Crust Terrestrial
The crust is the Earth's surface layer,
also known as the lithosphere. It is
known for being the rocky layer where
we step on and carry out our daily
activities.
It houses biomes, animals, mountain
ranges, among others, being the most
important for humans.
Mantle
The Earth's mantle is the middle layer
of planet Earth. Its upper portion, also
called the asthenosphere, has pasty-
looking rocks, responsible for balancing
the tectonic plates.
Its lower portion has more liquid rocks,
due to the heat coming from the
Earth's core. This layer directly
interferes with the internal dynamics of
the planet.
Volcanism and tectonics are terrestrial
events that suffer from the interference
of the mantle. Magma from the mantle
is released by volcanoes in the form of
lava.

Formed by iron
and nickel
The core is the
innermost layer of
planet Earth.
It is basically

Temperatures
formed by iron close to 3,000 °C
and nickel, being
divided into outer
and inner core.

Has a liquid

Crust Internal
The Earth's core is the innermost part of
01 our planet. The Earth's core is divided into
two layers: the outer core and the inner
core.
02 The inner core is solid iron and nickel,
which has a radius of 1,200 km,
approximately three-quarters the size of
the Moon.
03 The core plays a decisive role in the
formation and condition of the rocks that
make up the earth's layers.
04 The importance of studying the core is
linked, among other aspects, to the
hypothesis that this layer interferes with
terrestrial magnetism.
Curiosities
01
01 Until today, man has only managed to carry out
excavations in the Earth's crust, but he wants to reach
the Mantle to carry out a series of studies.
02
02 Thay can facilitate the understanding of some geological
issues on Earth, since the rocks there are billions of years
old.
03
03 There is also hope that bacteria and other small organisms
will also be found in the Mantle. If that happens, the chances
of life beyond Earth could be much greater.
04
04 This is because the temperatures found in the Earth's
mantle can be similar to those of other planets, as well
as the rock formations that exist there.
Iayers already
Explored
In the early 1970s, the former
01 Soviet Union began excavating the
Kola Superdeep Pit, which would
try to drill as deep into the earth's
crust as possible.
02 The project's objectives were
related to the extraction of rocks
from the Archean period, which
would allow several understandings
about the terrestrial formation.
03 The engineers responsible for the project
wanted to reach 15,000 meters in 1993,
but were forced to abandon the project
due to the high temperatures existing in
the lowest layers of the Earth.
04 When they reached 12,262 meters, the drilling
equipment registered temperatures close to 180
degrees Celsius, and the calculations predicted that
the heat could increase a lot, reaching 300 degrees if
the excavations continued up to the desired 15,000
meters. if as closed.
