2 Description
IFE magnet vibrators are used to generate directed oscillations for driving vibrating conveyor troughs,
vibrating conveyor tubes and screening machines.
The IFE magnet vibrator and vibratory equipment (work load) together form an oscillating system consisting
of two masses. The oscillation excitation of the system occurs through the pulsating force of the drive
magnets which are connected to the AC power supply via an IFE thyristor controller or regulation device.
The size of the oscillating width can be steplessly controlled during operation.
IFE magnet vibrators are robust constructions and their completely enclosed design is protects against dust
and splash water.

There is a risk of injury when transporting the machine by the

brackets which can cause unexpected swings to occur.

- The unit must be secured against tilting during transport and storage.

Tilting danger!

Machines that are significantly larger than the area of a Euro

Pool pallet (1200x800 mm) may not be transported using a
forklift.

4.2 Intermediate storage of the unit

In case the machine will be in an intermediate storage after delivery, before the assembling itself, please
follow the instructions:
- Preferably store in a dry shop.
- Protect all electrical equipment and their replacement parts against humidity, direct sunlight, aggressive
atmospheres and temperatures below -20 °C and over +70 °C.

ATTENTION

The storage of electric devices is not permitted out of doors! (with the exception of the
built-on drives of the machine)

If the machine is stored outdoors temporarily, it must be placed on wooden planks and
covered with a waterproof tarpaulin, left open on the bottom (to allow condensation
water to run off).

The machine and all inbuilt appliances should be basically left

as it was assembled! Incorrectly refitted parts such as covers
or lost screw locking elements can cause serious accidents
and damage during the subsequent operating period!

5 Installation

ATTENTION

Installation work requires particular expert knowledge and skills (this instruction
manual imparts neither) and should only be carried out by trained experts using
suitable tools. If necessary, please contact our service department.

ATTENTION

Screw connections can loosen under vibration. These connections and couplings must
therefore be checked at regular intervals and be retightened when necessary.

5.1 Installing the magnetic vibrator

The magnet vibrators must be fitted on a clean, level (levelness: 0.3), and vibration-free base, if possible with
a machined surface. Use only the supplied threaded bolts to attach the magnet vibrators, according to the
specifications in the construction and/or assembly drawing in the appendix.

ATTENTION

Magnet vibrator and work load are designed and adjusted for each other (dual-mass
oscillation system). The magnet vibrator is matched to a specific work load weight and
may only be mounted on a work load with the specified tuning weight.

The tuning weight is entered on the type plate.

The magnet vibrator must be recalibrated if the work load deviates.

1. Screw in the threaded bolts (Pos. 2 - Figure 3) into the saddle holder of the magnet vibrator.

2. Raise the magnet vibrator up to the vibratory equipment and thread in the threaded bolts into the
motor mounts.

ATTENTION

If welding or open flame work is necessary on the customer’s equipment during

installation of the unit, plastic linings, rubber etc. must be covered with fire-proof mats.

ATTENTION

Electric welding on parts, which are connected to the IFE vibratory equipment through
metallic connection, may only be carried out if the connection cable from the
connection unit to the magnet vibrator is disconnected (U, V, PE), (Figure 4). Welding
current flowing over the connection unit would result in its destruction!

Figure 4
1 U, V, PE disconnected
2 Closed circuit in the piece to be welded

ATTENTION

The bolted connections may settle during the first few hours of operations. For this
reason they should be checked and retightened if necessary at the following intervals:

1. check: 2–3 hours after commissioning

2. check: 2–3 weeks after commissioning

S410041R02-e-101124 Page 13
Magnet vibrator Type TS

For ATEX version (option):

- Use Loctite thread locker when attaching the threaded bolts in the saddle holder or connecting flange
(for TS 50, TS 100, TS 200 and TS 250: Pos. 2; for TS 500 and TS 1000: Pos. 5 in the replacement part
lists).
- An adapter plate is required for installing an oscillating width encoder (option). Threaded holes directly
on the magnet vibrator are not permitted (leak tightness).

5.2 Earth connection

The magnet vibrator is conductively connected with the vibratory equipment through the mounting. All parts
of the system (vibratory equipment, support construction) must be connected to the on-site earth connection.

ATTENTION

When setting up the vibratory equipment outdoors, it must also be integrated into the
on-site lightning protection measures.

7 Operation

Note

The machine must be stopped in situations that pose a risk for operating personnel or the
machine.

Depending on the design and scope of supply, the following options are available for stopping the machine:
- Emergency command equipment
- Stop button
- Contact for stop command of an external control

Functions that are not part of the scope of supply must be installed by the customer if necessary.

If the machine has stopped for unexplainable reasons, do not

switch it on again immediately.

Someone may have stopped the unit for manual intervention

and forgotten to secure it against restarting.

The unexpected switching on again may result in severe

injuries of co-workers.

Behavior if the machine has stopped:

1. Rectify the cause of the malfunction.

2. Check that no persons are working on the machine!

3. Do not start the machine again until you have checked the safety of the machine.

The machine may only be used for the process data stipulated by the contract. In case of discrepancy, we
recommend consulting with the device manufacturer.

ATTENTION

Magnet vibrator and work load are designed and adjusted for each other (dual-mass
oscillation system). Therefore, no changes are allowed to be performed. The installation
of lighter or heavier abrasion linings, the shortening or extending of the work load,
removal of covers, etc. changing the oscillating features can lead to destruction of the
machine and are therefore not permitted.

The tuning weight is entered on the type plate.

Claims for damages due to activities mentioned above not covered by the warranty.

No adjustments or manipulations may be carried out at the control and/or regulation plates that might lead to
an improper exceeding of the maximum allowed vibration widths. The maximum permitted oscillating widths
for the work load and magnet vibrator are imprinted in the respective type plate.

The machine may not be operated if:

- It cannot vibrate freely in its loaded and unloaded state or if it bangs against something.
- The ambient air temperatures do not lie between -25 °C and +40 °C.

8 Maintenance

ATTENTION

All service and maintenance work serves the safe operation of the system. It must
therefore be carried out with the utmost care according to the manufacturer's
regulations.

Machine maintenance such as repair and maintenance work,

including cleaning must be performed while the machine is
shut down. First switch off the machine, press the
EMERGENCY-STOP button, switch the on-site main power
switch to position "0" and secure it against being switched on
again – only then rectify the fault!

Sources of ignition can occur during installation and maintenance

work.

Therefore, all installation and maintenance work may only be

performed when there are no potentially explosive atmospheres
present in the working area.

Adjustments, maintenance and repairs may only be performed by experts.

If bolts, locking elements, seals etc. are made unusable when removing, they must be replaced with parts of
equal quality (solidity and material) and design.

Note

Replacement parts need to satisfy the technical requirements of the machine manufacturer!
This is always guaranteed with original IFE replacement parts.
