Who developed Powerpoint?
Dennis R. Austin was the principal software developer for PowerPoint
from 1985 to 1996, particularly its versions for Apple Macintosh
computers. Austin first encountered computers in high school at a
summer program at the Carnegie Institute of Technology.
Who developed Powerpoint?
Robert Gaskins invented PowerPoint. He led its
initial design and development at a startup,
where the idea attracted the first venture capital
investment ever made by Apple Computer.
PowerPoint was released for Macintosh in 1987

MICROSOFT
POWERPOINT
▪ Is a presentation graphics
program that allows you to create
slideshows.
▪ It allows you to organize,
summarize, and format your
materials, and illustrate your
presentation with images or clip art,
graphics, video, audio, animation,
and
other multimedia components.
MICROSOFT
POWERPOINT
-It was called then as the PRESENTER
and was renamed POWERPOINT.
Forethought, Inc. was purchased by
Microsoft Corporation in 1987 and
continues to
develop and market the software
until today.
-PowerPoint is a presentation
program that allows you to create
dynamic slide
presentations.
THINGS YOU CAN DO IN
MS POWERPOINT
▪ Use pre-designed templates and color schemes to easily create presentations
▪ Use multimedia tools (images, clip art, sound, and video clips)
▪ Add animation to texts and objects
▪ Add transition effects
▪ Add graphics, tables, and diagrams
▪ Create speaker notes and handouts
▪ Create automatic slide shows
▪ Present to a live audience or in an online meeting
▪ Transform your presentation into a video
QUICK TIPS IN CREATING EFFECTIVE
PRESENTATION
Minimize- Keep slide count to a minimum to maintain a clear message and to
keep the audience attentive. Remember that the presentation is just a visual
aid. Most info should still come from the reporter.
Clarity- Avoid being fancy by using a font style that is easy to read. Make sure
that it is also big enough to be read by the audience
Simplicity- Use bullets or short sentences. Summarize the information on the
screen to have your audience focus on what the speaker is saying than on
reading the slide
Visuals- Use graphics to help your presentation but not too many to distract
the audience in addition, instead of using a table of data. Use charts and
graphs.
QUICK TIPS IN CREATING EFFECTIVE
PRESENTATION
Consistency - Make your design uniform. Avoid having different font
styles and background.
Contrast - Use light font on dark background or vice versa. This is done
because it is easier to read on the screen.
RULES FOR CREATING A POWERPOINT
PRESENTATION
• Use your slides to emphasize a point and illustrate a point with a graphic or
photo. Don’t read slides.
• Don’t make your audience read the slides either. Keep text to a minimum (6-8
lines per slide no more than 30 words per slide and keep your font size 24
or bigger). The bullet points should be headlines, not news articles.
• Think of contrast. If you use a dark background, use light–colored text, and
vice–versa. Use easy–to–read fonts such as ARIAL and TIMES NEW ROMAN.
• Leave out the sound effects and background music. It may add a lot of
distracting sounds and excessive animations to your presentation. It is best to
keep all animation as simple as possible and only use sounds if absolutely
necessary.
• Proofread, proofread, proofread to avoid misspelled words in your presentation.

TEXT BOX
It is where you can type your text and float over a slide. It can be positioned
anywhere within a slide and can add as many text boxes as you like in a slide.
The text can be placed anywhere within the slide where you need it to be without
being constrained by margins and other file structures of the presentation.
OBJECTIVES:
TOPIC: MICROSOFT EXCEL
OBJECTIVES:
1. USE DIFFERENT EXCEL FUNCTIONS
2. FORMAT CELLS AND COLUMNS
3. DELETE SHEETS
4. RENAME SHEETS
5. SAVE A SHEET
Who developed Excel?
-EXCEL WAS FIRST DEVELOPED BY CHARLES SIMONYI. THE
DEVELOPER HAS A PH. D. IN COMPUTER SCIENCE FROM STANFORD,
AND WORKED ON ONE OF THE FIRST PERSONAL COMPUTERS AT
XEROX.
Microsoft Excel
-IT WAS CALLED MULTIPLAN BUT LOST POPULARITY AT MICROSOFT DOS
SYSTEMS AND WAS INTRODUCED AGAIN IN WINDOWS IN 1998.
-A SPREADSHEET IS A FILE MADE OF ROWS AND COLUMNS THAT HELP SORT
DATA, ARRANGE DATA EASILY, AND CALCULATE NUMERICAL DATA. IT CAN
CALCULATE VALUES USING MATHEMATICAL FORMULAS AND THE DATA IN
CELLS, WHICH MAKES A SPREADSHEET SOFTWARE PROGRAM UNIQUE
FROM OTHER SOFTWARE PROGRAMS.
USES OF SPREADSHEETS IT IS MENTIONED EARLIER THAT SPREADSHEETS ARE USED TO CALCULATE NUMBERS.
HENCE, THIS MAKES SPREADSHEETS ENDLESS AND IS NOW WIDELY USED IN VARIOUS FIELDS IN LIFE. LET US HAVE

THE FUNCTIONS OF EACH ELEMENTS OF THE EXCEL
PART Brief Description/Function
Contains all the commands needed to perform
Ribbon common tasks in Excel. It has multiple tabs, each tab
has several groups of commands.
To access common commands no matter which
Quick Access Toolbar tab is selected. This can be customized according
to your preference.
This works like a search bar to quickly find tools or

commands to be used.
To access your Microsoft account information, view

your profile, and switch accounts.
This displays the location, or name, of a selected or

These are groups of cells from the top of the page to

intersection of a row and a column. A cell is named is

These are groups of cells from the left of the page to

Worksheets compose a workbook. Each worksheet is

THE FUNCTIONS OF EACH ELEMENTS OF THE EXCEL
Excel Functions
Functions are predefined formulas that perform calculations by using
specific values, called arguments, in a particular order, or structure.
Functions can be used to perform simple or complex calculations. You
can find all of Excel's functions on the Formulas tab on the Ribbon: Excel
function syntax.
Statistical Functions
SUM FUNCTION
The SUM function adds values. You can add individual values, cell references or
ranges or a mix of all three. For example: =SUM(A2:A10) Adds the values in cells A2:10.
DIFFERENCE FUNCTION
Calculate the difference between two numbers by inputting a formula in a new,
blank cell. If A1 and B1 are both numeric values, you can use the "=A1-B1" formula.
Your cells don't have to be in the same order as your formula. For example, you can
also use the "=B1-A1" formula to calculate a different value.
PRODUCT FUNCTION
The PRODUCT function multiplies all the numbers given as arguments and returns
the product. For example, if cells A1 and A2 contain numbers, you can use the
formula =PRODUCT(A1, A2) to multiply those two numbers together.
Statistical Functions
QUOTIENT FUNCTION
In Excel, we have a built-in function that gives the quotient for the division
without the remainder. For example, the QUOTIENT function is used as
follows: =Quotient( Value 1 /Value 2), so if we use =Quotient (12/5), we get
2.
AVERAGE FUNCTION
Returns the average (arithmetic mean) of the arguments. For example, if
the range A1:A20 contains numbers, the formula =AVERAGE(A1:A20)
returns the average of those numbers.
