Combiflex - MJ (Mode de Compatibilité)

A combiflex is a type of direct meshing girth gear unit or reducer used for tubular mills. It has a split torque design with dual self-aligning output pinions that transfer the load from the bull gear. This open-faced unit allows for easy inspection and replacement of parts like the high-speed pinion due to its removable covers. It also uses inductive sensors and a closed-circuit lubrication system to monitor component movement and provide lubrication to the girth gear, pinion, mill bearings and internal gears.

 Old generation cannot be inspect

Difficult to replace the input shaft subject to high vibration

The Combiflex 2000 design is a remedy of both problems

But vibration and reliability are still a question mark

Self aligning pinion provide a good contact

 Split torque design

Dual pinion to transfer the load on the bull gear

Both pinion act as separate pinion on the drive

Date 9

Self aligning output pinions Tiltable Pinion

The pinion is supported by a universal ball

joint and is tiltable so that it can follow any
tilting movements of the gear rim. The
torque is transmitted by means of a
toothed coupling located between the
. pinion and the shaft.
The unit is equipped with a fluid grease for
long-term lubrication; re-lubrication is only
. required occasionally.

Inductive sensor on the intermediate shaft
During operation the axial displacement of the floating shaft (300) is

Monitored by means of an inductive sensor (363).

Date 11
Example: size
25.4:
Punched in value on cover (340): 115.9 mm

Measured value "a" on cover (340): 114.2 mm

Axial displacement from the central position: -

1.7mm
Punched in value on cover (341): 115.5 mm

Measured value "a" on cover (341): 117.2 mm

Axial displacement from the central position: + 1.7 mm

Permitted axial displacement from table: ― 6.0

mm
If the axial displacement of the floating shaft (300) is within the permitted
range, the inductive sensor must be fitted at distance "b"
(dimension "b": see list of equipment) from the shaft end face.

Oil requirements.
The oil supply system must be filled with the prescribed
quantity ofclean service lubricating oil (of a purity class
higher than 20/18/15 inaccordance with ISO 4406) of the
selected type (note display on theoilsupplysystem). For the
prescribed oil viscosity and type of oil (mineral oil, etc.),
seeTechnical Data, the dimensioned drawing or the rating
plate. The quality of the oil used must meet the
requirements of theseparately supplied BA 7300 EN
operating instructions, otherwise theguarantee given by
Siemens will lapse. We urgently recommend usingone of
the oils listed in BA 7300 EN, because they have been
testedand meet the requirements. If level of fresh oil
contamination is higher than prescribed, the oilmust be
filtered with a nominal filter fineness of 10 µm during filling.
