1. 16- Point Relay Output Module (4720)

This is NEXGEN PLC family I/O module. This is 16-point
discrete output module which controls AC output through
4720 electro-mechanical relay contacts.
RELAY OUTPUT
16 OP The discrete output module receives commands from
Processor Module in order to switch ON or OFF various field
actuators and elements like relays, contactors, solenoid
valves, etc.

2. Module Wiring

The front side of module is provided with red LEDs for individual output. LED
glows if Processor puts ON corresponding output. Below front door, 20-pin
terminal block is provided for wiring of field output devices. This is easily
removable which facilitate wiring. This module can be inserted in any of the
I/O slots.

This is relay contact type of output module. Two common points for AC

supply (terminal numbers 1 and 18), each for group of consecutive eight
outputs are provided. Connect output device ( load less than 0.75 Amp) to
output point as shown in figure with other terminal of output device
connected to neutral.

User should ensure that total load on a module at a time should not exceed
8 Amp.

Filtered 24 VDC (18 to 30 VDC including ripple) is required for energizing

relays on module. If supply is below 18 VDC (including ripple), orange LED
'NO 24 V SUPPLY' glows. In this case, any output LED shows digital status
but relay does not get energized and output relay contact is not closed.

Recommendations for using relay type of outputs are

DC voltage switching is not recommended through the relay contacts.

It is always recommended to insert external fuse protection (1 Amp) for

each output to avoid damage to output module in case of short circuit at
output device side.

Care to be taken when light loads like ‘neon lamps’ , some relays are
connected as output devices. Due to OFF state leakage current such
Output devices may turn ON and give false indications. Hence a suitable
dummy load (Resistive) should be wired up in parallel with such output
device. Recommended dummy resistor value is 10kΩ / 10 Watts.

Maximum voltage between any two pins not to exceed 250 VAC. Hence
connection to two and three phase supply not permitted if line voltage exceeds
110 VAC.

Replacement of Module:
For user safety replacement of live modules not permitted. Module
replacement allowed only on PLC and machine switched off and voltage on pins
confirmed to be safe.
Switching off PLC does not guarantee voltages at terminals to be safe.
