Programming an Infusion by Dose Rate
Selecting the Drug Concentration
When infusing Dose Rate in Basic Profil, you have to choose the way you will set
concentration for example:
--mg/mL to set 10mg/mL OR --mg/--mL to set 1000mg/100mL
Range Finite values
• Press the arrow keys to select the concentration.
• Press <OK> to confirm.
Selecting the Patient’s Characteristics
• Press the arrow keys to enter the patient’s
weight or body surface area.
• Press <OK> to confirm.

dose and proceed to the programmed primary
infusion.
• Press <start> to continue with the loading dose.
Starting an Infusion
• Before starting the infusion, you can prime the set (patient not connected) by
pressing <BOLUS> key.
• Connect the administration set to the patient’s IV access device using aseptic
technique and according to your healthcare facility policy.

Secondary (Piggyback) Infusions
Connecting the Secondary Line
You can only add a secondary infusion when the primary infusion is delivered by flow
rate. The secondary infusion drug must be programmed by flow rate.
Primary Line
Secondary Line

(30 cm)
1. Prime the secondary administration set .
2. Lower the primary container and hang the secondary approximately
12 inches (30 cm) higher than the primary container.
3. Using aseptic technique, connect the secondary line to the upper access port on
the primary line.
4. Press <STOP> key to pause the primary infusion.
Using aseptic technique, connect the secondary line to the upper access port on the

Information:
Pri VI displays the total primary volume infused since it was last cleared.
Sec VI displays the volume infused since the start of the current secondary infusion.
End of Secondary Infusion
• When the secondary infusion is complete, the
return to the programmed primary infusion is
done automatically (short beep) or manually (press
<start> required).
• Ensure that the primary line is open.
Auto-restart
Auto-restart is an optional feature that alters the pump’s response when a
downstream occlusion is detected.
An alert is generated to inform the user that the threshold limit is reached. The
infusion is stopped. When the alert is generated, we recommend checking that the
infusion line is not kinked.
The pressure sensor measures the pressure change
during a configurable period of time:
- If the pressure decrease is significant, the infusion
automatically restarts.
- If the pressure does not decrease, the downstream
occlusion alarm is generated.
Powering off
• Press <STOP> key to stop the infusion.
• Close the roller clamp.
• Press and hold <ON/OFF> key until the pump
powers off.
