The document discusses strategies for dealing with extreme weather phenomena including infrastructure resilience planning, policy interventions for climate change mitigation, and international collaboration and agreements such as the Paris Agreement. It provides examples for each strategy like using reflective paint and permeable pavement to deal with heat waves and drought respectively.

Adaptation and Mitigation Strategies for Extreme Weather Phenomena

We can see that the impact of extreme weather is very large and severe.
So what are the solutions to deal with this? Our group will answer this
question for you. Here are some strategies our group wants to share with
you guys.
I think some effective strategies we can apply like Infrastructure
Resilience Planning, Policy Interventions for Climate Change Mitigation
and International Collaboration and Agreements.
Yeah!Certainly
A. Infrastructure Resilience Planning
Infrastructure resilience planning involves developing strategies and
actions to strengthen critical infrastructure systems to withstand and
recover from extreme weather events. For example:

To deal with heat waves, strategies to reduce this effect often focus
on reducing the absorption of sunlight. We can plant trees, build
living roofs, paint roofs with reflective paint, use lighter-colored
paving materials for streets, develop effective heat warning
systems, etc

To deal with drought, strategies can involve improving and

upgrading water supply and delivery infrastructure, developing and
encouraging the use of drought-tolerant plants for gardens and
crops, building driveways with permeable pavement, etc

B. Policy Interventions for Climate Change Mitigation

Several policy interventions can be implemented to mitigate climate
change. For example:

Implementing carbon pricing mechanisms like carbon taxes or cap-

and-trade systems to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

Promoting renewable energy sources and energy efficiency
standards to transition to a low-carbon economy.

Encouraging sustainable land use practices and deforestation

prevention measures to mitigate climate change effects.

C. International Collaboration and Agreements

As we all know, ‘Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much’.
So, countries can work together to share knowledge, technology, and
resources, as well as establish agreements to set targets for emissions
reduction, promote sustainable development, and support vulnerable
communities in adapting to the impacts of climate change and extreme
weather phenomena. One example of International collaboration and
agreements is The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate
Change (UNFCCC) and the Paris Agreement. The Paris Agreement was
adopted in 2015 during the United Nations Framework Convention on
Climate Change (UNFCCC) Conference of the Parties (COP 21) held in
Paris, France. It is considered a landmark in global efforts to address
climate change and has been ratified by the vast majority of countries
around the world.
By integrating these strategies, I believe that we can mitigate and adapt to
the impacts of extreme weather events driven by climate change.
