A semester abroad* is integrated into the master’s programs at ISM. This means you’ll spend your
third semester at one of our partner universities. By ensuring optimal cooperation and customized
courses aligned with your studies, the academic achievements you attain during your time abroad will
be fully credited. This allows you to complete your studies within the designated timeframe while
also acquiring specialized knowledge within an international context.

The course content is also internationally oriented and prepares you for global tasks. Language
training or English-based events are part of your studies. You can also learn another foreign language
on a voluntary basis.

Integrated Practical Phases

A 12-week compulsory internship* is also integrated into the full-time master’s program. When
looking for an internship, you benefit from the experience of your fellow students, as the ISM internship
database includes detailed reports on every completed internship. Here you can also find information
about contacts, tasks and specific projects. Additionally, it offers you the opportunity to share your own
internship experiences with the ISM community.

*If you choose the optional Fast Track, the semester abroad will be omitted and the internship will be
shortened. You will graduate in three semesters instead of four. The M.Sc. International Business can
only be completed in 4 semesters without integrated study abroad and internship.

I realized how much fun it is to design things myself.
In a big corporation, a lot of things are predefined and
can’t be changed. It may seem unprofessional when we
sit down in the 20 square meter student apartment and
brainstorm. But it’s great to create something out of
nothing.

The content of the program is extremely valuable to

me. At DrinkForFood, for example, competition law is a
big topic. It was great that I was able to get input from

half-knowledge.

Enhance your business and management expertise for a leading position in the business world
with the MBA General Management program. You will expand your business and management
knowledge and put theory into professional practice. This program provides you with an effective
professional management education.

Theory and practice are closely intertwined in the MBA program. Experienced lecturers with
real-world management experience and constant interaction with a wide range of companies allow
you to gain further practical experience and expand your personal network.

Our MBA program is taught entirely in English. Students have the option of enrolling full-time or
part-time. The two programs differ only slightly.
If you choose the part-time MBA, your block seminars will take place once a month from Friday
to Sunday in Dortmund. In addition, you will spend three one-week study modules at renowned
universities in the USA, India, and South Korea. As a full-time MBA student, you can cultivate and
apply international management skills within a cultural setting during a study abroad program in Spain.

In addition, both MBA programs offer you the benefit of being guided by a professional coach
throughout your studies. You will work on and improve your soft skills and optimize your leadership
qualities.

Coaching — a specific highlight of our MBA programs

Individual coaching is a key feature of the program. Each MBA student is mentored by a
professional coach who helps enhance leadership skills and management qualifications. Our MBA
coaching is divided into four phases. The results are summarized in a personal development report.

Phase 1
First, the coach and the student get to know each other and define their professional status through a
standardized interview. This phase includes two sessions focused on identifying strengths and potential
weaknesses, and defining development goals.

Phase 2
Phase 2 focuses on communication behavior. It is designed to improve your communication skills and
behavior, including in an intercultural context.

Phase 3
The third phase aims to improve your team spirit and leadership skills. It includes an individual session
and a full-day team seminar. In addition to that, career counseling is also part of phase 3.

Phase 4
Phase 4 primarily focuses on conflict management. The significance of maintaining a healthy work-life
balance is also discussed. Another standardized interview is conducted to update your professional
assessment.

MBA Plus — your plus in flexibility

Another benefit for MBA students at ISM: further expand your knowledge through MBA Plus. This
optional offer allows you to select specific topics of interest from our on-demand portfolio of ISM
distance learning courses. MBA Plus is free of charge and available to all registered ISM MBA
students (full-time and part-time). We offer additional courses covering a wide range of topics,
such as Digital Marketing, Sustainability Management, Data Science and many more. You will receive a
certificate upon successful completion. Join now and earn up to 15 additional ECTS points.

I can recommend the ISM distance learning program
to anyone looking for a flexible, personalized course
of study. It is really fun to teach yourself the content,
because it is designed precisely for that. Even though
each student is scattered all over the world, there is still
a direct exchange with everyone, as you help each other
and have discussions with the professors at monthly
meetings, just like in a normal lecture. You will learn
about topics ‘beyond your own horizons’ that will be
incredibly helpful to you in your future professional life,
in your next degree program, or in your everyday life.
