O Level-Syllabus-Update

The Cambridge O Level Computer Science syllabus has been updated for examinations in 2023-2025. The updates include minor changes to some learning outcomes and assessment questions. Learning outcome 1.3.2 was updated to require calculations use 1024 instead of 1000. Minor clarifications were made to other learning outcomes and procedures/functions are now clarified to be defined at the start of code. Typographical errors were also corrected in sample exam questions. Exam takers are advised to review the full updated syllabus and specimen papers.

Syllabus update: Cambridge O Level Computer Science (2210) for

examination in 2023, 2024 and 2025

We have updated this syllabus. The latest syllabus is version 2, published July 2023.

What has changed? Detail

Changes to syllabus • Learning outcome 1.3.2 on page 11 has been updated. Calculations must
content use the measurement of 1024 and not 1000
• A minor change has been made to learning outcome 2.1.1.b on page 12
for clarity
• The abbreviation of the fetch-decode-execute (FDE) cycle has been
added to learning outcome 3.1.2.b on page 14
• Learning outcome 7.5.b on page 24 has been updated to include the
purpose of each verification check
• The Procedures and functions section on page 44 has been updated to
clarify that procedures and functions are defined at the start of the code

Changes to assessment • There has been a minor typographical change to the wording within the
(including changes to question paper and mark scheme for Specimen set A, Paper 2,
specimen papers) question12(b)
• There has been a minor typographical change to the wording within the
mark scheme for Specimen set A, Paper 2, Question 13 and there has
been an update of the terms 1D and 2D to one-dimensional (1D) and two-
dimensional (2D) in the question paper.

We have updated the syllabus and specimen materials for this syllabus.
