I –Objectives
At the end of the lesson pupils should be able to:
Visualize and identify congruent line segment.
Draw congruent line segment.
Show appreciation of the different shapes around us.
II- Subject Matter

. Materials: Manila paper, marker, ruler, meter stick, pictures of congruent line segments,
ruler, slide share, video.
. Prerequisite concepts and skills
Concepts of points, lines, line segments and rays
. Value Focus: Accuracy in measurement, Importance of Shapes
Integration: Science- Matter /GAS
Harmful Materials
English- Adjectives
Arts- Primary Colors/ Shapes

III- Instructional Procedure

A. Preliminary Activities
1. Drill:
Identify the term represented by the jumbled letters.
(Show me board)
1. ysra ____________
2. nedipston ____________
3. hdeaowar ____________
4. eiln ____________
5. niel mentegs ____________
6. isoptn ____________

2. REVIEW
CABBAGE CLASSROOM GAME
Mechanics: Teacher will give the 'paper cabbage' to class and the kids sat in a circle.
Teacher will play some cool music and let the kids pass the cabbage around the circle.
When the music stops, the child holding the cabbage must take off a layer, read to
the class the question and give the correct answer. All the kids repeat the word or the
correct answer and the game continues.
A __________ has no size or shape, just position. It can be named with letters.
A _____________ is a straight path of points that has no beginning or end.
A ____________ has two end points. It can never extend indefinitely to any direction.
A ____________ has one end point and one arrow head which extends indefinitely in
one direction.

3. Motivation
Show pictures of different shapes.

What am I showing you right now?

Can you describe them?
What are the primary colors class?

Now what have you noticed with the sides of each shape?

What are the importance of shapes?

B. Development Activities
1. Presenting the Lesson

How do you know that the line segments are equal?

What will you use for you to know the exact length?

When can you determine that the

line segments are equal?
If the lines are equal they are congruent so they called Congruent Line segments
2.) Processing the Activities/Discussion
Let me show you pictures using our improvised television.

What object do you see?

Do they have the same length?

What do you call the lines with the same length?

How about the next picture, do you know what is this?

What’s inside a mosquito repellent?

Are they harmful materials

Now class, look at the length of the repellents. Are they equal?
Are they congruent or not?

How about the next picture, does it show congruency?

What do you call objects with the same length or equal lines?

What about this picture are they congruent?

Why do you say it is congruent?

What is Line Segment?

How will you determine if the line segments are equal?

What do you call line segments with the same length?

Let me show you video about congruent line segment.

3. Performing the Activities

Identify the given lines. Push the like button if the pair of lines are
congruent and dislike button if not.
1.

2.

3.

4.

5.
4.) Reinforcing the Concept

Differentiated Activities
GROUP 1
Visualize and draw the congruent
line segments to the given line
segments.
GROUP 2
Name three pairs of congruent sides.
GROUP 3
Write YES if the line segments are congruent and NO if not. Use the figure below.

Summarizing the Lesson

Ask: When are line segments congruent?

6.Applying new situation/application

Draw the dotted lines, then identify if it is congruent line segments or not
congruent.

C. Evaluation
Identify the pair of line segments. Write the symbol≅ if it shows congruent line
segments and ≅ if not.
5. Draw line segment
that have the same length or congruent

from the figure.

D. Assignment
Draw five things that show congruency. Do it in your Math notebook.
