PRESENTED BY: KAYLA R. FULLEROS

The Bangladesh flag is
composed of a dark green
area with a balanced red
disc in the centre. The

natural beauty of the land.
The disc represents the sun
rising over the country,
and the red colour denotes
the blood of Bangladeshis

BANGLADESH MAP

in the south lays the Bay of
Bengal. West Bengal borders on
the west and in the east lies the

MUSLIM IS THE
MAJOR RELIGION
IN BANGLADESH
Bangladesh is one of the largest
Muslim countries in the world. About
80 percent of Bangladeshis are
Muslims. Most Bangladeshi Muslims
are Sunnis, but there is a small Shia
community. Hinduism constitutes
about 12 percent of the population.
Languages of Bangladesh.
Bengali (Bangla), the national
language of Bangladesh,
belongs to the Indo-Aryan
group of languages and is
related to Sanskrit. Like Pali,
however, and various other
forms of Prakrit in ancient
India, Bengali originated
beyond the influence of the
Brahman society of the Aryans.
Bangladeshi politics are conducted within the
context of a multi-party system and a parliamentary
representative democratic republic, in which the
Prime Minister of Bangladesh serves as the head of
state. The government is in charge of exercising
executive power. Both the parliament and the
government have the authority to enact laws. In my
opinion, the system of government in Bangladesh
has its strengths and weaknesses. One of the
strengths is that it provides for a democratic
process through free and fair elections, which allows
citizens to participate in choosing their leaders.
Another strength is that it provides for a separation
of powers between the executive, legislative, and
judicial branches, which helps to prevent abuse of
power by any one branch
CULTURAL PRACTICES AND FEATIVAL

Bangladesh is a predominantly Muslim country, and Islam's adherents in Bangladesh celebrate

the joyous festival of the two Eids, Eid-ul-Fitr, and Eid-ul-Azha, the month of Ramadan, Shab-e-
Qadr, Shab-e-Barat etc. Hindus in Bangladesh celebrate Durga Puja, Kali Puja and Janmastami.
UNIQUE FOOD
It is characterised by use of meat and dairy
ingredients such as lamb, mutton, beef and yoghurt
together with mild spices. Its dishes include kebab;
stuffed breads; kacchi biriyani; roast lamb, duck, and
chicken; patisapta; Kashmiri tea and korma are still
served at special occasions like Eid and at weddings.
Dietary pattern. Cereals, largely rice, are the main
food in Bangladesh. Nearly two-thirds of the daily
diet consists of rice, some vegetables, a little amount
of pulses and small quantities of fish if and when
available. Milk, milk products and meat are
consumed only occasionally and in very small
amounts.
