Context:
A storage engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and deploying shared system resources, like disks and
networking. Storage engineers also work on performance analysis and troubleshooting, data recovery strategies for
critical systems, and data backup measures.
Main responsibilities:
o Monitoring and management of the alarms, first level of intervention based on the instructions, checking the
good function of the infrastructure for which you are responsible, changes in the production environments.
o Management of the SAN / NAS and the entire storage infrastructure.
o Secure the quality of the services
o Level 2 support: Management and resolution of L2 incidents, interventions and follow-up on incidents,
enhancement of the incident reports and knowledge base.
o Write procedures, enhance existing incident reports.
o Identify recurrent incidents and open problem tickets.
o Communicate to internal departments changes, incidents .
o Install and configure tools and software related to storage activities.
o Create or perform annotations to the installation manuals and procedures.
o Review existing procedures and suggest improvements.
o Perform functional tests of the components that have just been installed, based on written test cases that are
present in existing procedures.
o Update and communicate all elements needed by the Technical Lead and support him / her in building the
monitoring reports.
o Keep up to date the job descriptions, operating procedures and the documentation related to your day-to-day
activities.
o Occasionally provide on-call support outside business hours and document these activities.
Technical Requirements
- As a Storage IT Engineer, we expect very good knowledge in the following areas:
o Skilled in using at least one of the following tools: Dell EMC DataDomain, IBM Flash Storage, NetApp Storage
o Good level of knowledge related to OS and virtualization.
o Network engineering knowledge.

o Basic backup infrastructure knowledge.
- Skilled with all related storage infrastructure tasks, including but not limiting to:
o Adding volumes (standalone or clusters).
o Configuration of remote backup / mirroring with SRDF.
o Configuration of EMC TimeFinder / IBM FlashCopy.
o Installation / removal of SAN disks on servers.
o Installation of a partition.
o Prepare and deploy migrations.
o Reserve SAN ports.
o Upgrade software for ODM / Powerpath.
o Enrich existing NAS infrastructure.
o Request audit of SAN.
o Realize performance audits on SAN/Stockage.
o Analyze / diagnose malfunctions.
- Previous Support Engineer experience.
o Register, troubleshoot and provide solution for L2 incidents.
o Register, troubleshoot and provide solution for L3 incidents.
o Follow-up open incidents in the agreed SLAs.
o Open tickets with third party suppliers.
o Follow-up incidents with third party suppliers.
o Escalate towards upper support level in case of impossibility to solve the incidents.
General skills
o Be able to write a clear report of your activities.
o Understand and follow written instructions and procedures.
o Be able to provide updates to existing documentation and procedures.
o Very good communication skills and capacity to provide feedback.

- Very good communication skills in English (oral and written); knowledge of French is a plus.
