Organic farming was actually initiated as an answer to the environmental sufferings caused by the use of chemical pesticides and synthetic fertilisers. Eat Clean and Green , Eat Organic . Don't panic it’s Organic . * Growing green fields and a green environment . 4A Think green - think sustainable agriculture CHARACTERISTICS OB Environment-friendly way of farming. Protect water, air, and soil from chemical pollution. Maintain ecological balance. Use natural ways to increase agricultural production. Best opportunity for farmers to become self-sufficient. Minimum investment is required. Maximum use of local material. ADVANTAGES OF ORGANIC FARMING >Environment-friendly. >Promotes sustainable development. >Healthy and tasty food. >Inexpensive process. >It uses organic inputs. >Generates income. >Generates income through exports. >Source of employment. DISADVANTAGES OF USING CHEMICAL FERTILIZERS They get washed away by water easily and cause pollution. They harm the microbes present in soil. They reduce soil fertility. They are expensive. They provide only short term benefits. They change the nature of soil, making it either too acidic or too alkaline. The most commonly used fertilizers in India are urea, Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP), and Muriate of Potash (MoP). Farmers prefer to use an excessive amount of urea as non-urea varieties such as MoP, DAP, and complex are relatively expensive. IMPACTS OF USING PESTICIDES AND INSECTICIDES IN FARMIN Itis commonly used to eliminate or control a variety of agricultural pests that can damage crops and livestock and reduce farm productivity. The most commonly applied pesticides are insecticides to kill insects, herbicides to kill weeds, rodenticides to kill rodents, and fungicides to control fungi, mould, and mildew. High levels of pesticide exposure can lead to acute poisoning, resulting in symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, dizziness, headaches, respiratory distress, and even seizures or loss of consciousness. Ammonium nitrate, ammonium phosphate, ammonium sulfate, copper salts, lime, pesticides, potassium chloride. Chemical or synthetic lawn and garden fertilizers tend to be water soluble and concentrated ORGANICALLY GROWN CROPS Fi MINIMUM YIELD HIGH NUTRIENTS HEALTHY CAN BE STORED FOR LONG PERIOD. CHEMICALIZED CROPS HIGH YIELD MORE ATTRACTIVE CAN'T STORE FOR LONG PERIOD LACK OF NUTRIENTS. CONCLUSION \ mM 4 Organic farming offers numerous benefits, including environmental sustainability, improved soil health, biodiversity preservation, and reduced exposure to harmful chemicals, Its holistic approach promotes long-term agricultural resilience while safeguarding human health and promoting animal welfare. Embracing organic farming practices represents a crucial step towards creating a more sustainable and resilient food system for present and future generations. CA. By :- GROUP NO -16
