“WOULD PREFER” não pode ser usado com um verbo terminando em ING:
They would prefer to have coffee now.
I’d prefer to talk to him later.
** Note que o verbo deve ser usado no infinitivo!
WOULD PREFER = WOULD RATHER
▪ Embora o sentido seja coincidente, a forma é diferente:
I’d prefer coffee this morning.
I’d prefer to drive rather than go by bus.
I’d rather have a cup of coffee now.
I’d rather go now. It’s getting late.
WOULD RATHER
“Would rather” só pode ser usado antes de um verbo:
They would rather have coffee than tea.
I’d rather not talk to him now.
**Note que o verbo que segue “would rather” deve estar na “base form” (infinitivo
sem ‘to’).

We often use contractions with “would prefer” and “would rather.”
Pronouns can be contracted with WOULD to make the following:
