The purpose of the study is to identify the various coping strategies
utilized by the Accountancy, Business, and Management students and help other
students who are in difficult to budget their allowance.
Review of Related Literature
Foreign Studies
Widener (2017) College students are often seen irresponsible and
impulsive, which has contributed to the perception that they are poor managers
of money. The researcher conducted a literature review to gain better
understanding of how college students manage their finances. Students
frequently face financial hardships due to inadequate income, low finances,
knowledge impulsive spending habits, and substantial debts. Financial decision
made by students today can have negative impacts on their health, graduation
success, career opportunities, and retirement planning. Understanding these
relationships is the key to better preparing the next generation for financial
success.

Saumaya (2020) Students Budgeting primarily refers to management of
financial expenses within their assigned budget. Several factors make the
behavior of the students dynamic and different from each other. These factors
can be technical as well as psychological and controllable. There is a vast
different in spending behavior of students, the more knowledge students have
about their financial responsibility and status, the less likely they are to be in
debt
Dwiastanti (2015) Having a good financial literacy is necessary for
every individual to manage his/her finances to achieve their main needs and
prosperity. Have a good level financial literacy that provide their parents or their
own self need to have a smart financial behavior to make the skill and confidence
in using knowledge to be able to identify financial matters.

choice in adolescence. The program was randomly assigned among high school
students and intertemporal choices were measured using an incentive
experiment. These findings suggest that the affect of such education programs is

Tunnaco (2020) Most of the students receive their allowance in a daily
basis. The allowances are used for their everyday consumptions and to be used
for daily needs in school. The students appear to have a peaceful thoughts of
their financial lifestyles due to meeting financial duties with much less level of
debts. For the remaining money they can buy something for their love ones and
save money for future use. The budgeting techniques that the students use is a
proportional type of budgeting as they allocated their allowances based on
percentage.

requirements for a particular subject. Allowance of the students may determine
their interest on studies. It is interesting to know if students have enough
allowance.
Contante (2019) The academic performance of the students is very
important to both teachers and students as this affect the effectiveness of the
teaching-learning process. However, effective allowance budgeting falls outsides
the corner of the normal teaching-learning process and is deemed significant for
the students because this will benefits them not only for sustaining their every
needs in school but also help them be more prepared in the proper handling of
finances.

the submission of their project and for doing their different performance task in
eacg subjects. When it comes to the school projects, students daily allowance
and even their socioeconomic status is involved. Daily allowance is the amount
of money that a student is entitled to on a daily basis. Shows that students who
have daily allowance in school has the advantage to have high grades or has the
advantage to excel in class.

a very effective way. Budgeting allowances is one of the problems of the most
students some tend to manage their allowances and some do not. The essence

budgeting strategies in their daily financial management.

now acknowledge globally as an important element for economic and financial
stability and development. Proper financial management leads to improved
available resources and reduce financial problem during education. Financial

motivation and confidence to apply such knowledge and understanding in order
to make effective decision regarding the range of financial context and also
improve the financial wellbeing of.

Objectives of the study
This study aims to determine the experience of the Accountancy,
Business and Management students on the coping strategies. Especially the
following are addressed:
1. To determine challenges and problems encountered by Accountancy,
Business and Management students in handling their daily allowance.
2. To identify the coping strategies of Accountancy, Business, and
Management students in addressing the challenges and problems
encountered.
3. To draw significant implication on the basis of research finding.
Significance of the study
This research will benefits the Parents, Teachers, and Students of
Accountancy, Business, and Management of Don Pablo Lorenzo Memorial High
School Stand-Alone Senior High School.
Students
The result of the study can help the students of Accountancy, Business,
and Management to be prepared on how would they deal their problem in
handling their daily allowance and how can they improve their coping strategies.

The result of the study is for the parents to be aware on bow important
their moral support and financial support to their children. This study can help
also the parents to understand the struggles their children encountered.
Teachers
The result of the study can help and guide their students in overcoming
challenges from managing their daily allowance.
Scope and Delimitation
This study will focuses on the coping strategies of Daily Allowances of
Grade 11 Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) students. Study will
be conducted at Don Pablo Lorenzo Memorial High School Stand-Alone Senior
High School. It will be delimited to Ten Grade 11 Students. The participants will
be coded as Participant A, Participant B, Participant C, Participant D, Participant
E, Participant F, Participant G, Participant H, Participant I, Participant J.
Respectively for the school year 2022-2023. Gathering of the data will be done
through an interview using the guide questions approved by the research
teacher. Furthermore, this study is premise to the problems and challenges faced
by the Grade 11 Accountancy, Business, and Management students in their daily
Allowances.

METHODOLOGY

Participants of the study
The participants in this study will be the Senior High School students of
Don Pablo Lorenzo Memorial High School Stand-Alone Senior High School. Ten
Grade 11 students of Accountancy, Business, and Management who are officially
enrolled this school year 2022-2023.
Method of Data Collection
For gathering data of course first, They are going to ask permission to the
participants which is 11 Accountancy, Business, and Management (ABM) student
of Don Pablo Lorenzo Memorial High School Stand-Alone Senior High if they
willing to interview about in how they handling their Daily allowance and coping
strategies. Then, the researcher ask permission to the principle if the approved to
conduct data to the participant. After they approved the researcher will conduct a
data by face to face interview. The researcher will ask a questions to the
participant about their opinion about daily allowance and coping strategies on
how they spend it to. After the interview the researcher wholeheartedly respect to
the participant and give them privacy. This are the possible question for the
participants: Do you have regular allowance, is it enough to sustain your daily
expenses in school? What do you usually do to spend less, in going school and
going back home? What challenges have you encountered in handling your daily
allowance? What did you do to address the challenges encountered? What do
you do to avoid unnecessary spending?

Data Gathering Procedure
The permission to conduct the study primarily inform the principle that the
researcher is going to conduct a study. Afterwards, a letter of consent will be
provided to seek the Accountancy, Business, and Management student of Don
Pablo Lorenzo Memorial High School Stand-Alone Senior High School, who
experienced problem in handling their daily allowance, that be personally
conducted through an interview to the participants in their most vacant time. After
it is done, the collection of data from the interview will be analyzed for the
presentation.
Just about other Phenomenology research, the researchers enunciated
questions that the participants, an open ended interview is designed around the
primarily research question use, secondary follow us question will use to
question and to make information about the participants attitude, opinion and
also their experiences regarding to the problem they encountered in handling
their daily allowance and the coping strategies they used to overcome it.
Verification and Validity
This study will be conducted at Don Pablo Lorenzo Memorial High
School Stand-Alone Senior High School students that belong to the
Accountancy, Business, and Management Strand for those have low allowances.
All the interview will be Scheduled and Conducted for the safety and

convenience of the participants. The interview will be using smartphone voice
recorder, where it will recorder the conversation of the interviewer and responder
of the participants, in order to certify and validate the data. As soon as the
various interview will be conducted, analyzed and coded.
Ethical Consideration
The researcher’s will obtained an informed concept from the participants,
specifying their awareness to the purpose of the study, agreement to participate
at interview participants, agreement to record the interview proceedings.
Freedom to disclose not to disclose information, freedom to stop their
participation anytime if they feel uncomfortable, right to be inform of the results of
the research study, confidentiality of information will be observed and the
participants anonymity will be considered. After the data will be recorded, the
researcher’s will submit all of the gathered data to research adviser for proper
and secure safekeeping.

PARTICIPANTS AND THEIR STORIES
Ms. Ericka
Ms. Ericka is a 18 years old and a student of Don Pablo Lorenzo
Memorial High School Stand-Alone Senior High School taking up Accountancy,
Business, and Management (ABM) Strand according to her , she experience to
have and nothing to cause problematic and stress. she has a hard time
budgeting and managing her money since her parents only get give her twenty
pesos daily allowance and it's not enough to sustain her school expenses. The
coping strategies she do to fit in His daily allowance is that he no longer eats or
buys his recess for her to save money for fees.
Ms. Ali
Ms. Ali is a 17 year old study at Don Pablo Lorenzo Memorial High School
Stand-Alone Senior High School base on her story, she has fifty to seventy daily
allowance that her parents provide her and it is not enough for her school fees.
The thing she do to sustain her school expenses, she doesn't spend her daily
allowance to the things that are not necessary just to pay the expenses in school.
She experience to borrow money to her/his classmate for her to pay the school
expenses. Furthermore, if there no class she will keep her allowance for the next
day.

Mr. Patrick
Mr. Patrick is a 17 years old and a student of Don Pablo Lorenzo
Memorial High School Stand-Alone Senior High School. According to him, having
low allowance it is not enough to sustain the daily needs and expenses in school
"ahmm... unsa ba?, meron naman man akong regular na allowance na hindi
naman malaki ang binibigay ng parents ko ahmm poreso dili sya kasya sa akong
mga school expenses na kailangan bayaran sa school" the action he do to
spend less he doesn't commute going back home to be able to save money for
fees and expenses in school. The strategies he do is to endure and diligence and
his being practical for his needs than to his wants by that he can save money for
his daily expenses in school.
Ms. Mochi
Ms. Mochi is a 17 years old and a student of Don Pablo Lorenzo Memorial
High School Stand-Alone Senior High School taking up Accountancy, Business,
and Management. base on her story, her daily allowances is not fit for expenses
in school and it is not enough to sustain her daily needs went it come to school
projects. she just walk going back home for her to save money and for her to pay
the fees in school "ahm so like!!.. ahmm i usually walk going back home to be
able to save money and going to school hinahatid lang ako ng papa ko" her
father pick up on her going to school to be able to thrifty the allowance that her
parents provide. One of her strategy she doesn't buy food for recess and that

money she can save it for expenses in school by doing this he can fix her
problem when it to expenses and financial problem.
Ms. Olivia
Ms. Olivia is a 18 years old and a students of Don Pablo Lorenzo
Memorial High School Stand-Alone Senior High School, pursue Accountancy,
Business, and Management (ABM) Strand. According to her, she has daily
allowances and it is not enough to sustain her daily need expenses in school.
The strategies she do is she doesn’t spend her money to the things that are not
important instead of her needs. “ahmmmm…. Yun na nga may binabayaran na
mga fees at minsan nakukulangan ako and minsan kung may yun classmate ko
is may sobra sila pera hinihiram ko muna sakanila tapos ibabayad ko
pagkabukas”. She sometimes borrow money from her classmates to sustain her
expenses. This one of her strategy to address those challenges that she
encountered.
Ms. Rose
Ms. Rose is a 18 years old from Don Pablo Lorenzo Memorial High
School Stand-Alone Senior High School taking up Accountancy, Business, and
Management. According to her she has a regular allowances for one week but
it's up to her how she handle the money for the daily expenses in school " Yes
ahhh… and enough naman siya sa akin dahil binigyan naman ako ng nanay ko

ng one week allowances at and tapos yun one week na allowance na yun is ako
na bahala kung paano ku istrategies yun pera na yun." it's up on her decision
how to handle the money and where to spend it. she encountered a hard time for
managing and budgeting the money when it comes to expenses in school for her
to be able to spend less she use recycle material for her projects in school.”para
saakin ano ohh example meron kami mga projects magrerecycle nalang kami
tulad ng newspaper, meron yun last naggawa kami ng project sa science tapos
need talaga namin ng nga recycled paper para maggawa ng planet sa science
namin so yun lang.” by that she can save the money for the school fees.
Mr. Denise
Mr. Denise is a 19 years old and a student of Don Pablo Lorenzo
Memorial High School Stand-Alone Senior High School. Base on his story, he
has a regular allowance that his parents provide for his daily allowance but it is
not enough for his expenses in school and difficult for him to budgeting his daily
allowance "Hindi sapat yun allowance na binibigay saakin ng parents ko, so yun
na nga mahirap din kasi paminsan may binabayaran tayo sa school”. He is
struggling to manage and budget his daily allowance because of the expenses in
school to be able to save money and budget he doesn't commute going back
home the remaining or extra money he save it for the next day and for his school
expenses.

Ms. Heart
Ms. Heart is a 18 years old and a student of Don Pablo Lorenzo Memorial
High School Stand-Alone Senior High School taking up Accountancy, Business,
and Management. Base on her response she have a regular daily allowance that
is intended for food. Her parents pick up on her going to school and going back
home since they have a service for her to be spend lees. She is struggling by
handling low allowances regardless to school expenses and the strategies she
do for her to be able to pay the fees in school "Tipid lang huwag bilhin yung hindi
mahalaga" thrifty is the way to be able to pay the fees in school and buy the
needs than the things are not important.
Ms. Kate
Ms. Kate is a 18 years old and a student of Don Pablo Lorenzo Memorial
High School Stand-Alone Senior High School taking up Accountancy, Business,
and Management. According to her story, she has regular daily allowances range
of fifty pesos "Yes po, everyday 50 pesos ang baon ko" and it is not enough to
sustain her daily expenses in school for her to be spend less she doesn't buy
food for recess and she doesn't commute going back home for her to save
money. She is being practical regardless to her allowance and avoiding
unnecessary spending by buying the needs than the wants.

Ms. Lisa is a 18 years old and a students of Don Pablo Lorenzo Memorial
High School Stand-Alone Senior High School taking up Accountancy, Business,
and Management. Base on her response, she has daily allowance and its not
enough for her to sustain her daily expenses in school for her to be able to save
more money, she doesn’t buy something to eat. Back and fort transportation, her
parents pick up on her going to school and going back home to spend less “Hindi
ako naga recess at yung sa pagpunta ko sa school pati pag uwi hinahatid lng ako
ng tatay ko”. She is struggling and problematic by handling her allowances
regardless to the expenses and fees in school and if there is something she
wants to buy she thinks the fees that need to pay in school expenses.

FINDINGS

Themes were identified by following the established protocols of
horizontalization, clustering and convergence. Horizontalization was
accomplished by identifying and highlighting insights about the learning
experiences of the Grade 11 Accountancy, Business, and Management students
in Daily Allowances. Similar comments and insights were clustered together for
further review. From a convergence of these cluster of meaning, the following
themes were emerged:
