name for the line XY.
b) Points P and Q lie on the circle. Write down the mathema cal name for the line
PQ.
c) The area of the circle is 43.5 cm2. Calculate the radius of the circle.
d) The diameter of a different circle is 6.4 cm. Calculate the circumference of this
circle. Give your answer in millimetres.
2. The wheel of a car has an outer radius of 25 cm. Calculate:
a) how far the car has travelled a er one complete turn of the wheel
b) how many mes the wheel turns for a journey of 1 km.
3. The diagram shows the net of a cuboid.
a) Find the volume of the cuboid.
b) Show that the total surface area of the cuboid is 148 cm2.
c) Calculate the total length of the edges of the cuboid.
4. Two cylinders have the same surface area. The shorter of the two has a radius of 3 cm
and a height of 2 cm, and the taller cylinder has a radius of 1 cm. Calculate:
a) the surface area of one of the cylinders in terms of π,
b) the height of the taller cylinder.

i) angle BDA
ii) angle BCD
iii) angle ABD.
b) In the diagram, triangle ADX is similar to triangle BCX. BC = 4.5 cm, AD = 9 cm and
CX = 3.3 cm. Work out XD.
7.
a) Simplify.
b) Write as a single frac on in its simplest form.
8. The diagram shows a solid cone and a solid hemisphere. The cone has radius 2.4 cm and
slant height 6.3 cm. The hemisphere has radius R cm. The total surface area of the cone
is equal to the total surface area of the hemisphere. Calculate the value of R.
[The curved surface area, A, of a cone with radius r and slant height l is A=πrl.]
[The curved surface area, A, of a sphere with radius r is A=πr2 .]
