Chinese Cultural Day

Last Friday, On the 13th January, 2023 our school celebrated Chinese Culture Day. It
started with an opening ceremony with honourable guests who gave speeches about
Chinese Culture. The teachers and students were wearing their colourful Chinese
costumes. It was nice to see everyone getting into a festive spirit when it was followed by
a loud gong.
The children had great fun learning about traditional Chinese customs like creating rabbit
lanterns that are marked with good messages that you could hang on the door, where the
students were so excited to show me the after-finished work and they get to do some
traditional art pieces.
We had a lot of booth games that includes writing couplets using red paper where they
good to write good fortunes such as happiness, prosperity and long life. The children get
to make decorations using re-use red packets and they get to play cuju (Chinese football)
where they get to shoot balls made out of bamboo into the hoops.
In the hall, there is a talk about Chinese herbs from one of the University professor so
that students can understand more about using traditional Chinese medicines to prevent
diseases. As part of the talk, the children made anti-epidemic Chinese herbal sachets
which the aromatic odour can kill virus, can use as mosquito repellent, you can put in the
room to relax yourself and reduce the chance of catching cold or flu. This is the one that
fascinates me the most as I get to know more the use of Chinese herb.
Summing it all up, Chinese Cultural Day is an opportunity for us to celebrate the
diversity of different cultures in our school. It also provided chances for our students to
know more about Chinese cultures. They enjoyed various activities throughout the day.
There was laughter and happiness as they participated in different activities organized by
the school.
We all had a meaningful and pleasurable day.
