Design of Solar Vehicle and Material Handling Mechanism

The document describes the design of a solar-powered vehicle and material handling mechanisms in an assembly line. The vehicle must travel between points A, B, C, and D within 1.5 minutes while the material handling occurs on time. It provides details of the route, required velocities, and questions to design parameters of the vehicle, and material handling mechanisms at points B and C, including travel distances, motor specifications, hydraulic systems, and conveyor speeds. The four sections include calculations for travel paths, vehicle components like the solar panel and gearbox, lifting objects at points B and C within given time frames, and ensuring synchronized operation.

DESIGN OF SOLAR VEHICLE AND MATERIAL HANDLING MECHANISMS

Introduction:
Team has to design important parameters of a vehicle operated by solar power and material
handling mechanisms in an assembly line.

Problem Description:
In an assembly line, a vehicle start from point A goes to point B to collect a material. From point B, it
goes to point C to collect another material. Finally, it goes to point D where the two materials will be
dispatched.

o The time taken for the vehicle to reach B from A is 30 sec.

o The time taken for the vehicle to reach C from B is 0.5 min.
o The time taken for the vehicle to reach D from C is 30 sec.

Meanwhile,

o The time taken to Handle the Material at point B is 30 sec.

o The time taken to Handle the Material at point C is 0.5 min, and
o The vehicle shall take 1.5 mins to complete the route from point A to D for the smooth
operation of the cycle.

The vehicle has to travel at the right speed at each path and the handling mechanisms at point B and
C should happen at given time for the smooth operation.

The Material Handling at point B starts exactly when the vehicle starts moving from the point A and
the Material Handling at point C starts exactly when the vehicle starts moving from the point B.

The problem is defined in four sections, each having multiple questions. Once each and every
question is solved and all the sections are completed, it completes the design of the system.

The four sections are,

➢ Section 1- Calculate the travel path distance and velocity of the vehicle.
➢ Section 2- Design important parameters of the Solar Vehicle.
➢ Section 3- Design important parameters of Material Handling Mechanism at point B.
➢ Section 4- Design important parameters of Material Handling Mechanism at point C.
