Printing fun
X SENTENCE STARTER GAME

Assembly:
• Print and cut out each card.
• Laminate or print on cardstock for durability.
• Print lined paper (each player needs own paper).

Directions to Play:
1. Shuffle the cards and place in a pile.
2. The student choses 1 card at a time.
3. The child looks at the holiday “selfie” and reads the beginning words of the
sentence.
4. Using age appropriate lined paper, he/she finishes the sentence using the
starting words provided.

Variations:
• After viewing the card the child may verbalize the end of the sentence.
An adult can print this for the child to copy.
• After viewing the card the child may verbalize the end of the sentence.
An adult can print one key word from the child's statement for the child to
copy.
• The child can verbalize, print, or copy the names of the holiday characters
who are in the “selfie”.
• Print the game cards twice. Cut them out and use the cards to play
concentration or memory game. All the cards are laid face down on a
surface, and 2 cards are flipped over each turn. If two pairs of matching cards
are flipped, then the student writes the sentence.

Materials Needed:
 Tree template (attached)
 Puffy Paint Recipe (attached)
 White Glue
 Shaving Cream
 Green Food Coloring
 Scissors
 Brown Crayon/Colored Pencil
 Hole Punch and Colored Paper (Optional)

Print Instructions:
1. Print out Tree Template (attached) on heavy cardstock paper.
One per child.
2. Print out blank page. One per child. This is where child will attach
the tree.

How to complete craft:

1. Color base of the Christmas tree brown and the star yellow.
2. Cut out tree and the star.
3. Glue the tree on blank page as indicated.
4. Create puffy paint as indicated on recipe.
5. Add puffy paint on top of the tree.
6. Optional: Use a hole punch to punch out dots for ornaments.
7. Add the star on top!
8. Once painted, project will require several hours to dry.

You Will Need:

✓ 1 cup white shaving cream

✓ 1/2 cup white liquid glue
✓ Small bowl
✓ Green Food Coloring

Directions:
1. Mix the shaving cream and glue together in a bowl.
2. If the mixture appears too “thin”, add more glue to
make it “stiffer”.
3. Add green food coloring to make your tree green!

Fun Tips:
☺ Some children may initially resist mixing the ingredients with
their fingers.
☺ Allow them to use a spoon until he or she develops a toler-
ance.
☺ Some children may need to apply the mixture with a paint
brush.
☺ Gently entice your child to use the mixture as finger paint.
☺ When dry the paint will have an elevated or puffy
appearance.

MOTOR AROUND THE WORLD

Purpose of Activity:
Shuttle Run
• Students will be expected to run at their quickest pace from the starting
spot to the end spot.
• At the starting spot the student will quickly study the correct spelling of one
of the Holiday Around the World Vocabulary Words. He/she will then run to
the end spot and fill in the blanks for the missing letters of the vocabulary
card that was studied. Student will then take that vocabulary card and run
quickly back to the starting spot. Student will then study the next
vocabulary card. He/she will continue this process until all the cards are at
the starting spot.
• Student will do their best to run quickly and correctly fill in the letter blanks
on the Holiday vocabulary cards.
• This activity is designed to target the following skill areas:
• Increasing running speed
• Increasing balance & endurance
• Increasing concentration, organization, and academic skills

Preparation & Set Up:

1. Holiday Around the World Vocabulary Cards- Therapist will print, cut and
laminate (or use cardstock). These will be used repeatedly for future
games.
2. Holiday Around the World “Fill in the Blank” Vocabulary Cards- Therapist
will print and cut.
3. Time & Accuracy Record- Therapist will print and cut out cards. One card
per student is needed.
4. Therapist will need a timer and one pencil per student.
5. Therapist will create a designated starting and ending spot. This can be a
piece or tape on the floor.
6. Select and assign eight vocabulary cards to be placed at the student’s
starting spot.
7. The corresponding eight “Fill in the Blank” vocabulary cards will be placed
the end location. The words must match those at the starting point. A
pencil is needed at the end location also.

AROUND THE WORLD

Shuttle Run
How to Play:
1. The student quickly studies one of the “Holiday Around the
World” Vocabulary Cards to carefully examine the spelling.
2. The therapist yells “Go” and starts the timer.
3. The student runs quickly to the end spot and finds the matching
“Fill in the Blank” vocabulary card. The student then prints the
missing letters.
4. Student takes the completed “Fill in the Blank” card back to the
start point and places it on top of the matching vocabulary card.
5. The timer stops at the point.
6. Student uses the Time & Accuracy Record to print the total time
that lapsed to complete that shuttle run.
7. Student continues with this process until all eight “Fill in the Blank”
cards are back at the starting spot.
8. Once all eight cards at back to the starting point, the student
uses the Time & Accuracy Record to check off how many words
were spelled correctly.

Variations:
• Vary the distance between the start and end spots based upon
child’s ability.
• Place an obstacle on the path to run around, jump over, etc.
• Some students may still be learning how to read, spell and print.
Rather than filling in the missing letters, he/she may participate by
running to retrieve only the Holiday Around the World Vocabulary
cards, then returning each card (one at a time) to the starting
spot.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Select tree image. Print on
1 cardstock paper. Place
paper on cookie sheet.


Using white glue bottle,

2 squeeze glue and trace the
lines of the tree.


Sprinkle salt all over the

3 glue. *Tip: be sure to apply salt
generously over all the glue.


Shake off any excess salt

4 onto the tray. 

Dip paintbrush in water and

5 saturate the paintbrush with
watercolor paint.


Gently touch the paintbrush

6 to the salt. The color will
spread. Go slow!


Optional: Add sequins for

ornaments/lights around your
tree.
7 Let tree painting harden/

dry then display!
