venting system and the sealing plug are fitted correctly.

2.5.3 Check colour indicator of battery A

WARNING
Danger of explosion when checking and charging battery or
when using it for jump starting.
– Do not test or charge batteries whose “ALI (Acid Level In‐
dicator)” is colourless/light yellow. Do not slave/jump start
the vehicle.

Note
The colour indicator shows the electrolyte level in the battery.
Note
Since the colour indicator is only located in one battery cell, the
indicator also only applies to this battery cell. An exact determi‐
nation of the battery condition is only possible through a battery
test ⇒ b2.5.4 attery A with battery tester”, page 12 .

– Before the visual inspection, tap the “ALI (Acid Level Indica‐
tor” lightly and carefully using the handle of a screwdriver.
The air bubbles, which can influence the display, will dissi‐
pate when doing this. The colour display of the “ALI (Acid
Level Indicator)” will now be more accurate.
– “ALI (Acid Level Indicator)” visual inspection
• Do not use flashlights.
• Look at the electrolyte level indicator vertically from above.
Three different colour displays are possible:
• Black = electrolyte level is OK.
