Installing or Reinstalling Xray Client

Opening the system:

This step will require the field technician to open the LXDA-side panel (opposite the user side)
inorder to examine the retrieve the keyboard and mouse.

1) The system should remain ON during these work instructions.


2) Remove the panel opposite the user by unscrewing the Phillips head screws located
near the bottom of the system.
3) Lift from the bottom and pull the panel up (may be heavy). Be sure to override the
interlock by pulling on the white switch located on the bottom right hand side of the
system.

Retrieving the keyboard and mouse:

The keyboard and mouse will be used to copy, paste, add, delete, and modify files. The keyboard
and mouse can be located above the PC and will mostly likely be in its original packaging.

1) Pull the keyboard and mouse out of the machine, using caution not to damage or
disconnect any PC cables.
2) Place the keyboard and mouse on top of the system for easy use.

Shutting down existing drivers:

After boot-up there are 3 drivers which are automatically started which need to be turned off.
These include IOControl.exe, Shutdown.exe, and Xkeys.exe.

1) Press Esc to exit from the log in screen.

2) Press Cntrl+Alt+Del and click on "Task Manager."


3) Right click on "IOControl.exe" and click "End Process."
4) Click "Yes"
5) Follow steps 3 and 4 for "Shutdown.exe" and "Xkeys.exe"
Rename the existing Xray Client Folder:

It is highly recommended to backup the old installation in the event that the new installation
encounters problems or is corrupted.

1) Go to: C:\Program Files and locate the folder "Xray Client."


2) Rename the folder to "Xray Client_old"

3) NOTE: DO NOT DELETE THE FOLDER

Installing Xray Client:

1) Insert memory stick, CD, or any medium containing the software upgrade.
2) Drag the folder containing the files into C:\Program Files.
3) Verify that the folder name is "Xray Client"

Configuration:

During this step certain parameters from the old installation will need to be transferred to the
new installation.

1) Go to C:\Program Files\Xray Client_old and double click on Runtime.ini


2) Copy the numbers found besides BadDiodes=###,###,###
3) Paste these numbers into the newly installed runtime. (C:\Program Files\Xray
Client\Runtime.ini)
4) Note the parameter ReverseBelt=### found on the old installation
5) Copy this number into the new installation runtime file.
6) Go to Control Panel line and verify it is set to "Control Panel=0" and "Joystick Type=1"
for X-keys control panel.

Finalization:

- If the old installation contained Usernames and Paswords that you wish to retrieve you can
simply copy "RayDataBase.mdb" from C:\Program Files\Xray Client_old into C:\Program
Files\Xray Client.

- To save any other previous settings please contact Astrophysics Inc.


Restarting the system:

The "Shutdown.exe" driver was turned off at the beginning of the work instructions so thesystem
will not respond to the keyswitch.

1) Click "Start"
2) Click "Shut down"
3) Click "Restart"

- You have just installed new software into the system. To verify the software version, log in as
an Administrator, password "111111". Then click on "Menu". Revision numbers are on the bottom
right side of the screen.
