How to Create a Warehouse Receiving Custom Role

This custom role will only allow users to perform receipts. The user will not be
allowed to perform other receiving functions such as receipt corrections, returns,
inspections, and matching. The user will only be allowed to access task
“Receive Shipment Lines”.

Login as Security Administrator and navigate to Oracle Security Console by

navigating to Tools -> Security Console. This will open the Roles page in the
Security Console.

Step 1: Enter Basic Information including Role Name, Role Code, Role
Category, and Role Description.

Start by clicking the “Create Role” button.

The example below depicts the custom role “Receiving Only Job Role”.

Step 2: Add Function Security Policies

Add the for following three Privilege Names to Job Role “Receiving Only Job
Role”.

1. Monitor Inventory Management Work Area – This privilege provides

access to the main Inventory Management landing page
2. Monitor Receiving Receipt Work Area – This privilege provides access to
the “Receipts” work area.
3. Receive Receiving Shipment Line – This privilege provides access to the
“Receive Expected Shipments” page.
Step 3: Create Data Security Policies

Create data security policy for your role. The data security policy is based on
the inventory organization which will allow you to perform receipts for a given
organization.
Provide a Policy Name such as “RECEIVING_ONLY_POLICY”.

Select “Inventory Organization” for required field Database Resource.

The required field “Data Set” supports three values including:

• Select by key
• Select by instance set
• All values

In this example, Data Set is set to “Select by key” since access will only be
provided to Inventory Organization 207 – M1 – Seattle Manufacturing.

If access is required to all Inventory Organizations, you can select Data Set “All
values”.

Select value ‘Manage Receiving Transaction’ for the field “Actions”

Lastly, optionally provide a Policy Description.

Step 4: Assign Job Role to User.

Add the selected user or users to the job role that will be performing the
receiving task for the inventory organization.

Step 5: Summary
On the Summary step click the “Save and Close” button to save the newly
created job role.
Step 6: Validate your changes.

Login as your user to validate changes. You should only see a single entry
‘Receipts’ under Warehouse Operations.

When you log in, click the Inventory Management icon. You will see the
Receiving related infolets. You will also be in the context of Inventory
Organization “M1” which was selected when defining the data security policy.
You will only have one value “Receipts” in the Show Tasks choice list.

Additionally, you will only see a single task ‘Receive Expected Shipments’.

This is how the ‘Receipts’ work area looks with full access.
