Formative Assessment #3
Learning objective:Students will show their understanding by creating a map and labeling 2/4
objects that are drawn.
Explanation of the assessment: The students will create a map of their bedroom by drawing
exactly what is in each of their rooms. It is important to let the students know that we all might
have different things in our rooms and how that is okay because everyone is different in their
own way. The students will first be on the carpet and the TC will step-by-step show the students
how to draw objects in my bedroom, such as rectangle as a dresser, a square as a tv, a long
rectangle for a bed, small square for a pillow, rectangle for my rug, etc. I found it very helpful to
compare the objects to shapes for better understanding because the classroom tends to want
everything perfect.
Rationale: The formative assessment lets students be able to recreate a map of their bedroom
and label 2 key points. This lets students think for themselves and think deeply of the main
objects in their bedroom. The students are making a layout because it helps with giving
directions and explaining to someone else with a visual of a map.

Differentiated Scoring Guide:
This scoring guide is asking the teacher to check if the student can identify their map and label
one key point on the map. This allows the student to identify an object located on the map. This
scoring guide is looking for the main points in the lesson. It is very helpful to see if the student is
understanding what is being taught by identifying and pointing out a key detail in their room.
