SECTION B: PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE (60 %)
The student will be expected to reflect on practical experience in the practice of Human Resource
Management in terms of the following sub-elements and make a critical analysis of these elements
against theory: - (NB; For each sub element the student has been exposed to he/she is required to
scholarly define or introduce the practice; describe how it is undertaken in the placement organisation;
make a critical analysis of the practice in relation to theory; finally make a specific recommendation on
how the practice can be improved or reinforced.

NB: the remaining 10 % of the total overall mark will come from the overall presentation of
work, including page numbering, grammar, spellings, expression, evidence of report writing
and I.T skills.
Important Instruction
The student must submit TWO spiral bound copies of the same report on or before the deadline
set by the department. Submissions are made ONLY through the Department secretary in her
office during office hours and students must sign to acknowledge submission. Late
submissions will not be considered for whatever reason and university regulations
regarding non-submission will apply. Both copies must bear the signatures of both the
student and his/her work-related learning supervisor in addition to the official stamp of the
organisation. At the back of one of the copies, a one-page proposal must be loosely placed and
submitted together with the report. Students are strongly encouraged to make time to prepare
their reports well ahead of the communicated deadline for submission.
