Dear Miss Teacher, dear classmates,

we have prepared a PowerPoint presentation about job interview.

Our aim today is to look at these
For the beginning, we have prepared a small activity for you. Lokk at the pictures of a man who is job-hunting. tell the
story as a class. Take turns to say one sentence. Continue the story sentence by sentence until is is complete.
Sample story
The man is looking for a job. He looks in the window of the job centre at the situation’s vacant advertisements. Then
he finds a suitable job in a newspaper. So, he writes a letter of application and his CV using the computer and sends it
off. After a few days, he goes to the company’s office where he is interviewed for the position. The company sends him
a letter a few days later. When he opens the letter, he finds that he has been offered the job. This makes him very
happy.
When choosing a career, our interests and hobbies are important, because each of us would like to achieve something
and be useful in our future profession. We live in an age in which many of us are still studying long after we have
passed the last state or other exam. People are forced to educate themselves throughout their lives if they want to be up
to scratch in their jobs.
What are the most import things when choosing a job?
1. Understand yourself: Know your strengths, interests, and goals.
2. Explore options: Look into different job opportunities and industries.
3. Consider what matters: Think about what's important to you in a job.
4. Make a choice: Decide which job aligns best with your preferences.
5. Think about the future: Consider how this job will help you in the long run.
6. Trust your decision: Believe in yourself and your choice.
Let´s move to different types of jobs. We know the different types of professions, and today we have chosen this
division as a curiosity. Do you know differences between these 2 types of jobs?

BLUE-COLLAR

 A blue-collar job is work that involves manual labor

 This may involve manufacturing, constructor and other kinds of physical work
WHITE-COLLAR

 A white-collar job is work that doesn´t require manual labor

 Usually takes place in an office
 Sitting at a desk or working with a computer
All right let´s move on to the next point: preparing for the interview
It is important to prepare a CV with all the information the employer mentions in the advertisement. A CV or
curriculum vitae is a summary of your personal details, work experience and educational qualifications. The aim is to
give an employer an informative and positive view of you as a potential employee. It is usually sent when applying for
a job. Your CV should be word-processed if possible, and no longer than two sides of A4 paper. You should put your
most recent job first. The CV should be relevant to the job you are applying for. The sections you might include are
personal details, education, training, qualifications, key skills, work experience, your interests and hobbies. You
should also give 2 good references.
ACTIVITY: Put the words in the correct spaces in the CV. 2. This is the job that Kate is applying for. Is she well
qualified for it? NO, because of the age
1. RESEARCH THE COMPANY Before you walk into an interview, it's important to have a good
understanding of the company and the role you're applying for. Spend some time researching the company's
mission, values, and culture, as well as any recent news or developments that might be relevant to your
interview.
2. PRACTICE YOUR ANSWERS One of the best ways to prepare for an interview is to practice your answers
to common interview questions. This can help you feel more comfortable and confident during the actual
interview. You can find lists of common interview questions online. Use the STAR (Situation, Task, Action,
Result) method to structure your responses, ensuring clarity and relevance. Be ready to explain why you're
considering a change while being respectful and diplomatic about your current employer.
3. PREPARE THOUGHTFUL QUESTIONS FOR THE INTERVIEWER Interviews are not just an opportunity
for the interviewer to evaluate the candidate, but also for the candidate to assess the company and the role.
You can ask about the team dynamics, future projects, and the company's vision. This will reflect your
engagement and also help you determine whether the company is a suitable fit for you.
4. PRINT EXTRA COPES OF YOUR RESUME
INTERVIEW QUESTIONS TO PREPARE FOR….
WHAT TO WEAR? The first impression is always the most important. For a work party, men should wear a suit and
tie and women should wear a suit or formal dress. It is good to look "neutral" and never eccentric. We never know
what piece a prospective employer has. Do NOT wear clothes with printed logos, hats indoors, flip-flops, shorts, t-
shirts...
If you're interviewing online, be mindful of your background and consider setting it to blurred if it helps you feel more
confident. Additionally, try to connect to the platform five minutes before the scheduled time to account for any
technical difficulties that might arise.
LET´S MOVE to the tips during the interview
The best way to come across as confident in an interview is to speak slowly, sit up straight with your hands in your
lap, look the interviewer in the eye and don´t look down.
Also, take your time with your answers and ask them to repeat the questions if you are unsure what they mean. It is
also important tot prepare for the interview. Arrive on time and have questions ready to ask the employer. In the
interview, try to highlight your own strengths and not talk too much about weaknesses. Be careful of bad habits
(tapping your fingers, biting your nails, playing with your hair, clicking your pen…), do not chew gum
Be professional (firm handshake); listen to what is being said or asked
You should also highlight your soft skills. As we all know that all companies need a professional candidate with good
skills. But we cannot overlook soft skills. Because they require you to work with a team hand in hand. We knoh hard
skills and soft skills? Does anyone know the difference between these 2 types of skills?
HARD SKILLS

 specific competencies, skills, knowledge and abilities needed to perform a specific task or role
SOFT SKILLS

 Personality traits, social competencies and skills, knowledge and abilities used to perform interpersonal
activities and unique tasks
 YOUR TASK IS TO MATCH THE WORDS TO THE CORRECT TYPE OF SKILL
Let´s look at the PHRASES TO USE or Not to Use. Try to give examples and not one-word answers, don’t use slang,
formulate your answers before beginning to speak, avoid “um…well…” READ SOME EXAMPLES.
Let´s move to the questions you can ask the interviewer. Many employers feel confident about candidates who ask
thoughtful questions about the company and the position. You should take time before the interview to prepare several
questions for your interviewer(s) that show you’ve researched the company and are well-versed about the position.
Some examples of questions you could ask include: READ SOME EXAMPLES.

QUESTIONS you should never ask the interviewer. Questions about:

• salary, benefits, or vacation time before receiving a job offer.
• The interviewer's personal life, such as their age, marital status, or family situation.
• Negative questions about the company or its leadership.
• Questions related to gossip or rumors you've heard about the company.

Let´s move to the final point of our presentation: Tips after the interview.
Follow-Up with a Gracious Thank-You Note After the interview, send a personalized thank-you email expressing
your gratitude for the opportunity. Reinforce your interest in the position and briefly reiterate how your skills align
with the company's needs. This final touch leaves a positive impression and reinforces your professionalism.
Be patient. Waiting to hear back from a company after you’ve interviewed can be incredibly stressful.
Write down the key points from the interview. This must be done immediately after the interview while it’s still
fresh in your mind. Write down any key points that were covered or big questions that were asked, as well as your
answers. and others (powerslide)
Learn from the experience. Every interview is a learning opportunity.

In kahoot there are going to be also questions, that we haven´t mentioned, but they are easy.
