EIGHT BASICS KNOTS

1. Square Knot - This knot is useful tying up bundles and


packages. It is also used for first aid, where it can be
used to tie a bandage around a wound to stop the bleeding
quickly.

2. Sheet Bend - The sheet bend knot is known for joining


two lines together.

3. Sheepshank - The sheepshank is a simple knot useful


for temporarily shortening a rope

4. Bowline - The bowline knot is used as a rescuers knot


to pull a human.

5. Clove Hitch - Use to start a lashing and ending a


lashing.

6. Timber Hitch - Use to tow a log.

7. Two Half Hitches -It is called “General Purpose Hitch”

8. Taut Line Hitch - It is used as an adjustable knot in


tent guy lines.

WHAT IS FIRST AID?


IT REFERS TO MEDICAL ATTENTION AFTER THE INJURY OCCURS SO
THAT THE INJURED PART WILL NOT GET TOO SERIOUS INJURY.
AND TO DO THIS, YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO CARE ABOUT THE PEOPLE
YOU ARE APPLYING SO.

The 8 Point of Safe Swim Defense

Qualified Supervision - A responsible adult (At least 21


years of age) must supervise.

Physical Fitness - Require Evidence of fitness for


swimming activity, using a health history.

Safe swim area – check waterfront areas for rocks,


stumps, deep holes, and currents. Mark the area into
three swimming groups.

Lifeguards on duty – have one lifeguard for every 10


swimmers.

Lookout – station a lookout where he/she can see and hear


everything in all areas.

Ability groups – divide Scouts into the following:


nonswimmers, beginners, swimmers.

Buddy system – pair every Scout with another in the same


ability group.

Discipline – follow all directions and rules of the adult


supervisor to ensure a safe swim.
What will you do first in camping?

1. Check if the area is safe.


2. Check your baggage or things.
3. Setup your tents.

Merit Badges:

1. Safety - Finding hazards and making a solution about


it.

2. Filipino Heritage - 5 Filipino Heroes

3. First Aid - Cravat, R.I.C.E Method Etc.

4. Citizenship in the Community - What did you do in your


community?

5. Ecology - Planting trees, plants.

6. Physical Fitness - Exercises etc.

7. Swimming - Basic strokes, 8 Safe Swim Defense Points

8. Soil and Water Conservation - Tell how you take care


of soil and water.

9. Weather - Tell the warning signals and how would you


tell if it will rain.

Smartness and Good Order

1. Always wear black socks.


2. Always wear black shoes that have rope to demonstrate
8 basic knots.
3. Always wear type a uniform.
4. Type A uniform should have rank patch, Quezon City
strip, name cloth.
5. Type A uniform should be tacked in inside your boxer
or briefs to have clean and not having a bumpy uniform.
6. Belt should be worn always.
