Introduction

User manual 1
Welcome!
This manual contains important instructions regarding the
safety of your Exxite XXS bike. Read it carefully before you
start riding and follow the setup procedures to ensure a
correct operation of your bike.

For your own safety and so that you always enjoy your bike,
we recommend that you read the entire manual carefully. If
after reading this guide you have any further questions visit
our website https://www.rayvoltbike.com/support/ or send
your questions to the support team at:
[email protected].

When carrying out the work described in this manual, always

keep in mind that the instructions and indications only refer
to this eXXite bicycle and cannot be applied to other models.
Due to the large number of versions, it is possible that the
works described are not complete or not exactly the same. If
this is your case, please contact support.

Bear in mind that the indications and advice given may be

insufficient due to the lack of manual skill of the person
doing the work or lack of the necessary tools. This manual
will not provide you with the knowledge of a bicycle
mechanic or electrician. For this reason, this manual refers to
the bicycle you have just purchased and the usual
components, and includes the most important indications
and warnings. It focuses exclusively on the bicycle you have
just purchased and the most important indications and

User manual 2
warnings and cannot teach you how to ride a bicycle or
teach you the rules of the road.

When cycling, always keep in mind that it is a potentially

dangerous activity and the rider should always maintain
control over it.

Never use the bicycle if you are under the influence of

medicines, drugs, alcohol or if you are tired.

Always drive in a way that doesn't endanger your own life or

that of others and respect nature when driving through
forests and meadows. Find out about the regulations in force
for riding on public roads in the country where you will use
your bicycle. Always drive carefully and respect other road
users.

User manual 3
Before each use
To improve the experience of your ride, it is essential to
review the care of your bicycle and have it in the best
conditions. Ride your bike only if it has passed all these tests
perfectly.

● Maximum total weight. The recommended total

weight for XXS should not exceed 120 kg (driver and
luggage included).
● Check the condition of the tires. Check that these
aren't in bad condition, scratched or worn and that
they have enough pressure. Higher pressure
provides better ride stability and increases puncture
safety. The minimum and maximum pressure values
(bar/psi) are indicated on the sidewalls of the tires.
● With the bike completely stopped, pull firmly on the
brake levers. Check that a pressure point is
generated and that the levers don't reach the
handlebar.
● In the case of using your bicycle on public roads or at
night, you must inspect the lighting system. Check
that the lights are correctly connected and that they
turn on.
● Check the condition of the bearings and threaded
connections. Bounce your bike close to the ground
and try to identify the source of any noise.
● Verify that the wheels are still positioned correctly
and that the tires remain centered on the frame and
fork.

User manual 4
● Make sure the chain is greased on chainrings and
sprockets.
● Check the position of the saddle.
● Finally give a general review of your Bike to confirm
that everything is correct.
● Some time after being used it is advisable to carry
out a general inspection and adjust the tension of
parts such as spokes and screws.

User manual 5
Cleaning and care
Dirt, impurities, sand and many other factors can damage
the condition of your bike, so taking good care of it will help
to maximize its life. Therefore, it is essential to properly clean
all components and protect them against corrosion.

XXS is an electric bike, so it is better to avoid contact with

water. Water conducts electricity and in the event of any
type of leak it can cause a short circuit, damaging part or the
entire system, so if you want to wash your bicycle it is
advisable to do it carefully and watch out for contact with
water. XXS is protected, but it is recommended to wash them
with non-conductive distilled water or to insulate electrical
components.

The so-called quick cleaning has serious drawbacks: the high

pressure water jet can pass through the seals and penetrate
the bearings. Water tends to dilute the lubricant, increasing
friction and corrosion. More suitable and highly
recommended is to wash the bike with a hose or bucket of
water and a large sponge or brush. Hand washing allows you
to detect paint deterioration, worn parts or other defects in
time, improving the care of your bike.

Once the bike is washed, wait for it to dry and, in order to

protect the paint, metal surfaces, spokes, hubs, etc., apply a
layer of hard wax, never on the brake discs, and polish the

User manual 6
waxed surfaces with a soft cloth so that they shine and don't
make direct contact with water.
Finally, check the condition of the chain, in the case of
having too much friction it should be greased.

User manual 7
Storage
You will not always be riding your XXS, so it is necessary to
know how to store it in order to keep it in the best condition.
If your bicycle receives regular care, a short-term stop doesn't
require any special preventive measures, except for anti-theft
protection.

It is recommended to store your bike in a dry and well

ventilated area. Remove the saddle and allow any moisture it
may contain to dry.

Clean your bicycle as described in the "Cleaning and care"

section.

Charge the battery before storage and every 2 months

minimum.

Finally, it is recommended to regularly check the pressure of

the wheels, hang them or hang the entire bicycle. The tubes
lose air when they aren't used for a long time, so if your
bicycle is supported on flat tires it can end up damaging its
structure.

User manual 8
Serial number

Maintenance

User manual 22
Braking system
The brake system allows the rider to control the bike speed
and in case of emergency they must be able to stop the bike
as soon as possible. That’s why inspecting and having them
in good conditions is critical.

The left lever activates the front brake and the right lever the
rear brake. Both levers stop the motor and charge the
battery if the RBS is activated.

Exxite bikes use disc brakes in order to improve the braking

performance. The brake pads should last around 750 km.
However, this distance will vary depending on the driving
style, the usage of the brake, the type of road…
The brake pads should be revised once a month in order to
avoid riding without them and having braking problems.

Change brake pads

In order to change the brake pads follow the next
instructions:

1. Remove the wheel.

2. Remove the pads using pliers. Take care of not losing
the metallic support.
3. Using an ear cane (or similar) clean the pistons of the
caliper. You can add some oil, but clean the excess
before installing the new pads.
4. Place the new pads and put the fastener to avoid the
pads from moving. Do not apply too much force
when tightening it.

User manual 23
5. Place the wheel again. Using an allen key adjust the
caliper.
6. If it is not well adjusted, brake and tighten the screws
at the same time.

User manual 31
06. Electric
components

User manual 32
Component
description
In this section are described the electrical components of
the XXS. It is important to know the parts of the bike in order
to use them properly and know how to solve issues.

Motor
The motor is located on the rear wheel. It is connected to the
controller using a wire on the right side of the bike. It is a
250W - 35 Nm motor, so it is perfect for city driving with
some minor hills.

Battery
The battery is used to feed all the electric systems. In the XXS,
the battery is also the seatpost. It has a rated voltage of 36V.
There are three types of batteries with different capacities.

- 8 Ah - 290 Wh (40km)
- 10,5 Ah - 380Wh (60km)
- 14 Ah - 500 Wh (100km)

The range will vary depending on the driving style, the use of
the regenerative braking system, speed, level of assist,
carried weight…

User manual 33
Controller
The controller receives the information from bike sensors
and sends the signal to the components to behave as
desired. It is the “brain” of the system and has the firmware
necessary to ride the bike.

MicroEIVA
MicroEIVA is the display of the bike and it is located on the
handlebar. It is used to turn on and off the bike, so without
this display the bike won’t work. From the MicroEIVA it can
be adjusted the PAS level, some bike parameters, turn on the
lights and turn on the lights. You can find more information
on the MicroEIVA manual.

PAS
The Pedal assist sensor (PAS) measures the cadence of the
pedaling and sends this information to the controller. The
more cadence, the faster the motor will turn.

There are five levels of pedal assist that can be controlled

from the microEIVA display. Levels 1-3 increase speed and
power of the motor. Levels 4 and 5 increase only the power,
being the fifth level the faster and more powerful of all.

Furthemore, using the EIVA 2.0 app, the sensitivity of the

sensor can be adjusted. A higher value will result in a higher
sensitivity, so you’ll need to pedal less to engage the motor.

User manual 34
Brake sensor
There are two brake sensors located on each brake lever on
the handlebar. They detect when the brake lever is activated
and send a signal to the controller to stop the motor and to
activate the RBS.

Lights
XXS lights are integrated on the bike. They are activated from
the microEIVA and they are fed with 6V directly from the
controller.

Throttle (optional)
The throttle is an accessory used to ride the bike without
pedaling. Its parameters can be adjusted from the EIVA 2.0
app.

Troubleshooting

User manual 38
Troubleshooting
Exxite bikes are quality tested and use high-technology.
However, electronic devices tend to break after a while using
them, so here is an explanation of how to identify the
problem and solve it.

Scenario 1
MicroEIVA doesn’t turn on
First of all check that all wires are connected, specially the
battery connector and the microEIVA plug. Then, charge the
battery fully, until the charger turns green.

Scenario 2
No pedal assistance
First, check that the microEIVA is on. Increase the PAS level
pushing the PLUS button. If it is not solved, follow next
instructions (if after doing one step it is solved, it is not
needed to continue with the troubleshooting):

1. Open EIVA 2.0 and connect with the bike.

2. If there is an error on the main screen, click on it and
follow the instructions on the app.
3. Go to Settings→Advanced settings
4. Check that the PAS is activated. If not, activate it and
save.
5. Check that Pedal assist power is more than 100W
and PAS maximum speed is not 0.

User manual 39
6. Go to Settings→Reset parameters and select XXS.
Apply and wait until it finishes. Keep the phone and
the bike on and close to each other while the process
is done.

Scenario 3
Noise on the rear wheel
First, it is needed to identify if it is an electric noise or a
mechanical noise. To do that, turn off the bike and ride it, if
the noise is still there, it is a mechanic noise. Otherwise, it will
be an electrical noise.

Mechanical noise:

Check that there is nothing touching the wheel while

turning (wires, stones, mudguard, rear rack…). If there is
nothing touching the wheel, the spokes tension needs to be
adjusted. It is a procedure that needs to be done periodically,
since the torque of the motor makes the spokes get loose. To
do that, a spoke wrench is needed. Begin your corrections at
the valve hole to give yourself a reference point, then, give
each spoke ¼ turn. Check if the noise is still there. If it is not
solved, repeat the process.

In the case the noise hasn’t disappeared, adjust the brake

calipers. To do that, first loose the screws on the rear part of
the caliper.

Then, press the brake lever (right) and tighten the screws
while pressing the lever. If you have used your bike a lot, the
brake pads may need to be changed.

User manual 40
Electrical noise:

First of all, check that the wiring system is in a good

condition, there are no broken wires and the wires are not
tense. If all is good, connect your bike with EIVA 2.0 and
check whether there is an error on the main screen. If there
is an error, click on it and a pop-up will show the error
description. Follow the instructions on the EIVA 2.0 error
description to solve it. Otherwise, if there is not an error do a
reset parameters.

If it doesn’t work, disconnect the rear wire (the wire that

connects with the motor) and check that all pins are in a
good condition. Reconnect it and make sure it makes full
contact.

Scenario 4
Reduction of range
Battery range depends on many factors, so it is needed to
check everything before considering a faulty battery. These
factors are:

- Used power: as much power is required to the

motor, you’ll be able to travel less distance with the
bike. Adjust the desired power on advanced settings
of EIVA 2.0.
- Battery size: using a battery with bigger capacity
will allow you to ride further.
- PAS level: increasing the PAS level will require more
motor usage, thus a reduction of range.

User manual 41
- Battery age: batteries lose capacity with time.
Exxite’s batteries ensure 70% of the capacity after 2
years or 1000 charge cycles.
- Throttle usage: riding using a lot of throttle instead
of pedaling reduces the range, since all the
movement is generated by the motor,
- Road conditions: riding on hills, slopes, on soft
surfaces or with strong headwind reduces range.
- Wheel low pressure: increasing friction with ground
due to low pressure will reduce the range.
- Low temperature: low temperatures reduce battery
capacity.
- Not enough charging time: charge the battery until
the charger led turns green.
- Long storage: storing the battery for a long time
reduces the battery capacity. To avoid this issue,
charge it frequently at a warm temperature (around
15º C).

Scenario 5
Battery doesn’t charge
If your battery is not charging it may mean the charger is not
working well, so try to use another one to charge it (check
the voltage). If it works, check the fuse on the first charger,
and if it is broken replace it.

User manual 42
Scenario 6
Bike doesn’t connect with
bluetooth
If your bike turns on but it is not connecting with bluetooth,
