Have to / need to / must

Like have to, we use need to to say that an action is necessary.

(tener que / deber)
Need to se utiliza para expresar obligación o necesidad. La estructura de las frases
afirmativas, negativas e interrogativas es la misma que la de have to.

Forma afirmativa
I need to go to the doctor’s. Necesito ir al médico.
He needs to buy a new car. Necesita comprar un coche nuevo.

Forma negativa
I don't need to go to the doctor’s. No necesito ir al médico.
He doesn't need to buy a new car. No necesita comprar un coche nuevo.

Forma interrogativa
Do you need to go to the doctor’s? ¿Necesitas ir al médico?
Does he need to buy a new car? ¿Necesita comprar un coche nuevo?
Have to / need to / must

We use must / mustn't to say that an action is obligatory, but with more emphasis.
(tener que / deber)
El verbo must expresa obligación, igual que have to, pero con más rotundidad. La forma
negativa, mustn’t, sirve para indicar prohibición.
La estructura de la frase es: sujeto + must / mustn’t + infinitivo del verbo principal.
You must stop smoking. Debes dejar de fumar.

He mustn't tell anyone. No debe decírselo a nadie.

I must go to the hairdressers. Tengo que ir a la peluquería.

I mustn't forget her birthday, No puedo olvidarme de su cumpleaños.

Recuerda que mustn’t se utiliza para indicar prohibición, y don’t have to y don’t need to, para decir que no es
obligatorio o necesario hacer algo.

You mustn't park here. No debes aparcar aquí.

You don't need to get up early. No hace falta que te levantes pronto.
