RESEARCH PROJECT GUIDELINES
Dear Students,
This is to direct your attention towards your Research Project to be carried out by you
during final semester. The rationale behind this practical work is to
‘© Expose you to the various operational and practical aspects of business
‘+ Help you to apply the concepts learnt in your coursework.
‘© Sharpen your professional skills.
How to go about Project Work?
Considering the importance of Project Work for a MBA / BBA program the Faculty of
‘Management Sciences has drawn the following guidelines
© The Project should be carried out under a Project supervisor.
‘© Research Project could be
© AField Survey
oA Comprehensive Case study on the functioning of a business unit’
organization (covering Management, HR, Marketing or finance related
problem /Application of one or more methods for identifying/analyzing/
implementing /Evaluating any specific problem and to provide practical
suggestions to overcome such problem)
© Economic, finance, Management, HR or Marketing related Problems
which affected firms, society, financial institutions or financial markets.
© Problems should be related to the field of specializations.
Visits the selected organization & Collect information either through structured
questionnaire / interview schedule and present the certificate of attendance from
the host organization if required.
'* Collection of information/ data needs to be done in consultation with your Project
supervisor.
© The MBA / BBA project work must be submitted at the predetermined time
© It is mandatory for all MBA / BBA students to prepare project report in their
specializing subjects.
© Notwo student groups can s
omit a project report on same topic or same firm.

bs"‘* Students can seek the supervision of the in-house teacher and the teacher can give
an official document to the effect that the students has executed his/her
responsibilities effectively under her/his supervision
+ The report must carry an acknowledgement proof by the supervisor representing
the authentic presentation of assignment by the student
‘+ A genuine proof of work submitted by the student is autonomously executed by
him,
‘© Plagiarism Report must be attached with the report preferably first 5 pages of
report signed by the student and his supervisor,
‘© Attendance proof is must for weekly meetings with the project supervisor as per
the time table slot. The.attendance sheet has to be submitted with the report.
Record file will maintained in admin office that students must sign whenever they
visit their supervisor.
‘+ The students will present their project work in front of the panel which consists of
the expert faculty members in the domain. The evaluation will be done by each
individual panel member and then an average grade will be assigned to each
student on the basis of aggregate evaluation.
© The chairperson will furnish an official letter for the host organization to the
successful synopsis.
PROJECT PROPOSAL (SYNOPSI:
PROPOSAL FORMULATION
Synopsis of the project should be prepared in consultation with the respective
supervisor and after approval from the panel may be sent to The Chairman, Department
of Management Sciences for notification. The synopsis should clearly state the problem
analyzed, objectives of the study, scope of the study, tools to be employed for data
collection, methodology and chapter scheme of the proposed project to be undertaken. It
should cover adequate details of rationale of the study, sampling method, data collection,
statistical tools and limitations of the study. The size of the synopsis may be 5 to 7 pages.
COMMUNICATION OF APPROVAL
A Written communication regarding the approval/non-approval of the project proposal
will be sent to the student concerned within two days of the Proposal presentation to the
panel by the Head of Department

In case of non-approval of the proposal, comments / suggestions for reformulating the
project will be communicated to you by the supervisor. In such cases, the revised project
synopsis should be submitted with (i) revised project proposal and (ii) a copy of the
rejected synopsis bearing the comments of the evaluator within one week from the date
student receive the intimation about non-approval.
THE PROJECT REPORT
After collecting the necessary information from primary and secondary sources, students
are advised to discuss with the Project Guide for interpretation of the data and report
preparation. Compliance with the following format may enrich the quality of the Report.
Chapter I : Introduetion and the Design of the study
This Chapter may contain a brief background of the problem and contemporary
developments thereof. Brief Review of Literature, Objectives of the study, Methodology
and Sample selection, Research Design, Period of the study, sources of data, tools of data
collection, Statistical analysis, broad hypotheses, limitations, etc. on the chosen topic
establishing the need for the study on a scientific basis is desirable.
Chapter II: Profile of the Study Unit
This Chapter should contain the profile of the Company! Industry relating to the topic of
the Project.
Chapter III: Empirical Results / Data analysis &
Discussion relating to Objectives Logical presentation of the results of the study
presented in tables, graphs and figures, if any, along with necessary interpretation forms
part of this chapter. It can be given in two chapters also.
Chapter IV: Summary and Conclusion
The focus of this chapter is on broad observations made by the student against each
objective specified in Chapter 1, along with major conclusions drawn by the study.
Appropriate suggestions for the policy makers / managers on future course of action are
appreciated.
Bibliography
Every Project work should contain a list of books consulted for the topic studied.
Research Reports, list of published research articles! papers und popular books in the
field of study may be documented in standard pattern, Whenever information /data is
drawn from internet sources, please give the websites referred.
Annexure
Every Project Report should contain necessary annexure such as Proforma of
Questionnaire/ Interview Schedule.
