Toucans
Most toucans live in the rain forests of the River Amazon.
Toucans have a very large and brightly-coloured bill. Even
though it is so large the toucan's bill is light in weight. This is
because of the air spaces between the bill's thin, bony sides.
Toucans have a very long tongue. They feed mostly on
fruits but they also eat insects, small reptiles and the eggs and
chicks of small birds. Their long bills are very useful for
plucking and crushing ~he food before it is swallowed.
Toucans lay their eggs in holes in trees.
