
(business/family/life), you’re responsible for smooth sailing, that can only happen when the Captain
focuses on his unique skill set and doesn’t get caught up in busy work.

Eat Real Food

DESCRIPTION:
Real food either grew from the ground, was alive, or was made from a living creature. Focus on high
quality proteins and fats (grass fed beef, pasture raised eggs, sustainably caught seafood). Minimize
processed sugar and seek out good fat sources like grass fed butter or ghee, coconut oil, avocado, and
raw dairy. Incorporate organ meats (the most nutrient dense part of the animal) into your diet.

The basics of a healthy diet come down to cutting out highly processed foods and minimizing gluten,
added sugar, bad oils, and artificial ingredients (sweeteners/colors etc.). Cutting out vegetable oils is
one of the most powerful dietary changes you can make.

When it comes to a healthy diet, it's more about what you don't eat, than any fancy superfoods and
supplements you add. No overhyped superfood or supplement can heal you, as long as you still feed
yourself processed poison.
