Center of Excellence

Roles
When a company decides to implement RPA at scale, it's a good idea to put the RPA expertise and the
roles involved in one team that can drive the RPA journey with the right energy, knowledge, and tools.
This team is typically known as the RPA Center of Excellence. These are the roles typically involved:

Builds automation projects that range from simple components to complex business-wide
processes using UiPath Studio. The successful RPA Developer combines a good understanding of
software development principles with a working knowledge of business processes.
RPA Developer

Designs the technical architecture of RPA solutions which will be built by RPA developers using
UiPath Studio. Usually has a background in RPA development or software solution design. Has
extended knowledge of programming and RPA best practices, software or RPA solution design and
business processes.
Solution Architect

Is responsible for capturing and clarifying process requirements, identifying the inputs and
expected outputs and creating RPA documentation. The Business Analyst maps As Is and To Be
processes. The successful BA will be familiar with business process theory, the RPA business
analysis methodology and will be up to date with the capabilities of the RPA technology.
Business Analyst

Sets up and manages the team working on an RPA initiative and does availability planning to hit
automation goals. Most of the times is the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for stakeholders outside
the core team. Has a good grasp of project management approaches and the RPA Implementation
Methodology.
Implementation
Manager

Is responsible for setting up and maintaining the hardware and software resources for RPA
development and implementation. Some of the tasks can include configuring cloud or on-prem
Orchestrator, virtual machines, Studio instances, target applications, or development, testing and
production environments. Requires advanced security skills, IT Infrastructure skills and
Infrastructure implementation of UiPath solutions knowledge.
Engineer

Other Roles

As hyperautomation is becoming a widespread phenomenon, the UiPath product offering is expanding


to drive this change with a capabilities rich, flexible, and integrated environment. The roles we can
support within this environment are expanding beyond those of a traditional COE, focused on
implementing RPA in the company.

Process Mining Specialists use the UiPath Process Mining solution to analyze existing data available
in IT systems and generate holistic and deep insights into business processes. Based on those
insights, the RPA Center of Excellence can decide on the processes that have an automation
potential. A Process Mining Specialist most commonly has data analytics, data mining, process
Process Mining analytics and Business Intelligence in their skill set.
Specialist

This role is focused on leveraging UiPath Studio Pro capabilities to design, develop and implement
automated testing solutions for software as well as RPA development projects. Test Automation
Specialists are experienced with implementing software testing methodologies.
