AN ORDER REORGANIZING AND UPDATING BARANGAY NUTRITION
COMMITTEE (BNC) IN BARANGAY PIAGMA, AMAI MANABILANG, LANAO DEL
SUR
WHEREAS, it is the policy of the government to protect to right to helth of the people and
instill health consciousness among them;
WHEREAS, Presidential Decree No. 491, states that nutrition is, considered one of the
priorities of the government, which is for implementation by all branches of government in an
integrated manner. It mandates the creation of the National Nutrition Committee to become the
government’s policy-making and coordinating body in nutrition with other national government
agencies, local government units and non-government organizations as members of the
collegial body in an effort for nutritional improvement;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, YACOB G. PANGCOGA, Punong Barangay of Piagma, Amai
Manabilang, Lanao Del Sur, by virtue of the powers vested upon me by law, do hereby order to
organize the Barangay Nutrition Committee (BNC).
Section 1. COMPOSITION

Section 2. FUNCTIONS
The BNC shall have the following functions, to wit:
1. Assesses the barangay nutrition situation;
2. Formulates a Barangay Nutrition Action Plan;
3. Coordinates the nutrition activities of the barangay;
4. Organizes groups to implement nutrition intervention activities; and 5. Assesses
progress of nutrition interventions.
Section 3. DUTIES OF THE BNC CHAIRMAN
The Punong Barangay who automatically the BNC Chairman shall perform the following
duties, to wit:
1. Presides over meetings and deliberations of the committees;
2. Organizes a barangay planning core group;
3. Recommends BNS for appointment;
4. Provides leadership in the formulation, implementation, supervision and evaluation of
the BNAP; and
5. Secures and provides funds for the nutrition program.
Section 4. BARANGAY NUTRITION ACTION OFFICER (BNAO)
There shall be a Barangay Nutrition Action Officer (BNAO) who shall act as the
secretariat vested with the following duties, to wit:
1. Initiates the meetings of the nutrition BNC and submits excerpts of the
minutes thereof;
2. Coordinates the implementation of nutrition intervention activities; 3.
Prepares quarterly reports of accomplishments; and
4. Keeps records of the BNC.
Section 5. EFFECTIVITY
This Order shall take effect immediately.
