Table below shows the data collected during traffic counting
Time Interval Car, taxi, pick-up Motorbike, bicycle Truck, bus
17.00-17.05 38 1 2
17.05-17.10 36 2 1
17.10-17.15 47 1 3
Total 121 4 6
The PCU conversions I used are shown in the table below
Vehicle type Car, taxi, pick-up Motorbike, bicycle Truck, bus
PCU 1.0 0.5 1.7
The PCU for the vehicles counted during the time interval is shown in the table below
Vehicle type Car, taxi, pick-up Motorbike, bicycle Truck, bus
PCU 121 2 10.2
Total vehicles = 131
Total PCUs = 133
Total time taken = 15 minutes
Time intervals = 5 minutes
Approximate speed of passing vehicles(U) = 50km/h
Distance from counting point to the junction was = 1000km/h
Calculation

Headway, ht = = 6.87022901 = 6.87 seconds
524
Flow rate in pcu/h = 532 pcu/h
Distance headway, hd= (U¿ ×(h t)×(0.278)
=50×6.87 × 0.278 = 95.493 = 95.5m
L
Density, k = where L is assumed length that is 1000m and D is spacing between vehicles that is space

This shows the degree of uniformity of the demand.
Since density is 10veh/km therefore it is Level B. The level is associated with stable flows. The operating
speed begins to be restricted. The density is under 12veh/km, maneuvering restrictions are negligible
with little probabilities of speed and flow rate reductions. Occurrence rate of accidents may be high
because of the high speed. Economic cost of Level B is excessive and prohibited.
The speed of vehicles is approximated to be 60km/h but since there are junctions and a curve before the
straight road segment the speed is less than 60km/h to avoid accidents.
