Let the students read a story.
Ask the following:
1. Who are the characters of the story?
The characters of the story are Pagong and
Matsing.
2. When did the story happen?
The story happened when Pagong and
Matsing found a banana tree bearing ripe
fruits on the bank of the river.
3. How did the story start?
The story started when Matsing betrayed
Pagong.
4. How does the story end? The story ended when Pagong did his
revenge to Matsing.
Teacher will present the lesson using the
powerpoint presentation.
The story has elements. These are the
setting, character, and plot.
1. The setting talks about the place and the
time that the events in the story happened.

2. The characters are the people or animals

3. A plot is the sequence of the story. The
Plot has parts and these are the beginning,
middle, and ending.
Beginning- Start of the story. It gives the
problem faced by the main character.
Middle- It presents the actions made by
the characters to solve the problem.
Ending- End of the story. It gives the
solution to the problem.

PASS THE BALL
The class will pass a ball while singing
“London Bridge is Falling Down”. The pupil
who will get the ball after singing the song will
anwer.

ball, leaving behind their daughter and

good, the fairies lead the Prince to the
sleeping Aurora’s bedside, where he

else in the kingdom to wake up from
their eternal slumber.

Group 1:
Objectives: Define the elements of the story.
The Lion and the Mouse
Pupils will work cooperatively on their
assigned groups.
Once when a lion, the king of the jungle, was asleep, a
little mouse began running up and down on him. This
soon awakened the lion, who placed his huge paw on
the mouse, and opened his big jaws to swallow him.
"Pardon, O King!" cried the little mouse. "Forgive me
this time. I shall never repeat it and I shall never forget
your kindness. And who knows, I may be able to do
you a good turn one of these days!”
The lion was so tickled by the idea of the mouse being
able to help him that he lifted his paw and let him go.
Sometime later, a few hunters captured the lion, and
tied him to a tree. After that they went in search of a
wagon, to take him to the zoo.
Just then the little mouse happened to pass by. On
seeing the lion’s plight, he ran up to him and
gnawed away the ropes that bound him, the king of
the jungle.
"Was I not right?" said the little mouse, very happy
to help the lion.
