CAT 2024 Exam Pattern
The Pattern for CAT 2024 is going to be same as CAT 2023. Each
correct answer gives you +3 marks. And, each incorrect response will
incur -1 mark.

Introduction to CAT 2024 Syllabus
CAT exam is conducted on the last sunday of November every year.
There are three sections. They are Quantitative Aptitude, Data
Interpretation and Logical Reasoning and Verbal Ability and
Reading Comprehension.
Quantitative Aptitude (QA)
Most Important topics for QA include Arithmetic, Algebra and
Geometry.
About 40 percent questions are from Arithmetic, 30 percent
from Algebra and 20 percent are from Geometry.
Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR)
Most Important topics for DILR include Einstein’s puzzles,
Arrangement, Venn Diagrams, Puzzles.
Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC)
For cracking VARC, reading regularly across various non - fictional
resources is the only key.

CAT Syllabus 2024:
Verbal Ability And Reading Comprehension
CAT essentially tests comprehension skills. Also, critical reasoning skills
are also tested. A candidate should be able to comprehend a 500 word
RC typically.
This section is allocated the highest number of questions, which is 24
out of 66 questions. RCs from diverse genres are given from non-fictional
sources which include Articles, Journals, Encyclopedias, etc.

CAT Syllabus 2024:
Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning
DILR section in the CAT is considered to be the most challenging among
the three sections. The key to excel in this section is set selection. In this
section, there are 20 questions and they are grouped into sets, with each
set containing five questions.
Data Interpretation, a significant portion of DILR is mainly dependent on
concepts of Arithmetic. DI involves solving puzzles from formats such as
Pie Charts, Bar Graphs, Line Graphs and more.
