Transport Assignment

The document analyzes traffic data collected over 15 minutes including vehicle counts by type and time interval. It then calculates various metrics like passenger car units, flow rate, headway, density, peak hour factor, and traffic level based on the density. The analysis determines the traffic level is B with a density under 12 vehicles/km and speed is approximated to be less than 60km/h due to junctions and a curve.

The PCU for the vehicles counted during the time interval is shown in the table below

Total vehicles = 131

Total PCUs = 133

Total time taken = 15 minutes

Time intervals = 5 minutes

Approximate speed of passing vehicles(U) = 50km/h

Distance from counting point to the junction was = 1000km/h

This shows the degree of uniformity of the demand.

Since density is 10veh/km therefore it is Level B. The level is associated with stable flows. The operating
speed begins to be restricted. The density is under 12veh/km, maneuvering restrictions are negligible
with little probabilities of speed and flow rate reductions. Occurrence rate of accidents may be high
because of the high speed. Economic cost of Level B is excessive and prohibited.

The speed of vehicles is approximated to be 60km/h but since there are junctions and a curve before the
straight road segment the speed is less than 60km/h to avoid accidents.
