WPP Calculation Formula

This document outlines various formulas used to calculate production metrics at different stages of textile manufacturing including winding, warping, sizing, and weaving. It provides formulas to calculate: [1] winding efficiency based on actual and calculated production; [2] required time for winding based on quantity, drum size, and production rate; [3] actual production rates in pounds or hanks based on yarn count and efficiency. It also provides formulas for calculating metrics for warping, sizing, and loom production.

Calculation Formula in WPP

Winding
Actual production
1. Winding Efficiency % = Calculated production X 100

2. Required time

Quantity of yarn∈−lb¿ be wound ¿

= No . of drum ×actual production∈lb/hr ¿
¿

Or,
Amount of yarns∈−lbs× count of yarn
= No . of drum× actual production∈hank

Or,
Amount of yarns∈hank
= No . of drum ×actual production∈hank

3. Actual production in pounds,

Calculated hank
= Yarn count
x efficiency%

4. Actual production per hour in the pound

Actual production∈hank
= Count of yarn

5. Actual production in the hank

Calculated yards
= 840
× efficiency%

6. Calculation production per hour in yards,

= ∏× diameter × speed in RPM

Warping
1. Required time in an hour,
¿
= Length of warp ¿ be produced ∈ yards Actual per hour ∈ yards

2. Beam count or count of warp

Length of yarn∈ yards on the beam
= 840 ×weight ∈lbs

Or,
No . of ends × length of warp∈ yards
= 840 × weight∈lbs

3. No. of ends in the warp

Yarncount ×weight ∈lbs
= Warp length∈hanks

Or,
Yarncount ×weight ∈lbs× 840
= Length of warp∈ yds

4. Length of warp
Weight of warp∈lbs × yarn count × 840
= No . of ends
Yds

Or,
Weight∈lbs
= No. of ends

Or,
Weight of warp∈lb × count of yarn
= No . of ends
hank

5. Weight of warp in-lbs

Warp length∈ yds ×no . of ends
= Yarn count ×840

Or,
Number of ends ×length of warp∈ yds
= Count of yarn

6. Total length of yarn in the warp

Number of ends ×length of warp∈ yds
= 840

Sizing
1. Total wt of size on the warp,

= Wt of sized warp – wt of unsized warp

2. Total length of sized yarn,

= Total warp length × No. of ends

3. Weight of sized warp in-lbs

Length of warp∈ yds × Number of ends
= Count × 840

4. Weight (wt) of size to be put on the warp,

= Size% required to be put on warp× Wt of unsized warp,

5. Count of sized yarn,

Warp length∈ yds ×number of ends
= Wt of sized warp∈lbs ×840

6. Count of sized yarn,

Count of unsized yarn
= ¿+100
× 100
7. Sizing efficiency,

= {Actual production/Calculated production) × 100%}

7. Size% on the warp

= Wt of ¿ ¿Wt of unsized warp ¿ × 100

9. Weight of unsized warp in-lbs

Warp length∈ yards× No. of ends
= Yarn count × 840

Loom
…………………………..
Motor pulley diameter
1. Loom speed = Motor RPM x Loom pulley diameter

Actual production
2. Loom Efficiency % = Calculated production X 100

3. Loom production per hour in meter,

PPM
= PPI X Efficiency [PPM- Picks Per Minute, PPI- Picks Per inch]

No . of loom × PPM ×Time × Efficiency

= PPI ×39.37 × 100

Some Important Conversions Calculation:

Length x Wt . Unit
Ne = Weight x Length Unit

 36 inch = 3 Feet = 1 Yard;

 1 Meter = 1.0936 Yards;
 1 Pound(lb) = 453.6 Gram = 16 Ounce (Oz);
 1 Lea = 120 Yards;
 840 Yards = 7 Lea = 1 Hank;
 1 Pound (lb) = 7000 Grains;
 1 Meter = 39.37 Inch;
 1 inch = 2.54 cm;
 1 cm = 10 mm;
 1 Kg = 2.205 Pound (lb)
