INTRODUCTION
Background of the Study
Artificial Intelligence, often abbreviated as AI, is a fascinating field of study
that explores the creation and application of intelligent machines that can mimic
human behavior. It is a multidisciplinary field that combines aspects of computer
science, mathematics, cognitive psychology, and even philosophy.
AI research is primarily concerned with the development of algorithms and
methods for tasks such as problem-solving, learning, perception, language
understanding, and logical reasoning. It also delves into more complex areas like self-
correction and self-improvement. The ultimate goal of AI research is to create
machines that can perform tasks that would normally require human intelligence, such
as interpreting natural language, recognizing patterns, and making judgments.
In recent years, AI has made significant advancements and has been integrated
into various sectors including healthcare, finance, transportation, and entertainment.
Despite these advancements, AI research continues to grapple with ethical and
societal implications, including issues related to privacy, job displacement, and
decision transparency.
AI is a rapidly evolving field that offers exciting opportunities and challenges.
Its potential to revolutionize various aspects of our lives makes it a compelling area of
research.
Statement of the Research Problem
This research aims to know if the students of Maragol Integrated School are
using Artificial Intelligence on their academic researches and projects. This study also
helps to discover if using AI will affect/ affects the educational standards of the
school. Moreover, this study will also help to determine the possible risks and
limitations of using Artificial Intelligence.
Objectives of the Study
This study aims to achieve the following objectives.
1. To determine which artificial intelligence (AI) students most frequently employ for
their academic projects and research.
2. To understand the effects of AI use on the educational standard of the schools.
3. To understand the benefits and drawbacks of employing AI.
4. To determine the overall count of pupils applying AI on their educational pursuits.
5. To know the level of student engagement with AI.
6. To ascertain whether AI enhances the success of project completion and academic
studies.
7. To understand whether employing AI carries any potential hazards or restrictions and
what those might be.
8. To find out if any of the projects that students submit are AI-based or AI-supported.
9. To know if any students think of artificial intelligence as a reliable source for
assignments and research.
10. To figure out whether any pupils believe artificial intelligence may eventually replace
human researchers.

This study can be beneficial for the following:
School. This study can help the school to know if its educational standards are
improving or getting worse because of using AI.
Students. The students will know the impact of using artificial intelligence on their
projects and researches. And what it might do to affect their learning capacity in the
future.
Teachers. The result of this research will help the teachers of the school if their
students are using AI on their academic researches and projects. And if the students
are submitting requirements with AI supporting them.
Parents. The parents will be able to realize that if their children use AI on their
projects and researches, there are possible risks and limitations that might affect their
children’s academic standards/ capacity in the future.
Future Researchers. The results of this research can help them improve and devise
studies related to this research.
Scope and Limitations of the Study
The respondents of this research were limited age of 12 years old to 23 years
old who are studying in Maragol Integrated School, Science City of Muñoz, Nueva
Ecija.
REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
Public interest in artificial intelligence (AI) has grown substantially as a result
of recent public access to large language models (LLMs; e.g., OpenAI’s GPT-3 and 4,
Google’s PaLM 1 and 2), and chatbots (e.g., OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google’s Bard,
Microsoft’s Bing) that allow users to interface with LLMs. These Generative AI
(GenAI) tools afford individuals with the ability to instantly generate writing on any
topic by inputting a simple prompt. According to Barrett, A., Pack, A. Not quite eye to
A.I.: student and teacher perspectives on the use of generative artificial intelligence in
the writing process. Int J Educ Technol High Educ 20, 59 (2023).
Artificial Intelligence in higher education (AIED) is becoming a more
important research area with increasing developments and application of AI within the
wider society. However, as yet AI based tools have not been widely adopted in higher
education. As a result there is a lack of sound evidence available on the pedagogical
impact of AI for learning and teaching (O’dea Xianghan, O’dea Mike, Journal of
University Teaching and Learning Practice, v20 n5 Article 5 2023). This conceptual
paper thus seeks to bridge the gap and addresses the following question: is artificial
intelligence really the new big thing that will revolutionise learning and teaching in
higher education? Adopting the technological pedagogical content knowledge
(TPACK) framework and the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology
(UTAUT) as the theoretical foundations, we argue that Artificial Intelligence (AI)
technologies, at least in their current state of development, do not afford any real new
advances for pedagogy in higher education.
The emergence of generative artificial intelligence such as ChatGPT has left
people feeling ambivalent and disagreement among scholars, academicians, educators
and the community at large prevails. While the artificial intelligence could potentially
revolutionize how research is conducted and how research papers are written, a
number of ethical concerns arise. (Alberth. (2023). THE USE OF CHATGPT IN
ACADEMIC WRITING: A BLESSING OR A CURSE IN DISGUISE?. TEFLIN
Journal, 34(2), 337–352)
According to Verma Mudit. International Journal of Advanced Educational
Research Volume 3; Issue 1; January 2018. In the future, intelligent machines will
replace or enhance human capabilities in many areas. Artificial intelligence is the
intelligence exhibited by machines or software. It is the subfield of computer science.
Artificial intelligence is becoming a popular field in computer science as it has
enhanced the human life in many areas. Artificial intelligence in the last two decades
has greatly improved performance of the manufacturing, service sector and so in the
field of education. Study in the field of artificial intelligence has given rise to the
rapidly growing technology known as expert system. Application areas of artificial
intelligence is heaving a huge impact on various fields of life as expert system is
widely used in these days to solve the complex problems in various areas as
education, engineering, business, medicine, weather forecasting etc. The areas
employing the technology of artificial intelligence have seen an increase in the quality
and efficiency. This paper gives an overview of this technology and the scope of
artificial intelligence in different areas with special reference to the use of this
technology in the field of education along with its meaning, searching techniques,
inventions and future.
AI can enable new ways of learning, teaching and education, and it may also
change the society in ways that pose new challenges for educational institutions. It
may amplify skill differences and polarize jobs, or it may equalize opportunities for
learning. The use of AI in education may generate insights on how learning happens,
and it can change the way learning is assessed. It may re-organize classrooms or make
them obsolete, it can increase the efficiency of teaching, or it may force students to
adapt to the requirements of technology, depriving humans from the powers of agency
and possibilities for responsible action. (Tuomi, Ilkka. The Impact of Artificial
Intelligence on Learning, Teaching, and Education. 2018)
With the increase in studies about artificial intelligence (AI) in the educational
field, many scholars in the field believe that the role of teachers, school and leaders in
education will change. In this regard, the purpose of this study is to examine what
possible scenarios are there with the arrival of AI in education and what kind of
implications it can reveal for future of schools. (Ahmet Gozen, Fatih Aydemir.
Research on Education and Media Vol. 12, N. 1, Year 2020)
AI provides the opportunity to use a large scale of knowledge that is in some
way structured and suitable for use in the educational process to solve certain
educational problems and which is personalized for each student. “Smart” learning
devices, various software educational applications, adaptive intelligent virtual
assistants, chatbots - today this is the stage of application of AI in education and this
stage passes. This was according to Valentyna Yuskovychzhukovska, Tetiana
Poplavska, Oksana Diachenko, Tetiana Mishenina, Yana Topolnyk, Roman Gurevych.
