D. Concept: Adverbs of manner – tells how an action is done. It answers the question how. Adverbs of
manner usually ends in -ly. We also have irregular forms of adverb of manner that do not end in-
ly.example: hard,well, and fast.
III. Procedure
A. Preliminary Activities

Let us try to answer the following sentences.
Choose the correct form of adjective for each sentence. Write your answers in your notebook.
1. This milk shake is ( sweet, sweeter, sweetest )

B. Motivation
Look at the picture and ask questions about it.

Do you know the recipes that we need?
(recipe - a set of instructions for preparing a particular
dish, including a list of the ingredients required)
C. Presentation
Let us read and study the pancake recipe.

1. In a medium bowl, whisk altogether the milk, butter, and egg properly.

3. Heat the pan. Brush it with oil or butter completely.

4. Slowly pour 2-3 tablespoons of the butter onto the pan.

Note: We also have irregular forms of adverb of manner that do not end in-ly.

E. Developmental Activities
Activity 1 Adverb Relay!
Divide the class into two groups. Each group will form a line. Each group will have a representative who will
pick sentence in the provided box by the teacher and will relay to the group members, the adverb that he/she
recognized from the sentence, the last member in line will write the correct adverb on the board with the correct
spelling. The first group to finish within 2 minutes will be the winner.
Here are the sentences for this game:
The boy went to school excitedly.
The teacher explained the lessons clearly.
The little girl sang sweetly in the party.
The boys played happily outside.
The girl writes slowly.
Activity 2 ( Think, Pair, Share )
Each partner will be given one worksheet. In this activity, they will recognize the adverbs of manner by
encircling it.
After one minute, they will be going to share their work to the class.
Activity 3 (Group Activity)
Set the standards in this group activity.
Arrange the following jumbled letters. These letters are adverbs of manner. After arranging, you recognize the adverbs
of manner in the sentence below. The first group to finish will have 5 points, the second group will have 3 points ,
third up to the last will have 1 point.
Group 1 – OYLERPPR
Group 2 – EEMOCLPTYL
Group 3 – YWSLOL
Group 4 – REACLLUFY

Heat the pan, brush it with oil or butter completely.
Pour 2-3 tablespoon of the butter onto the pan slowly.
Cook until bubbles appear. Flip carefully with thin spatula.
This game has to finish within 2 minutes timer. Then each group will post and share their work to their classmates.

G. Application
The pupils will play a game “Peel the Cabbage” Let the pupils sit on their chair and instruct them to pass the
cabbage next to them while the music is going on. When the music stop, they will have to stop also passing the
cabbage. Whoever got the cabbage will peel it and get the paper inside the cabbage, then recognize the adverbs of
manner.
1. He quickly ran to catch the bus.
2. Sarah eats happily at the dining table.
3. She dressed nicely for the party.
4. My mother speaks softly to my mother.
5. The gatekeeper announces the name loudly.
